That's kind of creepy IMO.

I think (hope) Izzy already knows how much the fans would love for him to be there.

I think most fans feel that it's Izzy's personal choice not to be a permanent player in the band.

That just seems like guilt is being placed on Izzy. If Izzy ends up coming mainly because he feels guilty, not sure if that's alright.

The shows haven't actually been advertised as reunion shows, and haven't been called that except by some fans and media.

This petition doesn't feel right  :nervous:

At the very least, it's a semi- Illusions tour reunion as the same amount of the classic lineup that were in most of the Illusions tour, will be in this one.  That's why having Izzy would make it that much closer to a classic lineup reunion.

But it hasn't ever been promoted nor advertised as a reunion show period- only media and fans have used that label.

I'm good with shows as they are, if Izzy decides he wants to show up I'm sure that option is open.

This petition feels like a strong arm attempt at manipulation. :nervous:

It hasn't been promoted as such probably for legal reasons is my guess.  But the most fans are calling it a reunion.  If you feel it's an attempt at manipulation, don't sign it...lol.

The premise that "most fans" are calling it a reunion in no way refutes the fact that it has never been advertised nor promoted as such in any official capacity.

It hasn't been promoted as a reunion, but the promo videos show only Axl, Slash and Duff, which leaves the door open for speculation to who the rest of the band members will be.

So you can say they've indirectly invited people to think so, giving no statements on the full line-up yet.

Hardly- IF it were a full reunion of the AFD lineup it would be extremely downright stupid not to advertise it as such.

Only fans,some media outlets, and some petition writers  have called this a reunion.

For us hardcore fans here at the message boards, sure.

For a casual fan just seeing Axl, Slash and Duff in a promo video... not that sure. I think many of those people saw the video and though "Hmm, looks like GN'R have reunited".

Does the casual fan know who is in GNR aside from Slash, Axl and to a lesser degree Duff? I doubt it.

That twitter account was allegedly started by Izzy to let the fans know his current status concerning his participation in the upcoming GNR shows.  Why not just post there?

You'd be surprised how many people willing to shell out $300+ a pop per ticket know exactly who the classic lineup of G N' R was.  They bought the albums, they bought the posters back in the day, etc.   I'd be willing to bet the majority of them paying to see them know exactly who Izzy is.  It still doesn't mean they won't go.....but if you asked them, I'm pretty sure they would love to see him involved.

If they have shown the current line-up in the promo, I don't think many would have noticed if it was Izzy or Richard. Frank and Steven aren't much alike though.

yep...me thinks the speculation and bullshit should end.Some kick ass Gnr shows coming. The band will be what it will be when they hit the stage. I think it is very smart on Gnr's part to hold your cards at this point. I am a huge Izzy fan, but he doesn't need our help with this gig. They are grown men...let them handle their own business.

I don't think it can do any harm. If Izzy doesn't want to do it, he won't do it just because some random guy said that he bought the ticket because he thought Izzy was gonna be there. It won't have any effect if he already made up his mind or he just can't do it.
On the other hand, maybe it helps if he has already considered joining them. Anyway, I think it's really nice and maybe he will be flattered by the initiative.

Stooopid fucking topic.  Izzy does what izzy does.  Some of the topics that get started or reported are beyond rediciluous.

Who is the petition directed at?  Is it directed at Izzy based on the assumption that he doesn't want to do this and the petitioners want to change his mind?  Or is it directed at the trio based on the assumption that Izzy was not asked to be involved this?  Or if he was asked, to meet whatever demands Izzy has (whether it's more money, more flexibility, who knows)?

Why would anyone start a petition for something where you don't know if he even wants to be a part of it or not certainly not a full time spot because he doesn't want that. Nobody has come out and said we did or didn't want him nobody is talking in full clarity. Izzy could easily come out and say hey i was offered a spot i didn't want it or i was never approached about joining this whole thing is nonsense.

It's not a reunion... Anybody would promote the two biggest names rejoining a band they were once in... Tommy, DJ, Bumble left so they were replaced.

It really is looking more like a case of Slash and Duff replacing the guys who left, rather than Axl, Slash and Duff reuniting and then filling out the remaining band slots.  If that's the case, wouldn't it be unlikely that they ever asked Izzy to participate?  If Slash doesn't want to share lead guitar duties, there's no need for a 3rd guitarist and they already have Richard to play rhythm. 

