Title: Way to get better seats: TM Dynamic Pricing
Post by: AxlHBK on July 13, 2016, 07:09:47 PM
I bought tickets for the Philadelphia show on the first day of the Nightrain Pre-Sale. I got two tickets for Section 101, Row 8 (which is a section in the lowest bowl section) for the highest price of $250 a piece.

I went on Ticketmaster today, and saw that there were seats in this section with lower row numbers being sold through Ticketmaster (not re-sale or ticket exchange) for $150 each. I learned that this was due to Ticketmaster's new "Dynamic Pricing System", where TM adjusts the price of available tickets based on demand. So, I called up TM, and asked them if they would refund me the excess $200 I originally spent on these tickets. They said they could not, but they would look to see if there were better seats available for the same price that I could exchange them for. The guy on the phone looked, and ended up getting me 1st row floor tickets right behind the right Pit area. Awesome!

So, for those would paid top dollar for their tickets and are interested in getting better tickets, it might be worth your while to visit the TM website, look on the map of the section you are sitting in, and seeing if TM is selling the tickets now for less than what you paid for them earlier. If they are, it might be worth your while to call TM and see if you can get better seats.

You are allowed a one time exchange for tickets at the same value or less. They don't even have to be discounted. I did the same thing.

I've upgraded tickets, and must have gone about it the wrong way, and was charged a "restocking" type fee...

So with the 15 or so presages for these concerts.

Was there any worth to them?

For someone that just wants a good ticket.  Someone not worried about all the other nonsense that gets added into the mix

I'm not sure I understand the question. This Ticketmaster Pricing is for people who already have tickets for a given show. In order to participate you need to be a tickets holder first. And I don't know what kind of tickets are part of this Dynamyc Pricing. You better call Ticketmaster for more information.

If you are asking if the shows are worthy of the price. Nobody can judge a show for you. We could have a million fans saying they loved the shows they attended. Still you might not like the show in particular that you went.

I understand the dynamic pricing system, but what I do not like is when they are offering better seats at a big discount to what fans bought in the presale. For example, I paid 278 a ticket for section 137 row 11 on April 2. On Monday, July 11 ... they offered row 1 for $150.

I did the same thing. had 16 tix (me and my cousin both ordered 8) in 121 row 3. when I saw the GA PIT tix become available 2-3 weeks ago, I immediately called and upgraded. then called for my cousin as well. a few other friends have bought tix as well so we'll have 20 of us in the GA PIT RIGHT.

I've been doing this for years. I remember I probably gave a HTGTH member (Ra) a near heart attack back in 2011 for the Camden show. I had to unload 2 tix which I sold to him and met in person a few days before the show. Day of the show, rows 2 and 3 opened up so I upgraded. I remember calling him and not knowing me well, I'm sure he was thinking I might be up to something.  :hihi:  but I met him down there and it all worked out. we moved from the far side about 18 rows back to being right up front so it was well worth it in the end.
