Title: Any possible tour dates aftet this summer?
Post by: chad_er33 on May 17, 2016, 03:56:09 PM
Any rumors on future North American dates after the San Diego show, maybe smaller arena shows?

Been quiet on that front.

What do you mean future? How far into the future?

I would assume this upcoming tour is the US tour and therefore there'd be no more shows for a while in that market... I could be wrong.

It's probable that AC/DC will do their rescheduled US shows in the fall, right?

That might affect ongoing GN'R planning as well, maybe they had a plan that needs to be modified a bit.

Axl said in one of the youtube videos, meeting the fans in Lisbon that they will play Portugal and it's being worked on by management, but he didn't know exactly when.

There are also the South American rumors for the end of the year and Australia for early next year.

I think it's likely we'll see more GN'R shows this year after the US tour. Question is where.

Axl did say in that youtube video talking to the fans that they are working out the dates for Portugal.

I think he will do ACDC US dates in the fall and then europe and the rest of the planet starting in spring of next year.

I really hope ACDC doesn't take priority over Guns; just my 2 cents.

I keep my fingers crossed for a Euro-tour announcement.I'm pretty sure for some of the big festivals mixed with headline stadium dates.
South america would be logical for the winter which is summer for them.

NorthAmerican Dates Confirmed

My guess is that the ac/dc dates will be done after San Diego. Then South America. 2017 will start in Australia and then summier in Europe. Would be a perfect time for a stadium tour in Europe.

I think this is exactly what will happen.

By the time the European summer finishes next year (around August).. it will be interesting to see what happens next..... ideally.. they would work on releasing new music.

disclaimer... that comment above isn't intended to start world war 3 on here.  ;)

I agree with the others upthread.

Except for the shows in Las Vegas, this looks like a stadium operation.  Australia and Europe most surely aren't getting arena type shows.

So, based on that, I assume the end of the summer stadium tour is it for us, stateside.  At least this year.

South america would be logical for the winter which is summer for them.

So it's opposite land!  ;)

Considering Canada only got one date, I wonder if there's a plan to play more shows in Canada and when that would be.
Surely there are more cities there that could be visited... Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec, Halifax....

I don't rule it out.  But I think there are bigger chances for AXL/DC U.S. tour.

They had to add second dates in the major markets after the first nights sold out.

I wouldn't be surprised if something similar happened abroad whenever they take the tour to places like South America and Europe etc.

Gotta think they double up the bigger cities in Europe.

All the more so if they have to wait until next spring/summer.

It's a bit different scene in Europe during summer. Every country has it's own "big" festival so I see (and hope) GN'R headlining Donington, rock am ring,Hell fest, rock Bavaria, sonisphere,Sweden rock etc.
a second show in let's say,England or France would be headlining a stadium.

Although I can see it's easier and cheaper for the band to do a lot of festivals, I hope they do their own shows exclusively.

Is it ? do you think it's easier dealing with a huge festival manager and everything that comes with it than just a stadium or outdoor place ?

They can skip a lot of logistics by playing festivals.

OK ! I'm a concert go-er not an expert in logistics and curfews.

I'm no expert either, but it has to be cheaper and easier for the whole production team if they don't need to bring a whole stage with them to set up around Europe.

That said, I won't attend any festivals so I hope they do their own shows.

As far as I know, festivals can supply certain production elements.

For example, at Coachella they had those huge curved video screens that GN'R could use.
So you might not need to carry video screens around if you only play festivals.

There are other things they would probably supply the artists with as well.

Also, festivals might be able to book artists that might not be able to play their own shows in certain markets.
That's probably not really true with GN'R.

But, as an example of a festival doing something good, without Coachella, would GN'R had played those other April shows?

AC/DC will always play. They are relentless. However, the rescheduled shows with Axl were always intended to be the end of the tour, so I don't see them playing more shows after the current run until their next record - if there is one.

GNR have missed the summer festival slots in Europe, unless they go for a late August run, I think, so I reckon if they tour it will be South America / Austraia / NZ / Japan Autumn-Spring with Europe in 2017

I would assume that an European tour would take as much time as the upcoming North American tour. At least two months.
Unless it's split in two parts like some bands do.