Plus, you have Axl's comments from years ago that only Slash and Duff could handle a full tour.  On top of that, I believe all of Izzy's appearances in recent years came about because he asked Axl, not because Axl invited him.  Izzy confirmed that was the case for the 2006 appearances, so I assume that's how it happened with his other appearances as well. 

Absolutely.  Izzy knows that the band would totally embrace him with open arms. 

No thanks. I'm busy signing petitions for wold peace, end world hunger and petitions against other petitions...

We are all fanatics... we all come here on a daily basis and have severe interest in the comings and goings.

However... some people out there take this stuff to the extreme... the people who have instagram accounts devoted to the guys in the band and  their families and girlfriend's... it's crazy... and borderline creepy. There has to be a line.

I get the impression a lot of these accounts originate in South America... I don't know why that is...but it seems that way.

This petition... not sure who started it... but it falls in the same category... I'd love to see Izzy up there on April 8th as much as anybody... but c'mon...

Yeah, this seems a bit drastic. I paid a ton of money too, and seeing Axl and Slash on the same stage together for 2-3 hours will be MORE than worth it.  It's something I never thought I'd get to experience in my lifetime.

A lot of people rolled their eyes at first when they called this a regrouping instead of a reunion.  I, myself, didn't get the wording in the releases either.  But boy, do I get it now.  Can you imagine the cyber-fits people would be throwing if they labeled this a "reunion" from the get go?  Yikes.

 I thought this was a cool idea when Tom posted the original petition last night.(On another forum)  The original seemed a little overboard with the drama and made it seem as if it was all on Izzy's shoulders for it to happen.  When we realized that, a new, modified version was started.

  This is just a way for fans to say that they appreciate Izzy's contributions to G N' R and would like to see him involved.  The Vegas shows are sold out.  Coachella shows are sold out.  We know that G N' R didn't need Izzy to sell out these shows, but it would be nice to see him there.  That's all this is, nothing more, nothing less.  So no need to get offended by it, etc.  If you feel it's pointless or don't care, don't sign the petition.

We may not get Izzy in Vegas or Coachella but who knows, we may eventually get him at some point....and I think that would be pretty cool too.

Izzy went out of his way to start a twitter account to let the fans know his status as it concerns the announced shows.  Isn't it kind of insulting for the fans to ignore that and make this petition instead?

@IzzyStradlin999 GNR fans appreciate your contributions to the band and would like to see you involved in the upcoming shows  is less that 140 characters.

I'm the middle man here.  I didn't start the original, which was some 500+ word rant about how Izzy promised to be there and that they had spent thousands of dollars expecting to see him.  All I did was help make the modified version, which is a much lighter, fun request to see him there.  One of the two would have eventually made it across message boards.(the first was already on another one)...trust me, this is the better of the two.

As others have said... when the lights go off just before the first song is played... all eyes are on 2 people..... and thats basically the end of it.

This petition is pretty lame.  I haven't read it, but the general idea makes no sense.  I don't get the feeling Izzy is being prevented from joining the band, as he is cool with the members and has played with them several times before.  Has it ever occurred to some people that maybe he is just not that into it?  Whatever the case may be with Izzy and his potential involvement I don't think a petition is the one thing thats magically going to make it happen.  I am sure he and the band both know how much fans love him.

I swear some people are never happy.  I know we have said that before, but the last 2 months really proved it.  This is an amazing/improbable time in the bands history, enjoy it!   Some fans negativity seems to be as high as late 2006 when they were counting each remaining Tuesday left in the year because somebody, not the band mind you, inferred the record could randomly come out one of those days.

You know, for years I got the feeling that just Slash rejoining the band would be all that some people on here and elsewhere on the internet needed in life.  It was the most important thing in the world to them.  Now they have that, and some of those same people are still not satisfied.  Some of those same people are saying its not really Guns N Roses if Steven of all people isn't involved.  I swear, never in a million years did I ever think that if Slash and Duff came back to the band  that people would be bitching about it not really being GNR without Steven.  I swear I can't believe it.


That's a little off topic, and thats not to shit on Steven, I'm just saying some people will never be happy.  The "Appetite" line up could get back together tomorrow(cause thats the real GNR right?  ::) ) and do a tour playing the whole record front to back in every state in America and every country across the world for the 30th Anniversary, and some people would still complain that they didn't play every song off of "Lies" too.

I was accused for a long time of being a moaner and whinger last year when things were extremely quiet and there was no indication of what was happening. From the outside it looked a complete mess... and you know what... maybe it wasnt a mess at all.. maybe this was all in the works 2 years ago... or... maybe it was a complete mess and by some sort of miracle its all come together.

