It looks certain Michael Monroe will come on stage. He said somewhere not long ago that he has been talking to Slash. Of course nothing is revealed but this is a chance of a not in this lifetime to make it happen.

What else would he do with them? My Michelle possibly, in a Sebastian Bach manner?

Band an hour and 45 minutes late, crowd not happy apparently. Axl: 'start of a beautiful evening' to silent reaction, then 'not sure yet'. Crowd very flat.

Anyone confirm if all this is true?

Reading they were just an hour late. Have to wait and see until somene there can give accurate details i think.

On the stream I'm watching there's little response. But it seems to be filmed from a point way back, so it doesn't capture the front half of the audience.

Think I'm reading views based probably on that stream. People saying axl is reacting to crowd not being that into it? Not sure if that's true either.

Finland is a quiet and boring country but it doesn't mean they don't enjoy. This is not crazy South America where you have to hang on to your dear life.

As for a special guest, the GNR twitter is usually quite quick to post something like that, and I haven't seen anything.

I have a few friends attending but don't want to disturb them now by calling. That is a new venue and already has a bad reputation since a massive fail with AC/DC. Let's wait when they get out of there.

If they do, the problem there is that you can only go to one direction and when 55,000 wants to go that way.

Yeah, let the dust settle in this one and see what people think. Some very mixed things being said online. Would like to know if any explanation was given for late start or not too.

Just curious, did the opening bands start late as well, or was there a long gap between the last opener and GNR?

From what i can gather, supports played on time, with GNR late.

I heard a rumour that the band arrived very late to the venue. It is a little over one hour from the capital Helsinki where the airport is located.

Something has not been right but why. Sunrise there is at 3:54, which is in a couple of hours. Maybe then we will find the answers ::)

I don't think it could be that the band arrived late- there were photos of them soundchecking this afterrnon, so they were on site. Don't know about axl of course.

This just makes me sad because Finland is a very organised country and they do things with Germany or Switzerland type precision. But a small country can't hold big events for some reason now.

Yeah the start was an hour late but actually that was a good thing because the sun was shining bright from the right side of the stage straight into the audience's eyes. When it went behind the trees the show started. Was that on purpose or not?

The encore was Dont Cry, Rosie, Patience, Seeker and PC.

Great show but another huge  disappointment from the Finnish organisers. All they know how to organise are long lines.

This is a very good point. Sporting events are sometimes disrupted because of bad weather. Seemingly good weather could actually be bad for some other usage.

However, the organisers know the times. I mean they should know. It is not magic that our Sun has risen and set at exactly the same time for billions of years on this planet.

That said, the show in Germany was delayed because of June Rain.

Great encore! I am sort of frustrated though that the set has been seemingly extended for the last few dates of the tour. Good for those going of course- not so ideal for all those who have already been! Ah well.

No Monroe or anything like that. The setlist pretty much the same as in Stockholm but no Sorry, and Out Ta Get Me instead of My Michelle, and Duff sang New Rose.

Just got back from the show.

GN'R was supposed to start at 20:45. Guns were firing at 21:35 and Mc bob started the show Exactly at 21:45. I didnt mind this at all, and most people around me were the same. (i kinda like when you dont know when the gig starts) Im not sure but i suspect that The Darkness were running a little late, but they finished at latest around 20:20

The show was over at 00:50 So it was a 3h5min set!!

No Michael Monroe duets

The security cue to the venue took about 45mins and during that time there was enough free wine being passed around from strangers to make me and my friends wasted before entering the venue. (no alcohol inside the venue so the cue was one booze fest)

Axl was in a great mood, the crowd was really calm, i was in front / middle of regular standing area. Axl made some comments about the calm crowd that went something like this ''is it ok if we play some more songs? cause i dont wanna piss anybody off'' this was said in a joking tone.

Like someone above said, the late start was actually great, cause the sun was shining on the crowd when they were supposed to start, and it actually got quite darkish for the last hour, so we got a better light show!

Some of my highlights were Outta Get Me, Rosie, Estranged, New Rose.

Black Hole Sun was started by a short piano solo by Dizzy. Im not sure if they did that before.

There was also a small episode when Layla was started twice cause the Piano was not audible.

Overall it was a killer show, longest GNR show ive seen which is awesome . I think i enjoyed the Bangkok gig more, mostly because of the great crowd, being closer to the stage, and better lightshow cause it was dark in Bangkok

Quick report: MM and The Darkness were both on time, GN'R an hour late. Not that it matters, at least to me :D The show was amazing, just unbelievable. I've read a few reviews already from major Finnish papers and they've all praised it. The band was in a great mood the whole night. No Monroe collaboration though! But Duff wore a Smack shirt :)

Getting in and out of the venue was a nightmare.

Edit. Just woke up in Tampere, looks like everyone here is wearing a GN'R shirt :D

According to Twitter he was given that shirt earlier in the day by a fan/friend he met while touring with Loaded. I guess they knew he liked the band, and I bet a lot of people in the audience liked that he was wearing the shirt.

Third GN'R gig for me, and the best! Axl sounded great, and the band was on fire  : ok:

Going to admit I have no idea who Smack are. What's the deal with them?

Pretty much all I know about them is that they're a Finnish punk rock band from the 80's. Nirvana sometimes covered one of their songs and presumably Duff likes them too.

The organisation was pretty bad, in the news theres reports that people waited a whole hour to buy beer, only to find out that the venue is out of beer.

There was not enough entries to the venue, i spent all of Michael Monroes set 50 meters from the entry waiting to get in. Some of the security guards were on a big ego trip.

I forgot to meention that McBob's intro was

I am hearing now that the band was not late and had been told 20.45 CET, which is one hour ahead in Finland. Maybe Jarmo could confirm this?

Friends are telling me that pretty much every report is laughing at Axl how he just still can't start on time. Then people are actually believing it because it is in the media.

At least Frank was at the venue during the supporting acts, don't know about the rest of the band though.

Most of the reports I've read have forgiven the late start as the show was so great. One headline stated that "Guns N' Roses is the greatest band at the moment - if you disagree, you're wrong". Pretty much says it all!

Rest of the band posted a soundcheck video- so I'm assuming they stayed at the site from that point onwards too.

I think any late start will pick up the headlines now. As I said before, hopefully it was a one off, for whatever reason.

Yep, and that's the way it has been a long time. Even if it's just a 15?30min delay it at least gets a mention. And if they're not late, it is usually mentioned as a "miracle".

Totally. First thing anyone says to me when they ask about the concerts (and we're talking people who know nothing about GNR, and care even less) is "did they manage to show up on time?"

And a 15mins delay becomes 50mins when the story develops.
