Title: Expectations for Vegas shows Post by: inlikeflynn420 on April 06, 2016, 12:51:12 AM What are you expecting from these shows, this lineup? Personally, I'm setting the bar pretty fucking high. I'm so glad they didn't just put together a nostalgia lineup (Gilby? Matt?). The fact that they kept Frank and, especially, Richard has me excited about the band musically. I expect this lineup to bring it, and bring it BIG. I know the excitement and the energy will be there. I want them to show the world that they are back, and that the new guys rock, and they're ready to kick ass and take names. I am so fucking excited about the show on Friday!!!
Title: Re: Expectations for Vegas shows Post by: Thorned Rose on April 06, 2016, 12:57:29 AM I'm expecting a more epic, and fleshed out set, with more room and a bigger crowd etc.
22-24 songs. Should be incredible. Gunning for "This I Love" Title: Re: Expectations for Vegas shows Post by: GNR4L on April 06, 2016, 01:00:42 AM I'm excited to see Slash's take on the Chinese material... I fly out on Thursday, I can't wait to see my fav band ! in my favorite city !

Title: Re: Expectations for Vegas shows Post by: kaasupoltin on April 06, 2016, 01:35:20 AM I think they might be a little more relaxed already. Not that there seemed to be any tensions at Troubadour, but I'm just assuming that the first gig was faster and more compact than what we might see later this year.
Better videos ;D And this! Title: Re: Expectations for Vegas shows Post by: younggunner on April 06, 2016, 09:20:46 AM I am hoping for a show similar to RIR 3 where Axl and the band kind of take there time and deliver an epic performance.
Also hoping Axl and the band talk a little more at these shows about the band etc. They should treat this like a GnR convention. 90-95% of the building is the hardcore fan base. But ultimately, if they play a 3 hr monster set each night that would be great! Title: Re: Expectations for Vegas shows Post by: Ginger King on April 06, 2016, 09:40:52 AM I can't wait for this weekend! We know probably 90% of the setlist, so I'm not too concerned about what they play...a little variation between nights would be nice but whatever. I'm really interested to see their interactions, Axl's ad-lib conversations with the crowd, and what (if any) surprises they have in store.
On a side note, I am this close to forgiving my parents who forbid a then 10 year old Ginger King from going to a Guns n Roses concert in 1988. I never thought I would get the chance to see Axl, Slash and Duff on the same stage. Title: Re: Expectations for Vegas shows Post by: Eeebs on April 06, 2016, 09:46:27 AM I am hoping to live vicariously through others who are going to the show - by reading up on tonnes of amazing reviews and seeing some awesome pictures and videos. I think/know it will be an epic night. I am looking forward to articles in newspapers, magazines, online following the show. I hope the show will trends on twitter and facebook. Following the tour dates, I hope some new material will finally be released!

Mom did 25 years, 25 hard years, on the outs with me on this point. Title: Re: Expectations for Vegas shows Post by: Factory Girl on April 06, 2016, 10:18:37 AM I can't wait for this weekend! I had a similar experience when my dad, having had a few beers, promised to take me to a GNR show in the 90s when I was a kid. My mom, of course, when I told her about it, forbade me from going and promised something more appropriate for a little girl...and that has never happened either. I blame her since then. Hahaha. Title: Re: Expectations for Vegas shows Post by: Jbat81 on April 06, 2016, 11:30:38 AM Well, I expect for me to cry... lol. Hoping for at least 2:30hr set. I set up a Periscope account as JBAT81.... Title: Re: Expectations for Vegas shows Post by: Lord Stan on April 06, 2016, 02:14:00 PM What's our best guess when they might hit the stage? You know for those of us who need to set an alarm for live text and nowadays, of course, Periscope. I just hope that it won't crash. I heard of an event, which 60,000 were following and then Periscope crashed.
Safe to wake up at 10pm and then it shouldn't be too long a wait. Or is that just way too early? Its on these stadium in a few months that shit has to end. He best be out there by 10:30, tops. I hope its more 10PM. Title: Re: Expectations for Vegas shows Post by: johnreed3344 on April 06, 2016, 02:42:37 PM doors 8pm, ticket says 930.....AIC 940ish.....GNR 1130 I'm calling
Title: Re: Expectations for Vegas shows Post by: Spirit on April 06, 2016, 02:48:31 PM doors 8pm, ticket says 930.....AIC 940ish.....GNR 1130 I'm calling If the ticket says 9:30 and the doors open at 8:00, isn't that a long time to wait for the opening act to start after they've started letting people in? I'm assuming then the 9:30 time is the start of the opening act. I know this can differ from venue to venue. Title: Re: Expectations for Vegas shows Post by: D-GenerationX on April 06, 2016, 03:20:46 PM I thought they let you in an 60-90 before showtime. And the time printed on the ticket is when the opening band starts. No?
So, doors at 8...AIC at 9:30...GNR 11(ish). That would be my guess. Our tickets for the summer list 8:30. So I'm hoping that means the opener at 8:30 and GNR at 10(ish). Title: Re: Expectations for Vegas shows Post by: Spirit on April 06, 2016, 03:23:52 PM I thought they let you in an 60-90 before showtime. Yeah, if the opening band is scheduled to start at 9:30, my 10 o'clock prediction for GN'R is obviously out the window. :hihi: Title: Re: Expectations for Vegas shows Post by: D-GenerationX on April 06, 2016, 03:29:31 PM I thought they let you in an 60-90 before showtime. Opener usually gets, what, about 45 minutes? Have to think they give AIC an hour though. Title: Re: Expectations for Vegas shows Post by: Bodhi on April 06, 2016, 03:36:16 PM Yeah doors opening 60-90 minutes before the opening act is not strange, especially when there is only one band opening. If there were a smaller band opening before AIC then they would probably start around 8:45. 9:30 start for AIC sounds about right, I wouldnt expect GNR before 11, I'm guessing it will be around midnight.

No songs from Appetite, Illusions or Democracy. Every song is going to be new. And each show will be six hours long.
Yeah, I think that's realistic. : ok: Title: Re: Expectations for Vegas shows Post by: Lord Stan on April 06, 2016, 05:17:45 PM Who cares about start times! Its Vegas...no curfews!! The "ticket time" was like 8, which was tight with my cross country flight, but I figured I could race there and make it before his set started. Well... Slash def started at 8 sharp that night and I missed 80% of his set. Ozzy was good though. Made me always want to know the set times if possible and not make assumptions. Incidentally, at all of Axl's Hard Rock shows, he was extremely punctual (I assume for contractual reasons). It was never an issue w the band going on too soon or waiting to long - he just was really on top of it, and didn't just say "f it I'm in Vegas".
