Title: Leeds Festival 2004 Post by: Lineker10 on January 07, 2004, 02:12:42 PM Its early I know, but with about 7 and a half months to go to the next Leeds, bands are now beginning to be rumoured. Im definatly going again this year and some of the rumoured names Ive heard are -
The White Stripes Muse AC/DC Kiss Aerosmith Oasis The Strokes Blink 182 Iron Maiden The Darkness For me Kiss/Aerosmith along with The Darkness would rock - although AC/DC and Iron Maiden would be cool as well! Id like to see Oasis, but ive heard that their live crowds have a reputation for violence - which isnt really what you want at Leeds. Title: Re:Leeds Festival 2004 Post by: Izzy on January 07, 2004, 04:21:49 PM How come u lot all forget Reading?
Those bands look really cool, if any of those lot are there (apart from Blink 182) it will be certainly worth the trip! Personally i hope The Darkness, Oasis, Iron Maiden and AC/DC confirm as i have never seen them live Title: Re:Leeds Festival 2004 Post by: Hammy on January 07, 2004, 05:53:56 PM Personally i was hoping for Guns N' Roses, D & The Stoned Maids.........well here's to hoping :hihi:
Title: Re:Leeds Festival 2004 Post by: R4tfink on January 07, 2004, 06:12:15 PM If AC/DC, Iron Maiden and The Darkness are playing then im fucking there...again!
I wont however be prancing around half naked in a sheep skin coat! Title: Re:Leeds Festival 2004 Post by: Lisa on January 07, 2004, 09:09:23 PM methinks it is time to plan a vacation ;)
Title: Re:Leeds Festival 2004 Post by: Danny Top Hat on January 08, 2004, 04:45:39 AM Muse, Iron Maiden, Aerosmith, The White Stripes, AC/DC, The Darkness, The Strokes...
If it really does happen, that would be awesome! Title: Re:Leeds Festival 2004 Post by: Mysteron on January 08, 2004, 05:04:25 AM The White Stripes are playing. They are headlining one of the days. I think the Strokes will probably do Glastonbury instead. I can't see Maiden to the Carling festival, but do not rule out gnr
Metallica will be headlining the Download fest. Slipknot and korn also likely to be there.....but gnr will definitely not be there Title: Re:Leeds Festival 2004 Post by: Izzy on January 08, 2004, 07:26:43 AM Metallica will be headlining the Download fest. But, it's not gonna happen, so I'll probably be saying it next year as well. :'( Title: Re:Leeds Festival 2004 Post by: R4tfink on January 11, 2004, 06:55:34 AM Ok,Miz.
If you dont go, ill kill you! :P Are u scared now? :D Title: Re:Leeds Festival 2004 Post by: Miz on January 11, 2004, 07:12:24 PM well...I was almost scared...almost...but the guy sticking his tongue out and the one with the big grin kinda lost all the scaryness. ;D
Anyway, you can't kill me because I'm already dead!!! MWUHAHAHAHAHA or something like that anyway Title: Re:Leeds Festival 2004 Post by: Chris Misfit on January 20, 2004, 01:39:32 PM If Korn play, and some good up and coming european bands get the smaller stages, then I'll go.
Title: Re:Leeds Festival 2004 Post by: Miz on January 20, 2004, 07:17:48 PM If Korn play, and some good up and coming european bands get the smaller stages, then I'll go. Learn something new everyday...Title: Re:Leeds Festival 2004 Post by: Chris Misfit on January 21, 2004, 12:17:46 PM Some of their stuff is right and heavy, most commercial metal bands wouldnt even dare play those chords.
Title: Re:Leeds Festival 2004 Post by: Miz on January 21, 2004, 04:21:51 PM Some of their stuff is right and heavy, most commercial metal bands wouldnt even dare play those chords. This is true, they are heavy for sure, but I just can't get past the singing/lyrics though. Having said that, I've only listened to a small amount of their stuff, but what I heard didn't particularly impress me.Title: Re:Leeds Festival 2004 Post by: R4tfink on January 21, 2004, 06:45:38 PM Early Korn is better Korn...im not the biggest fan but there first album is heavy as fuck!
