Landed in Johannesburg, what a crazy 12hrs. It’s strange to think a 2hour set is considered a “short” set.  Love the people we have sharing the stage, coming up to help and protect one of their own.

I, like many of the fans, truly appreciate all the hard work and everything you, the family, the entire crew and of course the band do to make every GNR show the best experience possible for us.  I, like many of the fans, am so very sorry to hear that Axl is not feeling well and wish him a speedy full recovery.  That being said,.... isn't it Axl who 'dictates' (for lack of a better word, haha) the length and content of the shows?  Obviously, in this particular show, his illness is what determined his decision making for said length & content.  But isn't it Axl himself who we all need to be thankful to for being the ultimate word in giving us three hour shows every show, every location?  So excuse me for pointing out the irony in you chastising fans for being frustrated and whiny because Axl has us all so very spoiled.  ;)

Yes. In this case, people should not bitch about the length. It's a testament to his will the show happened at all.

I saw U2 last year and they were not cheap tickets & the show barely clocked in at 2 hrs.  Axl did a 2 hr show sick as a dog. Yes, no one needs to bitch about that!

No one is arguing that Axl deserves MAJOR KUDOS for going on and trying his upmost to give the fans the best possible show ever despite being so ill.  But I believe that Axl would be the first one to agree and the first one to be frustrated and disappointed that he was unable to give the Abu Dhabi fans the full THREE hour set that he has and will give to every other GNR audience if it is at all within his power/control/strength.

Maybe I just hold Axl too high on a pedestal but I believe no one feels that that audience was shortchanged more than Axl himself despite his best efforts under the circumstances.  IMHO, Axl takes too much pride n' professionalism when it comes to the presentation and representation of GNR.  He expects everyone around him to conduct themselves in that manner and leads by example.

Some articles, which I won't credit with a link, seem to be suggesting it was the result of a backstage Axl/Slash fight. Surprised it took as long as it did for those sort of clickbait sites to go down that route actually....

I don't buy it. If he was pissed, I think he would go on late or not at all. I don't think he would cut the set short like that. I also find it hard to believe that things would go smoothly for 2.5 years and then a bump in the road.

Apparently the source is The Sun, which is something of a tabloid in the UK. They claim a disagreement occurred over money. The %'s each of Slash, Duff and Axl made after expenses likely was legally memorialized before touring started, so I don't buy it would be an issue now all of a sudden.

Many UK tabloids have actually a legal budget for running bullshit. Because even if they get sued they still make more money from those stories than the costs.

If this was 10 gigs in I would be a little worried but after 150+ without a hitch why do they even bother, a bunch of fuckin' idiots. They probably had a story ready from two years ago but never had a chance to use it because everything went so smoothly. So now's the chance.

And even if there was a problem about something as meaningless as money those ultimate professionals would've waited for a few weeks before putting the issue on the table.

This is how the business works just think about it. Here we are talking about The Sun in the middle of the night. This is exactly the response what they want :'(

I understand what you are saying, but I think that they don't even go out on one leg of this tour if the %'s for the GN'R Trinity aren't sorted out and agreed upon. I just don't see why it would be an issue now after 2.5 years and well over a hundred shows.

Yeah, and the Sun article makes it sound like exactly that -- that Slash and Axl were sparring over the payment for that one show on the very day the show took place.

Axl was sick. Rather than canceling, he tried to do a regular show.
