This is really starting to feel like a proper reunion. I know Steven wont be a permanent fixture or replace Frank.. but how good is it that these guys managed to do this for the fans.

Say what you want about Axl.. but hes really opened up and given the fans what they wanted. And the shows are amazing.

Just got home- most incredible show I've ever seen.  Nothing comes close to comparing.  Axl's voice was incredible, Slash played like a man possessed, Duff was cool as could be, Fortus knocked it out of the park, and I got to witness Steven Adler playing with GN'R for the first time in 26 years...all from the front row.  What made it even better- they were having a blast.  Axl was feeding off the excitement and he was noticeably happy.  Slash looked so right up there playing the songs that he made famous and brought the three CD tracks they performed up several notches.  Incredible...I'm still processing it all.  Absolutely unreal experience!  I'll try to post some pics tomorrow- simply amazed at this point!

Steven is originally from Ohio, and Cincy is in Ohio. This is the perfect homecoming for Adler.

What an amazing show this must've been. Steven looks soooo happy! the entire band seems to be having a blast. This is great to see.

So the big question is will this be a nightly occurrence?

Doubt it but i am hoping!

Kinda feels like a token gesture would like to see Adler more involved, at least for the AFD songs but with a drummer already in place it might be problematic for the flow of the show and as for Izzy I'm sure Axl and slash are doing everything to get him to show up after all he was the glue that held it together and wrote most of the song's and primarily it is his baby.

I hope the very talented Kat took a few backstage pictures of the four of them together.

What an amazing night I had in Cincy last night from the pit!!  Words can't express how great the concert was!  Felt like I was witnessing an epic legendary performance in rock n' roll history.  Axl looked like he was possessed to take over the world again, absolutely amazing vocals and stage presence!   Here's video I took of Steven Adler, so lucky to see this!  Love how Axl and Steven were all smiles and fist bumping after Out ta get me!!

I think what they might do is introduce Steven at a couple of gigs and get him to play 2 different songs just to mix it up for him. The guy is an amazing drummer and this is so cool to see him back playing in Guns n Roses. Izzy will make an appearance at some stage too

That was amazing!!  I don't think anyone in the history of the world was happier than Adler was during those 10 minutes.

From my quick viewing:

AFD: Rose has 11 writing credits as does Stradlin.

Lies: Rose has 4, Stradlin has 4.

UYI 1: Rose has 11, Stradlin has 8.

In the early days it was neck and neck for Rose and Stradlin, but as the years went by he got fewer while Axl remained remarkably consistent...

How was your view of the stage? I was in the pit in DC to the right of where you were on the rail but I'm going back for the ATL show and just wanted to know how well you could see over the stage extension.

I'm holding the camera way over my head in the video. That said, I've been in the same spot on the left and right now. I'm 6'1 and it's a 6' stage so it wasn't awful, but the stage monitors kill my view either way.

It was weird because they stopped for a second and didn't start the next song. There was some movement on stage and then Axl said his name.
I almost fell of my chair. There was no talk about this happening yesterday, no gossip. It really was a surprise. An amazing surprise.
We just never know with this band. I'm so happy they could make this happen, even if it's just for one night. Steven was like a little kid in a candy store.

Holy shit, what a treat for everyone that was there.  Kudos to the band and management for keeping it under wraps.  Given Steven's silence this whole time, you'd have to think it was in the cards, but the way they pulled it off was awesome.  Next up:  Mr. Izzy Stradlin! 

Steven joining them on stage came as a genuine surprise to me. When Axl said on stage that it was time for a surprise, my thoughts were locked in on Perfect Crime I must admit. I know Steven had been rumored earlier in the year, but when it didn't happen then, I assumed it wouldn't happen in the future either.

It was a nice surprise. :)

Steven Adler performed with Guns N? Roses on Wednesday night (July 6) in Cincinnati, marking the first time he?s taken the stage with the band since 1990. The drummer was introduced by Axl Rose and played on ?Out Ta Get Me? and ?My Michelle? in the middle of the band?s 26-song set. Adler was a member of the band?s classic lineup from 1985 through 1990. He was kicked out of the band due to his excessive drug use, playing his last show with GN?R on April 07, 1990. Those songs with Steven were probably the best I've heard on this tour. That was gritty rock n' roll at its best.

I love, love, love My Michelle.  To me, it's the most underrated AFD track (note: TO ME).  To hear that, on the setlist, is a treat in itself.  To hear it played by Adler is...otherworldly.  In an already otherworldly occurance.

It would be great if Izzy did appear, but I just wonder if him and Matt doing something together is a hint he won't be involved. All I will say is, last you people in Cincinnati got something very cool. Good for guns, good for you.

Well all indications are this thing will continue after the US shows with more touring in other countries and into 2017.  With next year the 30th anny of Appetite I bet we see all 5 on stage together if not before then.