Title: Re:Leeds Festival 2004 Post by: Lineker10 on February 25, 2004, 06:51:34 PM Apparently according to NME - AC/DC, The Darkness and The White Stripes are strongly rumoured to be headlining this year. Id rather see Gn'R or Aerosmith but AC/DC would still rock!

Id rather see Gn'R or Aerosmith but AC/DC would still rock! AC/DC!!!I don't think The Darkness should headline really, I mean, they've only got one album, so they can't really play for a great deal more than an hour... If they are the three headliners though it'll be pretty cool, because normally they seem to have an indie day, a rock day, and a metal/punk day (kinda) so maybe this year we won't have any indie :D Title: Re:Leeds Festival 2004 Post by: R4tfink on February 26, 2004, 04:50:50 AM Come on, no Indie at Leeds? Its like not having the Apple in apple pies....they are bound to have indie somewhere.
I seriously hope they dont and that all Indie bands would move to an island where no one can hear there voices but themselves and other indie - ans. I say Hatebreed to headline Friday, Winnebago Deal to Headline Saturday and Slayer on the Sunday! Now that would rule!!! Title: Re:Leeds Festival 2004 Post by: Mysteron on February 26, 2004, 05:16:15 AM The Darkness are 99% for headlining, apparently. This was decided about three months ago. The White Stripes are definite as well. Not sure on ACDC
Title: Re:Leeds Festival 2004 Post by: Izzy on February 26, 2004, 07:47:04 AM I hope the White Stripes aren't headlining....if thats the best they can offer on a day...... :nervous:

The site hopes to have the lineup up a few days before the offical announcement.
Mysteron - any knowledge of the lineup apart what you have already posted? Title: Re:Leeds Festival 2004 Post by: Lineker10 on March 26, 2004, 05:45:17 PM The lineup will now be annouced mid-day Monday. Oh and The Hives have confimed - they are crap!
Title: Re:Leeds Festival 2004 Post by: Chris Misfit on March 27, 2004, 05:08:40 AM I would like to see the Hives. I didn't last tiime because I thought their singles were crap.
But on listening to their last album, they seem more punk n' roll than garage. I actually said before, that their last album is more punk than anything thats been accepted commercially for 20 years, and I stand by that. Title: Re:Leeds Festival 2004 Post by: Miz on March 29, 2004, 02:43:48 PM Sucky lineup
Title: Re:Leeds Festival 2004 Post by: R4tfink on March 29, 2004, 04:38:35 PM Thats the shittest fucking lineup ever!
If there are some other good bands playing on the friday i might just go up on the Friday if not then fuck it. Who the fuck are Morrisey?? Bollox to that. Carling suck! Title: Re:Leeds Festival 2004 Post by: Lineker10 on March 30, 2004, 10:04:28 AM Thats the shittest fucking lineup ever! If there are some other good bands playing on the friday i might just go up on the Friday if not then fuck it. Who the fuck are Morrisey?? Bollox to that. Carling suck! Morrisey is the lead singer of The Smiths apparently - who ive never heard, but there an 80's Indie band. Sounds like a crap act to me! Title: Re:Leeds Festival 2004 Post by: Jim on March 30, 2004, 05:16:40 PM You've never heard of The Smiths?
Weird... Meh, they were meh. Q love them, I think. Not suprising. I might just go up to boo 50 Cent and get stoned. Plus, you didn't expect the headliners to be all that special at a Festival like this, did you? I'm waiting for the bands who won't be playing on the main stage to be announced before I make any rash decisions, it could still rule. :) But, I'm still considering Download... Title: Re:Leeds Festival 2004 Post by: R4tfink on March 30, 2004, 05:23:50 PM Ive heard of The Smiths and heard The Smiths and they are crap IMO.
And no, like you UI i will wait until the other acts are confirmed, if there are some wee icle hardcore bands and rock and roll bands playing the tents then i may go for one day. I love the festival atmosphere, the weed, the drunken bastards and i wanna go to one definately, whether it be Leeds, Download(preferably) or HITS i wanna go...meet some fellow stoners/Rockers and have a good time for a few times then come back to the shit that is life! Title: Re:Leeds Festival 2004 Post by: Miz on March 31, 2004, 03:23:42 PM The Smiths are brilliant! But I've not heard any of Morrisey's solo stuff so I don't know if its as good as The Smiths.
