Maybe they're not going to do a huge rollout announcement for the N.A. tour...Maybe each individual big city will get it's own announcement, video, etc.   Could be an interesting way to do it.  Might be a better way to do it nowadays from a marketing standpoint.

Okay, so they will be setting up their own stadium stage between the Coachella dates. I'm just guessing here, but I think once they are on the road with the stage, I don't think there will be a long break after the second Coachella weekend and the next concert date.

GNR reuniting and playing a 50k + capacity stadium....  On a Tuesday...  You can slap my ass and call me sally cause I would have never in a billion years believed that.  Cheers to exceeding all expectations.  George Bernard Shaw said "All progress  depends on the unreasonable man."  I'd say this is case in point. :beer:

Great news for GNR fans in Mexico. Still hoping for more US dates will happen. Hopefully Europe will get some good news too.

I'm thinking there's a chance of a second date in there, there's time before Coachella on Saturday. They probably want to see how the sale goes first.

I have a feeling we'll see the 25-city stadium tour of North America first now.

But yeah, crossing my fingers for Europe this year :)

It looks to me like the European festival circuit is unlikely.

I think the US is the place to be this summer. I just hope they announce a full tour so can plan my trip across the pond.

I'm from Mexico... to be honest, I feel screwed with this... when the Coachella tix came up, I paid for them like thinking the huge price would be worth it in order to be the of the first ones seeing them... and after that, LV... and now, Mexico City... both of them BEFORE Coachella..... something like when in 2006 the HB in NY, the 1st concert was in May 15th, and later on, 2 more concerts were opened... before 15th!... well... I guess we the fans are never satisfied....  :(

I have a ticket for the concert of The Rolling Stones in March, which I bought for 137 USD, GNR concert will cost 155 USD in the same area.

GNR concert will be general admission, the ticket will cost about 105 USD. For the concert of The Rolling Stones cost over 500 USD in seating areas facing the stage.  :o

Would the stadium stage used in 2011 not still be in storage somewhere? I think that's the last time Guns did stadium shows (La Plata, etc). Dunno if they need to build a whole new stage for this tour.

I was in the same dilemma, ,but after thinking about it, I bet that there would be warm up shows as always =). Also another thing is that none of the bands playing Coachella are my taste none Hard Rock bands like GNR, hence I did not want to spent money to that festival and take the risk.

It's expensive, actually. But that's due to the peso depreciation that we have now. Just for you to compare... I was in that same venue, most expensive ticket to see Foo Fighters 2 years ago. Round numbers, Gn'R costs now 3,000 MXN; Foo Fighters, same venue, same area 2 years ago 1,500 MXN.

I mean, I still think that the fact that Gn'R is reunited is way bigger than Foo... but! back then it was the 1st Foo concert in Mexico...

Just comparing prices, not trying to say who is better or not...

I?ve been to that Foro Sol venue multiple times to see Pearl Jam, Muse, Roger Waters, Coldplay, Paul McCartney, Bon Jovi, Collective Soul and some more. Maybe the second biggest concert venue in MX after Estadio Azteca.

The long-in-the-making reunion of Guns N' Roses has gone international, with the hard rockers announcing a show in Mexico City.

The band, performing for the first time in 23 years with the original lineup of Axl Rose and Slash, posted a video on its website giving an April 19 date for a concert at the Foro Sol stadium.

The show will come halfway between the rockers' two performances at the Coachella festival, which takes place over back-to-back weekends in the California desert.

After announcing the Coachella reunion, Guns N' Roses scheduled additional concerts for early April in Las Vegas.

Guns N' Roses, marked by Rose's raw but soaring voice and Slash's intricate guitar, enjoyed extraordinary success with 1987 album "Appetite for Destruction," which remains the top-selling US debut ever.

But tensions were never far from the surface and the band's classic lineup last played together in 1993 in Buenos Aires.

The band, which has received years of lucrative offers for a reunion, is reportedly looking at a wider tour.

I am owning a pressite and to be honest , I think this is part the fault of Management.
Let me explain.

I often get pressreleases ( or not )  without press pics. If an band/Management wants to be certain that the press won't make a mistake or use an outdated pic.... well management should provide it . This way the journalist is less able to make an mistake.

On the other hand if i get an press release without press image i have three choices :
1:  don't publish (  that would be real lazy )
2: Ask the source for an current image
3: Do some homework and go looking for an updated picture!

If GNR Management provide better resources for the media this kinda mistakes would be less.....

Now that we had some time to let the reality of the reunion sink in...

... how utterly WRONG the sight of Axl with some random guy on guitar feels again all of a sudden !

well, on the other hand, GNR were for long years during ChiDem era presented with totally wrong photos from the classic era, so it doesn't really matter.

