I know it's a bit early, but it seems some stuff will happen in advance of the show.

For one, Eddie Trunk tweeted there will be a pre-show broadcast on TrunkNation in the early afternoon of the show day, plus he will be hosting the concert broadcast itself.


If there were anytime a chance of an interview was big (well, bigger than usual), my guess is in the coming days. If that happens, my bet will be on either Trunk or Stern.



As for updates, I'm guessing we have Sirius subscribers tuning in and can keep us updated. Not sure about live video, maybe there will be a cell phone ban like the Troubadour show?

I was wondering about a possible Troubadour-like cell phone ban too.  For what its worth as a comparable situation, there's a lot of video on youtube from Metallica's 2013 Sirius sponsored Apollo concert.  Of course those magnetic cell phone locking bags may not have existed 4 years ago.  We'll see...

I was thinking about it, I tried every avenue possible to get into this show, its not happening.  I think I'm just going to sit back and enjoy the broadcast of the show instead of getting super stressed and not being able to get in.  I got to see them a bunch of times including Vegas last year, its not possible to go to EVERYTHING, theres going to be stuff I miss. (This is me convincing myself that I'm actually cool with missing tomorrow night.)  :hihi:

The night of, your best bet would be to find someone who basically does a periscope capturing the audio of their radio or internet stream.

It has been done before. Like the Vegas show in 2012 that was broadcasted at some radio station, someone recorded the audio and it was bootlegged days after.

I don't understand what is so special with this Sirius. Why can't you just stream it like any radio ???

Going to listen to the show on home stereo. That way I can record it to my old mini disc player.  Those things are great.  It's clear as cd quality but being you can record they are like a tape recorder.

Holy shit, i just got hit by a wave of nostalgia... I don't think I've laid eyes on a mini disc player since 1998ish when MP3 players hit the market and CDR's dropped significantly in price. Don't they only record like 70 or 80 minutes though?

I don't have channel 41 on Sirius XM.  It skips from 39 to 42.

You probably have one of the "Family Friendly" subscription plans. 

Those plans eliminate those channels, because they can have naughty words. ;)

I was thinking based on the other hash tags it seems like she may just be congratulating the NITL line up for the tour, and the Appetite line up for the 30th anniversary.

How's the venue if they did some cool acoustic stuff?

The Stern channels are ALSO not part of the Family Friendly packages.

That being said: The family friendly packages....yeah, they're the EXACT same price as the non-family friendly versions.  All you have to do is go in and change your sub plan. Shouldn't cost you a thing.  I just did this for my wife's vans sub, so we could get GnR Radio there (since she usually has the kiddos, we picked Family Friendly) awhile back.  Took me about 5 minutes and a signal refresh. :)

It's pretty amazing, both from an architectural and historic standpoint.

The acoustics are REALLY good, but I think hold up better to "jazzy/bluesy" harmonics than to straight rock (like Metallica).  Guns material fits the bluesy bill, but we'll see how it goes with their percussion mix.  Drums have a way of being overwhelming in the space, sometimes. Heavy distortion effects, too, can be a little overpowering...but that's not a real Guns staple, so...  I have to say: I can't wait to hear the SCOM "wah wah" bounce off those walls. It might be akin to a cosmic experience.

IDK what Guns will use for a sound setup, but the Apollo has a pretty impressive d&b system for in house sound.  I think it's a V series, as the sound is very warm, but not as "bright" as some modern systems (again, perfect for Appetite tracks, especially....but maybe a TINY bit less so for some of the UYI/CD material). It'll be interesting to see if Guns sticks with the in house, or brings in their own rig.

The only real issue, in the whole house, is the 1st balcony. It's a narrow slot, and the sound in there can be pretty muted, especially the further back in that balcony you move.  The sound system does it's best to accommodate, I think, but NOTHING can really solve that problem.  It's an old theater that wasn't really built for modern music acts....more for variety/vaudville/stage content.

Check in starts (I think) at 7 PM and you have to be IN YOUR SEATS by 8:30. They won't check anyone in after 8...if you're not there, you're not in.  Because this is being broadcast, they're pretty strict about these guidelines (or they have been for the Sirius Shows I've attended in the past).

So....don't paypal anyone telling you to meet them at the venue by 9:30. ;)

I do more app admin, app design/programming, database admin/data mining/research stuff. Think more CIO track Coordinator (and soon manger) IT stuff.  I can pretty easily hide in my office, behind my screens and a coffee cup, unless someone needs data, urgently, or my apps/server goes kaput (rare).

The youtube stream...no...they install a delay by default on the live stream of about 3 to 5 seconds.


The sirius app....you can try to exit out and reload..sometimes that does it. But, sometimes it's just a few seconds behind the live radio.

Band is sounding tight but the vocals are just all over the place to me.  Heard so many shows Over this tour that Axl just sounds so much better.  I even went out to my car to hear if the sound was better.  I hate that I can't be more positive in that statement.  I would be loving it there that's for sure.

The venue will handle the bluesy parts better than the grungy parts.  RQ, esp, has that distortion section in the middle that the buildings acoustics just echo for miles.

That drum part in the middle of RQ will forever be one of my favorite and one of the best ever imo.

4) Sirius gets a shit ton of good PR (maybe some $$) and...you're all listening to their show, right now.

I have an old school Stiletto. It records straight to the radio itself, like an iPod of sorts. It's portable.

The vocals are good....the mix keeps changing a little bit here and there.

They get it dialed in perfect, and then someone turns it down a smidge, and then it comes back up.

the Stilettos encrypt audio, I think.  Can't pull it off directly. 

You'd have to literally run a line out of the headphone jack into, say, a laptop mic jack, hit play and rip it like that.

Could it be a compression thing. In the beginning of Coma, and right now in the quiet parts, Axl's vocals are very high in the mix. Once the guitars kicks in, it all levels out.

They all seem a bit more precise, tonight.  Even tighter than they have.  And Axl, via the soundboard, sounds spot on.

The solos are punching hard. I'd like to feel a little more bass and percussion, but I know why they're dialed back (the venue..and the compression).

It's going to be a stellar, for the ages, soundboard if it continues just like it is right now.

And if we get some sort of rarity on top, that's a nice bonus. But it doesn't need it to be something I can enjoy.

The setlist does't make the show, it is energy, precision, the crowd... they all go into making one show better than another. Couple that with one of the best front to back recordings we have since the UYI era and you get one of the better shows of the tour. If you don't get that I don't know what to tell you, but bother another board with it.