But regardless, it's still a sucky lineup. I'd like to see the White Stripes, but I don't think The Darkness should be headlining because they've only got 1 album and so not enough decent material. Title: Re:Leeds Festival 2004 Post by: Izzy on May 25, 2004, 05:28:28 PM What an awful line up - they should be ashamed of themselves, 50 Cent headlining oh my god
Honestly - how many of the bands have u even heard of??? I thought Reading/Leeds was about Killer rock acts not some stage for amaeteurs to train on.... (http://66.129.120.248/images/upload/Reading-Line-Up(1).gif) Title: Re:Leeds Festival 2004 Post by: Hammy on May 25, 2004, 05:37:48 PM The only band i would like to see is The Wildhearts all the others suck. I only got into The Wildhearts the other week as well thanx to Chris Misfit : ok: but considering their place on the line up, getting a ticket for like a 30 minute set if that ain't worth it like i said before everyone should go Download instead it's far superior.
Title: Re:Leeds Festival 2004 Post by: Chris Misfit on May 25, 2004, 06:09:57 PM The Donna's and Wildhearts on the same day. That's great! Man, I hope those ladies are touring in August. Beer? Rock n' roll? Pretty ladies? Rock on, baby!
Young Heart Attack and The Bronx on the second day would be sweet. Dropkicks, Thrice and Green Day on the last day. But it's the worst line-up that festival has ever had.. I'd just have to sit and drink all day, as apposed to sitting drinking most of the day. Title: Re:Leeds Festival 2004 Post by: Danny Top Hat on May 28, 2004, 07:56:22 AM The Donnas? I saw them on some stupid MTVesque documentory last night, ranting about how sexy Jennifer Lopez and Madonna are. I think i'd rather spend a day climbing into that cesspit of a toilet they had last year... :P
Anyways, i'm going, but just for a drugs. The line-up is so bad I wanna cry. One thing though: Chris - will see you at The Wildhearts! Title: Re:Leeds Festival 2004 Post by: Chris Misfit on May 28, 2004, 10:05:31 AM I'm not going man.
Please go see The Donnas, baby, because they rock. By far the most rock n' roll band in the mainstream. Their riffage is untouched, and their melodies are fantastic. Try downloading Backstage or 40 Boys in 40 Nights, and get ready for the rock, and then the roll. PS= Check the Dangerfields thread I put up the other day, because you're coming to see them play with the Groovie Ghoulies (ramones type surf punk) at Junction 7. I'm dragging all the scrubs and punkers to this one, baby. Rock on, fuckers. Title: Re:Leeds Festival 2004 Post by: Hammy on June 14, 2004, 07:12:53 AM The Distillers are to appear at the Carling Weekend: Reading And Leeds Festivals, filling the slot so far billed as ?Special Guests?. Brody Dalle?s punk powered quartet will grace the main stage between The Hives and Jurassic 5 at Reading on Friday 27th August and Leeds on Saturday 28th August.
Other acts added to the bill include Washington State?s Modest Mouse, Ex-Queens Of The Stone Age collaborators Mark Lanegan and Nick Oliveri and Anglo American girl/boy duo The Kills. Title: Re:Leeds Festival 2004 Post by: Lineker10 on June 14, 2004, 07:34:04 AM Im looking forward to seeing The Darkness, The Streets, The Wildhearts and Young Heart Attack (Stoned you should check them out) mainly. I wanna see The Wildhearts but am not going just for them. So Lineker dude who are this Young Heart Attack and what makes ya think id like 'em then? Thing is i wanted to go to Leeds this year make it 3 years in a row and i love the festival experience but unless i discover other bands playing i like i ain't gonna show.