Well again if the band/management did provide pics or do an shoot with the new members .....

Not saying management does a lousy job ..
They got some old friends together and did not let GNR bleed dead.

Still it seems there can some little things they can work on. Like providing news to the masses on the correct way

I just saw that Mexico City is at 7,400 feet. That has to be pretty hard on vocals for Axl.

The UK paper that is in is notoriously awful- constant errors, false information and rabble rousing. They'll have put 'guns n roses' into their picture archive and used the first thing that came up.

Yeah, he says that very thing in the Oklahoma concert from April 1992. 

The previous show was there 4 days earlier, and he said he wasn't used to having this much oxygen.

You are 100% wrong in placing any blame on GNR Management in this case.

First off, I looked up what "pressite" is:  "Introducing Pressites.  A landing page for your press release, from The Press Writers."

In the article itself, the dailymail.co.uk clearly states THEIR SOURCE IS THE VIDEO FROM THE BAND'S WEBSITE.

NOWHERE DID the dailymail.co.uk QUOTE OR REFERENCE THE PRESS RELEASE ISSUED ON www.gunsnroses.com.
 

And I am positive that the press release and video provided by the GNR camp did NOT contain that particular pic used by the dailymail.

As far as Gn'R management goes... they sucked big time in the past.

I'm talking from 2002-2005 or so. That was just the most frustrating stuff ever.

Not sure what exactly it was that flicked the light switch on, but don't care either.  Things are great now and that's all that matters.

True I would agree that there have been some very frustrating times. But I think a big difference here now with management is they allowed Axl to ge to where we are now, on his own without being "forced or shoved into it". At least that's my perception. I don't think Beta, Fernando or anyone was busting his balls on how to move forward with Guns, and that his relation with Slash was more organic. And I'm sure Duff facilitated a lot. But I think that Team Brazil didn't like others try to undermine Axl or try to force something .But now that it's a go. They are proving to be capable of now doing what we always wanted them to.

The press uses whatever photos they want. It?s up to them to use the photos they have bought or have the right to use.

That's why you sometimes see articles use decade old photos, or photos of members who aren't in the band anymore.

Not much the band can do about that....

Yeah, but if a press release is sent with attached promo photos, its easier for the journalist to use it. Of course, big outlets tend to use whatever their archive have. But even on PR Newswire and Businesswire you can at least attach links to hi-res photos for the press. :)

No going forward. Mexico, Brazil ... those fans are crazy for Gn'R plus not many bands go there really that often.

With so many sell outs including Vegas the desire is there clearly.

In that case I propose that selling out stadiums is realistic.

I'm pretty sure Iron Maiden sold out the National Stadium in Chile (or near as dammit, anyway - you can see it in their most recent live DVD).  Now, I know Maiden have been much more active in the public eye than Guns have for many years, but if a metal band can do it, you'd imagine a relatively more mainstream hard rock act like Guns could as well. 

I watched the Formula 1 race on TV last year, and that part of the track with all those fans was really cool.
I bet the atmosphere for the shows will be similarly electric!

I just don't get the phones. Someone else will be recording it anyway and by the time you get back home or to your hotel the first clips will have come up already. Then after a couple of days we get some very good quality stuff.

So why bother yourself as the chances are someone else will have better quality anyway.

But this is something that will never change or yes it will but only to worse.

Seems a little backwards to hear all this bitching about the phones at concerts when we spend every show thread looking for as many Periscope links as we can find.

Well, it is cool to see youtube clips, so I am grateful to those who bothers.

I don't think its backwards at all, and let me explain why....

I rarely watch these clips on YT because the quality is usually crap, and it takes away from the experience I will have when I'll actually go to a show. So these clips aren't for me. Also, to me at least, there's a difference between someone periscoping the show from a seated area way up high (like FEDE did in Las Vegas) or having the pit up front consisting mostly of people standing still watching their phones. It simply takes away from the experience. I'm not that old (36) but back when smartphones weren't everyone's life support people actually jumped, danced, sang and did whatever at a rock show. I remember going to a Prodigy show once and the entire audience bounced up and down throughout the venue ALL NIGHT LONG. I literally saw every corner of the venue and it was such an amazing feeling to be part of such an experience, with all these people at the same time.

To me, all these people standing still holding up their phone are prohibiting me from having a similar experience. It's a rock show so I am going to get pumped when I hear the opening to WTTJ or ISE. If I then have to stand still because some people want to stand still to film they get in the way of me enjoying the show.

So to me "bitching" about the phones is definitely legit. I don't need the crappy YouTube uploads. Just because you enjoy them doesn't mean everyone does. Also, people pay quite some money for a show. If they can't really see the stage because everyone and their mother is holding up their phone blocking the view it devaluates the tickets and thus the experience.

