Updated 0810 GMT (1610 HKT) May 18, 2017 (CNN)Chris Cornell, lead singer of Soundgarden and Audioslave, died Wednesday night, his representative told CNN. Cornell, 52, was in Detroit performing with Soundgarden, which had embarked on a US tour in April. Brian Bumbery, his representative, called Cornell's passing "sudden and unexpected" in a statement to CNN. "His wife Vicky and family were shocked to learn of his sudden and unexpected passing, and they will be working closely with the medical examiner to determine the cause," the statement read. "They would like to thank his fans for their continuous love and loyalty and ask that their privacy be respected at this time." Not someone you would expect to go this soon, I never heard of any drug or health issues about him. Apparently he was a victim of a death hoax several days ago I read somewhere, was hoping this would be the case today. Very sad. Was a huge fan of him with Audioslave and got to see them in concert. Was hoping to again someday. Happened like 2 hours after he got off stage

Title: Re: Chris Cornell dead at age 52 Post by: tim_m on May 20, 2017, 04:14:03 PM It now appears the medication he takes for anxiety may have played a role in this. His wife when she spoke to him after the show said he wasn't ok. He was slurring his speech etc. He apparently told her he may have taken an extra dose or two. That particular drug if you take too much can cause slurred speech, paranoia and suicidal thoughts as well as impaired judgment. If the toxicology report shows he did take an extra dose or two by accident which led to this its even more heartbreaking.
