Title: Promotion for US Tour
Post by: damnthehaters on April 08, 2016, 03:54:42 PM
My prediction is that GNR will be doing some press/promotion for this summer tour.  I don't see (50k-60k) stadiums selling out like Vegas.  First off, Vegas was/are the first shows on tour.  Secondly, it's Vegas!  People are much more inclined to travel to Vegas then lets say Detroit.  Third, the prices are steep.

I wouldn't be surprised if some sort of promotion was in the contract.  No need to do much promotion before tickets go on sale....because what if shows sell out?  Then no need.  But once/if shows don't sell out, GNR may just be required to get out and do something.

I think what they have done up to this point has been great.  And good performances over the next few weeks is promotion itself.  However, they may need to pull everything out for this tour!

There will probably be some promotion coming up, I agree.

The shows have sold way better than the vibe on some forums told me beforehand.

We are looking at several sold-out shows already and this is just day 1.

Are you on some sort of time delay?

Tickets are already on sale and are selling great without them lifting a finger.

This morning in the Nashville area, as the 6am news was on, during a commericial they did this black and white vid, with Gn'FnR and all that in red with Paradise City playing in the back ground...

They were announcing the show at Nissan Stadium, and tickets go on sale today at 10 am etc...

Pretty exciting to see that in my living room.

Several sold out shows?  On the summer tour?

Toronto, Chicago, Boston and New York are as good as sold out last I checked (a couple of hours ago).

I'm sure they are selling good...but how do you know GREAT?

My point is that I don't see the US summer shows selling out in minutes (if at all) like they did in Vegas.  If I'm wrong, great!

Really...awesome!  How would you know though....unless it actually says sold out?

By checking Ticketmaster.

When I say "as good as", there are some scattered single seats available. So in reality the shows are 99.99% sold out.

Well Seattle isn't selling like that.  I checked not too long ago, and you could get 4 tickets together pretty much anywhere.

Yes, not all shows are selling that fast.

Still over 2 months till the first show though, and as you initially suggested there will probably be some more promotion to get things going for the shows with remaining tickets.

Also, the sales for the east coast shows started 3 hours before the west coast shows.

I looked about an hour ago- it's quite weird actually. Some shows are sold out, while others there are loads of tickets for.

Quite a mix, but it's sold much better than I thought, given the prices. I don't think they need to do publicity.

The Seattle show isn't until August 12th.  Isn't Duff from Seattle?  Isn't he the youngest of eight children?  They could rename that show "McKagan Family Reunion" and fill that stadium with his family members alone.

If they put a killer performance at Coachella on streaming, it will ramp up even more the selling.

I thought they would sell quicker.  At least I thought Seattle would.

Seattle looks like its half full.   I need to sell 3 pairs of extra tickets.  Everytime there was a sale I kept getting better tickets.  The best ones I pulled up from nighttrain, you can go on ticketmaster right now and buy the row behind it.. ugh... hopefully these start selling.

I'm only trying to break even...  At least the pair I'm going to keep is in the pit on Slash's side :)

Judging by what tickets are available for the July 14th show at Lincoln Financial, I'd say their stop in Philadelphia is a success!

There was good radio promotion here in Philly area.

Also checked my hometown Detroit, and tickets are selling well for the Summer Tour opener at Ford Field.

Like I said....I predict some more promotion/interviews/etc with still a lot of seats to fill
