Not my kind of a movie but I liked the song as a piano instrumental.  I liked how they used it in the trailer.  It kind of stabilized the developing chaos with the images.  Had a calming effect but not a putting an end to it.

A cover of Patience was used in a commercial during Super Bowl.

Now a few weeks later this pops up.

Where's the mashed potatoes? Does it mean something?*

Love that version of the song!  I thought, right from season one, it would have made a great song for the series on the "player piano" in the saloon.  Nice to see it show up for season 3 (even if it's not on the player piano ;)  )

Sounded pretty cool to me. I wonder if the other music is somehow Guns related. You know Chris Pitman aka Mother Goose was a long time member.  :hihi:

Evan Rachel Wood is a stunner.  Manson was a dummy breaking up with her.

It takes a special talent, to see GN'R music getting picked for a trailer of an anticipated new season of a popular TV show, and creating buzz for the band, as something bad.

You didn't let me down! Congrats!

But you know, gotta pay for living in a mansion somehow.... It's your fault since you didn't buy that ticket!

For those not aware, Westworld has historically done covers of major rock songs, in a sort of western style piano music style. Sometimes orchestral.

Ramin Djawadi is behind the music.

Among the tracks covered:

Paint it Black (Rolling Stones)
Black Hole Sun (Soundgarden)
Fake Plastic Trees (Radiohead)
Heart-Shaped Box (Nirvana)

Something is coming.  Bands do this as a way to just get people thinking of the band.  I heard a smashing pumpkins song in a commercial the other day as well.

Of course, I’m not sure how they do this?  Is it that simple to just call up a company and say hey, we would like you to use one of our songs in your next commercial ?

Why bother Jarmo?  His posts are exhausting.  I called him out and offered up a bet that new GNR music would hit this year....crickets.   Put your money where your mouth is Sofine11.

I'm sure they get asked all the time for the right to use their songs in all kinds of things. Commercials, movies, TV  etc etc. Then it's down to choosing which ones you agree to do. I'm sure part of that depends on timing and what the purpose is.

Remember how they teased the reunion before Coachella was announced, with that trailer at the movies in 2015?

But yeah, I fail to see how this is bad.

For what it's worth, there's a young lady who's been covering rocks songs on her piano - playing the music and lyrics - for more than a decade.

I stumbled into the songs a long time ago going down the youtube rabbit hole.

Her rendition of Street of Dreams is fucking fantastic.

Here's SCOM:

Here's SOD

Check out her youtube page for more.

Anyway, the trailer reminded me of her and I hadn't thought of it in a good while.

YOU BASTARD! Got my hopes up!

Well anyway it's a cool take and I'm impressed they went to the extent of doing the solo, too.
