i can feel my spider sense....

« on: June 15, 2004, 06:04:49 PM »

sorry to bother you with another of my pointless assumptions but i have a little prediction for ya. i believe that the follow up to chinese democracy (or one of them..) could be a version of appetite... re- recorded with the new band. you want my reasons? okay, first off i heard from some news article, interview or discusion here or somewhere that axl has re- recorded appetite with the new band. also i heard from another source that when axl was asked for the track "welcome to the jungle" to feature in (was it.... "black hawk down?...") a film he said only if he could re- record the song. do you think he would do this to try and stop past bandmates making any more money from the album? would this explain why he was trying to sue over the greatest hits? if hes re- recorded the album it only makes sense for him to release it right? i couldnt be arsed at the moment to track down my sources for this info but if you dont take my word as gospel ill look em up over the next few days. cheers for hearing me out and sorry if its already been disscussed before. by the way if it was released, would you buy it?Huh

« Reply #1 on: June 15, 2004, 06:29:21 PM »

i think some songs will go on the B-sides, the extra 10 songs Axl was talkin' about.

i hope the CHI DEM tour or MSG version of November Rain is re-done, it has a new intro n' the effects are amazing, i think it would be cool and yes, i would buy the re-recordings. Axl wouldnt be stupid enough to re-release the whole Appitite all together, IMO i think we'll get some re done stuff but not the whole album!! no

this stuff has been discused before so watch ya back motherfucker..................

just kidding hihi

Welcome to 3 years ago!! No, all 3 of the albums will be of original material. There has been rumors for years that Axl would release 'Appetite' re-recorded by the new band, but unfortunately, I doubt it will never happen. I think it would completely own. I much prefer the old songs being played by the new band than the old one...

I would like to see some dvd's of the 2002 tour, instead of a re-recorded AFD.....I think Axl should do that anyway.

DVD's:
Leeds 2002
Toronto Canada 2002
New York Madison Square Garden 2002

That would kick so much ass....And also not make Axl look like an asshole/joke by releasing a new version of AFD. smoking

My prediction???  How about a 20th or 25th year anniversary re-rerecording of AFD, release date possibilities, 2007 or 2012.  Anyone agree?

(of course, there will be at least 2 new Guns cd's released before 2007)

I hope Axl never releases a Re-recorded AFD. I wouldnt mind one or two b-sides or live recordings ofcourse.
However they should release AFD remastered.

I feel like re-recorded /new versions of AFD may be released as bonus tracks with the first album release.

And I think that'd be cool.
It doesn't take away anything from the original.
And the guys did do some pretty cool interesting things with the material live.  ok

Yeah, so... I think if they're gonna do it, the first album release would be the time to do it...  I think that it is something that people would be interested in hearing.

EDITED TO ADD:  I'm not thinking about the whole of AFD... I mean pretty much the AFD tracks they played live... plus, who knows... Patience and YCBM?  and ooooo November Rain  love NR is a must  yes

btw.. how cool was it to hear them play Think About You live at HOB  drool

Hell I would be happy to hear anything new with Axl's voice. I am surprised Geffen didnt put out one new GnR song on its greatest hits. (Alot of artist nowadays put an unreleased track on their greatest hits to help sell it) If they couldnt get a new one from Axl they could of atleast put OH MY GOD. I would definetly buy anything with his voice on it. I would an album of nursery rhymes as long as Axl was singing them. His voice then/now is incredible.

Haven't we talked about this before?Axl said in an older interview with Mtv that he re-recorded Appetite,I think that a remastered Appetite will be release first, and ofcourse there would probably be some legal problems if Appetite was re-recorded and released

I NEVER want to see any of the songs by the old GN'R from Appetite all the way to UYI2 ever released by the new GN'R. Axl wanted his band this way, so he can leave the old songs alone, as a legacy to what i've come to love.

I have no problem with the new GN'R playing the old songs but never officially releasing them.

I think the re recorded version of appetite needs to stay where it is, locked in Axl's basement along with every single pro shot video recording of every guns n roses concert from before and during the illusion era (those should be released by the way).

Appetite is a classic album, an amazing album an album that does not need to be updated for the modern world. Just listen to the redone version of sweet child of mine from the big daddy soundtrack, there is no feeling in that song, nothing not a single bit, its been tinkered with in the studio, new effects added in, the song doesnt need that, its good as it is, raw and emotional. If memory serves me correctly the original was recorded in one or two takes, you can hear that thats how it was done, it has feeling it has energy, as does the rest of the album!!!

It would be a crime to let the re recorded version out, he would be messing with history!! Hopefully deep down Axl knows this. He said that he re recorded the album because he had to rehearse the songs anyway, maybe he just wanted to see how the new band sounded on CD, on an album!

If he does release it i garuntee it will just sound wierd to everyone, everyone will put it in expecting to hear the old songs the way they know them, instead they will get some overproduced keyboard/effects ridden versions of the songs we have come to love.

Im not against keyboards and effects in songs, i love the fact that Guns is one of the few bands out there who has actually evolved and not put out the same continuous songs in the same format album after album. But what made Appetite so great was the fact that it was a messed up band, who dragged themselves up from the bottom, laid down 3 guitar tracks (slash added an extra track on some songs... ie Welcome to the Jungle) a bass track a drum track and a vocal track (and some sex noises) and made one of the best albums of the 80s.

Just my opinion

Yeah, they had said that Axl wanted to put 'Patience' and 'You Could Be Mine' on there, replacing 'You're Crazy' and 'Anything Goes', because they performed all of the other songs on the tour. I, for one, think they should release a DVD along with the album, prolly with various performances ('Jungle' at MSG, 'The Blues' at Osaka, etc.)

I find it hard to imagine Axl would spend all this time establishing a new group and than after one release of new material go "Hey, remember all the old shit? Here it is again with a few twists."

Not really the wat to establish your new bands identity.

Than again this is the world of GnR also known as "Bizzaro World" where the rules of common sense do not apply. So who knows?

I understand where you're coming from...
look at all the AFD/GN'R tribute albums that have come out.
but, at the same time, if anyone should/could release a tribute to AFD... I'd be very interested to hear Axl's.