P.S. How the fuck can anyone look forward to The Streets? The Streets are great! Its more like spoken word than singing, but his lyrics are all so true - its like hes describing stuff that happens to you! You not a fan of The Darkness? Title: Re:Leeds Festival 2004 Post by: Hammy on June 14, 2004, 08:50:37 AM because seeing cool bands in a smaller tent is ace. That is soo true most of the bands i liked most at Donnington were away from the main stage, smaller ones in tents are better because; 1) Easier to get to the front because it's not as crowded 2) No Sun shining down on you to blind your vison or burn ya to a crisp 3) More up close and personal and it's on these stages the frontmen often come down into the crowd Title: Re:Leeds Festival 2004 Post by: Lineker10 on June 14, 2004, 09:22:31 AM (http://www.meanfiddler.com/images/upload/line-up-june-04(2).gif)

Apparently they've got gigs on, like, every day of the month except the Leeds/Reading days - so everyone thinks they'll be the special guests. This is what all my friends keep reminding me, anyway. I'll definately give the 5,6,7,8's a try - just for Kill Bill and that cool advert. 8) Title: Re:Leeds Festival 2004 Post by: Lineker10 on June 16, 2004, 10:11:19 AM Why has nobody mentioned the Velvet Revolver rumours yet? What's wrong with you? :P :hihi: /jarmo Title: Re:Leeds Festival 2004 Post by: Miz on July 11, 2004, 01:01:31 PM At first I thought the line-up sucked this year, because all the big bands are a bit average, but there are actually loads of bands that I wanna go see. It is unkown wether the schedualed apperances a Reading/Leeds will now go ahead.

Title: Re:Leeds Festival 2004 Post by: Chris Misfit on July 18, 2004, 04:13:47 AM I hope you guys are gonna post about how the Wildhearts gig is?
I feel sick to my stomach that I won't be there moonstomping to them. :( Title: Re: Leeds Festival 2004 Post by: Lineker10 on August 23, 2004, 08:46:00 AM Looks as though the NY Dolls are still playing. Plus theres a small band called The Gliteratti (S?) that are meant to be really good playing the Carling Stage - supposedly like Gn'R. Im going down to Leeds on Wednsday, its gonna kick ass!

Those bands look really cool, if any of those lot are there (apart from Blink 182) it will be certainly worth the trip! Personally i hope The Darkness, Oasis, Iron Maiden and AC/DC confirm as i have never seen them live People always forget about Leeds over Reading so it's nice to turn the tables! : ok: Title: Re: Leeds Festival 2004 Post by: Chris Misfit on August 29, 2004, 02:01:42 PM THE RASMUS have walked off stage at CARLING WEEKEND: READING after being pelted with bottles and mud.
Eyewitnesses at the gig have told NME.COM that as soon as the band came on stage, objects started flying towards where they were playing. One fan had a banner which read ?Burn The Rasmus?. A fan claimed: ?People were throwing bottles and mud. There was so much shit on the stage! A few bars into ?Guilty? they stopped playing a walked off stage, which was within the first couple of songs.? A spokesperson for the group told NME.COM the decision to leave the stage was made after bassist Eero was ?hit in the eye?. Bands scheduled to play after The Rasmus include Green Day, 50 Cent, Placebo and The Streets. Title: Re: Leeds Festival 2004 Post by: Skeletor on August 29, 2004, 03:01:04 PM The Rasmus are a crappy band, but throwing glass at someone's face is just fucking retarded.
Title: Re: Leeds Festival 2004 Post by: Chris Misfit on August 29, 2004, 03:29:22 PM Agreed. The yob mentality is the only downside to that festival. This is the first year in 5 I haven't been, but I'm glad I don't have to spend four days with a bunch of idiots who can't handle their alcohol.
Title: Re: Leeds Festival 2004 Post by: Miz on August 30, 2004, 07:30:33 PM Fiddy got bottled off at Reading as well. But aparently at leeds only a couple of things got thrown. Surprising, after I always thought the tossers were the ones who went to Leeds and started fires and destroyed everything.
One fan had a banner which read ?Burn The Rasmus?. And somehow I don't think he was a fan...To be fair though, The Rasmus and 50 Cent both suck. Jarmo, I didn't watch Mark Lanegan because I was watching the White Stripes, so I'm sorry but I figured I'd have more chance to catch him playing a club somewhere than I would of seeing the White Stripes. But if he plays somewhere near me I'll go watch him, and then if he sucks i'll complain. And Chris, The Wildhearts were pretty awesome. Apart from the White Stripes, they were the best band I saw all weekend (although the rest of the line-up sucked). Ginger seemed like a down to earth guy, and was also entertaining. Since I'm not all that familiar with their stuff i'm can't really go into how the songs sounded and shit like that, but suffice to say, they were about a hundred times better as a live band than anyone I saw on the concrete jungle stage.
