I have heard Axl saw tapes from the El Rey show last June, and that he supposedly likes it. It was either El Rey tape, or demos VR made before the album.

how did you hear this???

I really doubt he heard any demos they made before the album... thats next to impossible....

I think Axl cares about Velvet Revolver and Contaband about as much as George W. Bush cares about Michael Moore and Farenheit 9/11.

Thats to say, not at all.

If he does, he shouldn't.  Axl has more things to worry about than Velvet Revolver.  Even proving everybody wrong shouldn't be on Axl's list of priorities.  Finishing and releasing this record he's been telling people about for the last several years should be of paramount importance to him.

Agreed...I seriously doubt he does care about them, although that #1 debut might give him  some pause....or it should tell him that if he releases CD, with the NAME GNR on it, he could do some serious business. But we can't ever pretend to know what the fuck is going on in his head. nervous

It could mean 2+ more years until we see CD. And it would suck even more than Contraband. I hope Axl doesn't know anything about VR from his spider hole.

i think axl's thinking that VR is predictable and concentrate on CD's "finishing touches" even more now

To be honest i remember hearing that on the official VR site or the VR forum. It was last summer, and i didnt know about Axls current situation enough to think much of it. It could have been just a false rumor.

I think that Axl's entire purpose in life is to show the world that he could make not only a great record, but the best record since Appetite.  And to do it without the old band.

That is why CD is not out yet, he's waiting for VR to make their statement so that he could answer back with his.

I really think he is fully aware that he wants to blow Velvet Revolver away.

This makes sense to me. In what I would imagine is a twisted way of looking at this, which in the world of GNR and Axl, you kind of have to.
Shit Uncle Axl probably was waiting to hear Contraband.

In all honesty, I really feel Axl deeeeeeeeeeeep (and let me say this again, deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep) down, feels happy for his old bandmates. They have been through a lot with each other, long before actually making it. I like to think he feels good they have this second chance, and have this opportunity to make the music they have always wanted (and argued) to do.

But now its his chance, to do, that which he has longed for, and worked so hard for. Now its Axl's time to shine.

So to answer my own question, I think he does.

Axl has mentioned in past interviews about having a certain interest in listening to his former-bandmate's music.

And I have no doubt that he would like nothing more than to absolutely crush all of them, including Velvet Revolver, with Chinese Democracy.

No real message needed here to start this. I have just been curious about this. You think Axl is proud of them at all (you know like a small part of him, deep deeeeeeeeeeeeeep down), or does he find them laughable? Or maybe something else. Im curious.

I don't know if Axle cares - but VR is a positive thing for the present state of rock - we have been tuned down and shouted to death since Korn started all that. and since when is being a little whining nerd cool ? emo bands, hip- hop metal is a waste of tape, time, and hard drive space ! classic hard rock with melody has always ruled.  Kiss Kiss

Axl has to be taking note that Contraband is #1 on the Billboard charts.