Either way, looking back on that... compared to where we are now... i am extremely happy with what we have right now. If theres a choice between Izzy and richard.. of course id prefer Izzy.. but there isnt a choice at all.. and what we have is a band that has people really talking again. Slash and Axl back on the same stage again????? Thats huge... nobody thought this would ever happen... not even Axl for a long long time.. .so for this to be happening.. people should really just quit the bitching and enjoy it.. all eyes are on them, and its a massive night in the bands story when this kicks off. So for people to be still whinging... it makes completely no sense to me.

I will concede that it was, hands down, one of the dumbest things I've heard said by someone affiliated with a major league act.  But let's not pretend this was some random nobody on the internet popping off.

Right, never meant to say it was a random guy although looking back at my wording it comes  across like that.   I have no idea what was going on with that management,  I was just including it never came from any of the band members.  That's  neither here nor there, I was merely making a comparison on the negativity level.   At least with that,  I could understand fans being a little negative when management hints at something that everyone was anticipating for years   and it never happens.  But to be frustrated here in March of 2016 with everything we have happening,  I will never understand.

Some people will never be pleased. "It's no GN'R without Slash" was the war cry for years. But now that Slash is back (and Duff too) and the band is about to start touring, they still have so much to cry about. Even if Izzy would join the lineup, there'd be something else to cheer for... Kick Pitman out? It's no GN'R without Steven? Play Wild Horses just like in 1992? Axl sounds shit? CD took 15 years to come out? Why are they so silent? It's an endless road.

Anyway, like I said, this has as much to do with showing appreciation for Izzy than anything else

I'm about 100% sure Izzy doesn't mind this at all.  ;)

If Izzy was asked to participate and he's not interested, then, I agree, the petition makes no sense.  But if he wasn't asked, I think the petition is a nice gesture to him, to the effect that, maybe the band hasn't asked him, but at least his fans are asking for him to be there.  But without knowing either way, this petition kind of jumps the gun on that point.

Anyway, I know the presumption is that Izzy is not doing this by choice, and that may be true, but we don't know that for sure.

Lets start a petition and make somebody do something against their will...  Gotta love GnR fans ! never pleased.

I don?t think it?s all that far fetched of a theory to think that Izzy may be interested in the concept of a reunion, but not in love with the current rumored inclusion/exclusion of certain members.
Before anyone wants to hop back aboard the semantics train about this not being promoted as a reunion, duly noted.
Doesn?t change the fact that the sole reason GN?R is back in the daily news is because of the partial reunion.

Perhaps Izzy is not happy about the percentage of money he was/wasn?t offered. He seems like a cool cat, but most people wouldn?t sneeze at the money that this band he co-founded will be bringing in on this tour, playing songs he wrote. He?s stated his desire in the past to play again with the old band, and as far as we know, is still cool with everyone, so from where I?m sitting, it seems just as likely that something broke down during negotiations, as the theory that Izzy simply can?t be bothered.

Do I think the petition will change matters? No. Did I sign it? No.
But while it?s obviously not quite as productive as pointing out the petition?s flaws, offering unsolicited amateur advice, wondering aloud why all fans can?t adopt a singular point of view, asking for god damn things we aren?t owed, incessantly whining about other fans incessant whining, or any of the other countless real world problems solved on a daily basis here at htgth, I think the person who created the petitions heart was in the right place, and don?t see the harm in showing Izzy a little appreciation.

I agree.  More of that talk than I would have expected.

I think at least some of that will be assuaged with a full set of tour dates.  Once people see they are coming to their town or close to it, I think a lot of the uncertainty will dissipate.

To some, that comes across as a demand.  It's not.  Just an observation that whenever the spirit moves them to tell us, the mood is likely to improve.

Just on a personal level, I'd like the dates just so my friends stop hounding me.  As if I know something, but am holding out or something.

There's no point in signing a petition to make him do it. I'm just so glad Slash and Duff are back in the band. If Izzy wants to get involved in the band again then that's his own business. He doesn't need a bunch of fans signing a petition so he will play. Of course it would be great to have him back in the band but it's a new era and they're gonna sound awesome. Any Slash gigs I've been to sound amazing. He is 'the' Guns N' Roses lead guitarist. The other guys were great but Slash is the guy and Duff too   

He'll do what he wants as and when he wants to do it.  I don't think an online petition is going to do anything (ask Firefly fans...)
