Title: Re: Instrumentals during breaks Post by: Jbat81 on June 24, 2016, 02:12:34 PM I guess some don't mind. Im not a PF fan so maybe that's why I would prefer a diff instrumental. I just dont get all the extra covers besides what's already on record...
Title: Re: Instrumentals during breaks Post by: GypsySoul on June 24, 2016, 02:29:28 PM I don't think Axl has ever in the history of the band put any limitations or expectations on what the other band members do as their solos or jams.
I'm pretty sure Buckethead, Robin, Tommy, Bumblefoot and Ashba had all picked their own. I remember reading about a supposed Axl comment on Robin n' Richard's jam of Christina Aguilera's Beautiful that it wasn't particularly one of Axl's favorites. Robin n' Richard continued to perform it even after Axl's comment. And Bumblefoot not only performed his own material as his solo but also included Don't Cry at a time when I doubt any one of us would have thought that Axl would not only approve of it but eventually join in and it becoming a staple once again in the setlist. Even though I'm guessing Slither hand written on that setlist pic of Richard was probably photoshopped in, I can also see a situation of Duff and Slash including that song as part of their jam. Title: Re: Instrumentals during breaks Post by: Sickthings3 on June 24, 2016, 02:32:15 PM Ron's was in lieu of his solo, Slash is doing The Godfather. Plus Ron sang his songs, Slash doesn't (though I'm not familiar with the one you mentioned, I'll be honest. I bought the second Slash's Snakepit album and only really enjoyed Back To The Moment and Mean Bone which I would love to hear Axl sing, maybe next tour!).

True. Ron told me here in Brazil in 2010 that he had picked the Pink Panther theme. I'm pretty sure Buckethead, Robin, Tommy, Bumblefoot and Ashba had all picked their own. Even though I'm guessing Slither hand written on that setlist pic of Richard was probably photoshopped in, I can also see a situation of Duff and Slash including that song as part of their jam. Don't think so, the picture was posted on that guitar gear company's page. I see no reason on why would it be photoshopped by them.Title: Re: Instrumentals during breaks Post by: Jbat81 on June 24, 2016, 04:47:00 PM Ron's was in lieu of his solo, Slash is doing The Godfather. Its an instrumental from the first Snakepit. Fast paced... I don't think Axl has ever in the history of the band put any limitations or expectations on what the other band members do as their solos or jams. True. Ron told me here in Brazil in 2010 that he had picked the Pink Panther theme. I'm pretty sure Buckethead, Robin, Tommy, Bumblefoot and Ashba had all picked their own. Ron told me as well about a week before the Vegas shows rhis year. Here in Providence with the Metal Allegiance band... That it was him coming up w Estranged, Don't Cry and whatever else he wanted to play. I actually thnk him for it. So O don't think Axl would care what Slash play while they're on a break or setting the piano. Unless the rumors about Axl saying The Sankepit's songs are true... Lol. Either way, these are minor things. I was just curious as to why a(nother) cover when there's so many originals... Title: Re: Instrumentals during breaks Post by: Sosso on June 24, 2016, 04:47:18 PM Melissa should get her own instrumental.
I also miss Ziggy Stardust played by Dizzy at the current tour. I see no reason on why would it be photoshopped by them.It wouldn't be the first time a legit company's website was duped by a photoshopped pic. That being said, I believe Axl gives the other members of the band the respect to play whatever they so desire as their jams and solos without wanting or expecting his consultation. Title: Re: Instrumentals during breaks Post by: LIGuns on June 25, 2016, 10:31:23 PM I think they should play Purple Rain while setting up the piano..
Title: Re: Instrumentals during breaks Post by: Guitar1281 on June 29, 2016, 10:07:03 AM Fall to Pieces Instrumental with Slash, Richard, Dizzy, Melissa trading verses doing the Melody.
Title: Re: Instrumentals during breaks Post by: PermissionToLand on June 29, 2016, 03:47:04 PM Funny you'd mention Jizz Da Pit. Slash wrote that riff in GNR but Axl hated it. He called it "redneck".

Slash half black... Axl from Indiana... Interesting choice of words from Axl lol Title: Re: Instrumentals during breaks Post by: gnr1967 on July 04, 2016, 02:09:43 PM I'm really going out on a limb here, but I think it would be pretty cool to hear Slash and Fortus do an instrumental of "Beautiful" and "Endless Rain," the way Robin Finck used to play. It was kind of cool hearing an electric guitar play those tunes - made it a lot cooler than the originals.