I love the youtube videos with Steven performing, Axl introducing him, and the crowd reacting to him.  And the photo of Axl and Steven fist bumping is priceless!  So great to see the boys FINALLY putting that negativity aside, piece by piece, show by show.  Even if brief, the addition of Steven last night was another step in doing that.  Life's too short fellas!  Let's see that Appetite lineup rock!  I wouldn't expect Steven to show up everywhere, but just giving him those songs made his day, and made ours too.   That's awesome.  8)

That is fucking cool.   8)  You can also see the huge smile on Axl's face when he and Steven fist bump, as well as earlier, the big smile that Axl gives to the huge ovation Steven received.  And in other videos, you see Slash and Duff both hug Steven after "My Michelle".

When you've been a fan of this band since the original lineup days, seeing them finally interact like this again is as precious as the music.   :peace:

I'm no drumming expert, but Adler seemed to be really good, didn't he?  Does he just play AFD in his basement every single night?  Those drums were perfect, even the cymbals at the beginning of My Michelle, just spot on. 

Steven has been playing those songs with his solo bands for years.  And yes, he really is that good.  If the band continues to feature Steven playing a few songs per night, I hope they keep changing them up.  Somebody said it earlier in the thread, Steven is insanely great at "Rocket Queen" -- hopefully we'll get to hear that one!

Don't know if this has been posted yet, OTGM/My Michelle.....sound quality is poor, but it shows good view of Steven on the video screen having the time of his life.

I just dont understand how people can be critical at this point... this time last year we had nothing. Now we have this.. and from what i have seen over these shows.. Axl has just gotten better and better.

Lets not forget.. hes 54.. not 24... hes made it clear that hes had a voice coach the last 12 months.. and hes got to be careful about blowing his voice out.. what we are getting is excellent considering all the variables at this point.

But I was just wondering. If Axl is capable of pulling vocals like that on this version of Out Ta Get Me, WTTJ, and ACDC, why doesn't he try to do that on the whole show?

Dirty Deeds, Touch Too Much, You Shook Me all Night Long....all these songs Axl sang just like he sings other GNR songs...with a  little rasp and using his chest voice most of the times. There are songs that are tough to sing, different keys, variations in the same song...most of ACDC songs are flat and easy for Axl to rasp.

I'm no expert on this, but I have a feeling that GN'R songs are more demanding to sing with a raspy voice than AC/DC songs.

Maybe a singer here could back this claim, but I think many GN'R songs have greater variations in pitch throughout the melody of a song, and keeping the rasp going though that is a hard thing to do.

im not an expert on the rasp thing.. but my take on it is this..

I think he just has to save himself.. an maybe a 2.5 hour show singing like that isnt possible anymore.. i dunno.. so he just inserts into the spots of the songs or the songs that he feels needs it the most.. and where he feels he doesnt need it. and the song doesnt suffer.. he just doesnt do it.

like i said.. thats just my guess though.

I'm a rasp expert. Studied at MSU. Axl has been preserving his rasp by using different tones in the biggest GNR hits like Sweet Child and Nov Rain so that he can nail Out Ta Get Me every night. That is what I've been able to diagnose from the youtubes.

right on, im glad the steven fans got something to be happy about. he looks great. really nice hair for someone his age. or for any age actually.

He looks more like Robert Plant than Robert Plant nowadays.

On SCOM, ROCKET, PC, and YCBM, he seems to Rasp out the entire 2nd half of the song.  He definitely controls it more and sings more than he used to. 

All in all, he is doing incredible.  Civil War too he sounds the best he has since he sang it in 93.

Axl's voice is the most original of all time.  I think it is tough to analyze it.

We are getting the dream come true experience.

Yeah, he is eating it up! And he should, too! He's thrilled to be back in the GNR limelight and bring to fruition his lifelong dream. This might bring healing to his heart and help him overcome any of his final drug demons and bring closure to his internal war. He needed a little instruction on how to bow from the rest of the band, but his cluelessness was very rock n roll!

That scene could possibly be the final or one of the final scenes of the pending Guns N Roses biopic movie!!! All the members smiling and the final vindication of Adler.

It almost sounds like from that little melody that he could as easily go into Anastasia as he does The Godfather... maybe we will hear him start to incorporate that into his solo.

The Adler thing does zero for me, but I'm not going to crap on it since it seems to be a big deal to so many of you.

Awesomeness!  It was so worth the 24 year wait, and Steven made it that much better.  I did think the crowd was a bit Ho Hum. I was in the seats but still people around were just standing around.  Except me and the dude 2 seats down. We were the life of our row! And I warned people when we got there that I am superfan and am gonna sing dance scream whatever, so beware and ya all better be fun! I didn't seem to piss anyone off with my singing, dancing,screaming. I think me and my neighbor dude did deafen the chick on front of us when Axl said special guest, we both screamed 'izzy'at the same time.Got some decent video from the left side screen.....but I can't find them, my cloud got full. Lmao, and my husband moved them and I'm totally tech dumb so I can't find them now.  I really feel like new jersey/new York on the 23rd is gonna see all 5.  I think Cincy was testing him to make sure he was up to it. It was a great show, better then I anticipated!

Thank you guys for getting  back together.  It's great to see and adding Steven for a few songs was oh so awesome specially for us old school gunners!!!

I dont know, I watched a couple of Slash's DVDs but never really paid attention to Anatasia's intro. But it sounded to me like the spanish chord progression E-F-G.