You owe them nothing.

If they want to do whatever with their phones...hey, have at it.  But they work around everyone else and they get what they get.

Brazil, where I live, used to be one of the best crowds in the world. Until smartphones came. Now people just stand there filming the whole goddamn show.

Amen my friend. I'm 100% with you here. Actually to all the rock-heavy-punk concerts that I'm attending I usually leave my phone home. And I really don't care about the people that want to film or whatever. I jump, I enter the mosh-pit (if any). If you want to film, go to the floor section. At least this is how it works in Europe. I'm OK with it. :)

I find it amusing everyone going mad about people recording because if it wasn't for them we'd have nothing to watch and would then moan about that... I can record on my I phone and go mad at the same time, seen GNR four times and i go crazy but I like to record and look back, no big deal at all..seriously. I'm sure when they go to South America we will see wild crowds, Europe is great too. Just be happy that we can actually see videos of them.

In general I agree, however there are some crazy crowd in The Balkans as well,  believe me. :)

He has that extra rasp on the lower and upper registers.  Estranged sounded best since 1993.   It is all so good, but for Axl to perform at this level and Slash next to him....I honestly still am stunned!

I had a serious fear of them playing half filled venues and how that would be perceived.  Could not be happier with the outcome.

He was never going to sound like 1992 again, and that was not a realistic wish.  But I was so down on the 2011-2014 shows because he just had no power behind it.  I was in my iTunes last night and called up some 2012 shows.  They are painful and depressing.  Still boggles my mind they put that DVD out with him sounding like that.

Very much hope there is a DVD live album from this tour though.  More prefer the live album though, as I'm more of an audio guy.

i saw paul mcartney the night before last and i can think of ten people i saw who spent the entire show watching it through their phones. these days it seems, that's how people are taking in life, through their phones. it's scary. the high definition quality of a show if you put your phone away is amazing. Would you guys really be upset if you didn't get to see some videos from the tour? the video you watched of WTTJ live is probably exactly the same as the video you watched last week.

Agree Gen x, He sings You Could Be Mine, PC, and so many songs better than he did for those 4 years.  I am wondering if he will get even closer to 2010 as he seems to be getting more rasp in his lower register on sings he had not since then.

I do agree with you with your points, it's hard to admit but true. I saw them in 2012 twice and after Chinese, wttj, brownstone and its so easy he just drifted off.. and like you said no power. I was really surprised that they released that DVD. Why on earth they didn't release one in either 2006 or 2010 I don't know because his voice was fire. I preferred his 1993 voice to 1992. That last show in argentina blew my mind, the amount of power he had in his voice was insane and then obviously go back to the early days where his voice was unbelievable. Now I'm really happy with where he's at. I honestly didn't mind him between 2011 to 2014 because to me he's like my idol but I admit that was probably his worst stint.

People record the shows for various reasons and I think it's kind of stupid to make fun of them when most of the people on here are looking for the best youtube video around.

Now, I do think it's dumb to go to a show and record the whole thing while holding your phone (unless there's some monetary benefit out of it and that's the only thing you care about).

But for example, when I go, I usually record a song, maybe two, and then I ask my wife to do one. That's it. I want to document the moment for me personally, almost like the old days when we put photos in photo albums. (Showing my age here.)

I actually have some pretty bad ass hi def stuff that I've never released - just songs here and there and nothing rare like Vegas 2000 - but certainly stuff that's way better than what's out there. I do it because it's something I want to enjoy every now and then and it helps me relive that night. Especially since I'm usually half in the tank by the time the band goes on. Heh.

What a Great show last Night! My signal was terrible so I couldn ?periscope?not even one song.  Also, I'm an old school fan, so...the idea of watching the show through a cellphone is not for me. As much as the person asking for the phone to be put down would be 'in the right'... A highly non scientific study I have done tells my that more often than not, the person asking to put down the phone and not the person refusing to put down the phone tends to get the worst of it...

Again, that is my own non scientific study, but that is usually how I see similar situations play out.

Honestly though, we haven't seen them yet outside of North America... it may be a different experience in South America and Europe. I can remember the last time I saw a US crowd 'bounce' non stop for 3 hours like you see outside of this country... and honestly I'm glad, I'm 37 going on 38, I am there to watch a concert not take part in the 50K person Zubma class.

I know it was a phone cam recording of a soundcheck but after listening to TWAT during the Vegas soundcheck, its clear that Axl isnt ready for it yet.  In all honesty, I don't recall him ever sounding like the Album recording when its been sung live ever since its debut in the Hammerstein gigs back in 2006.

It is highly annoying watching people record full fucking shows standing right in front of you on their cell phone. As someone else said.. thats the world we live in these days. I honestly think things like gigs and going to the movies is the perfect opportunity to escape the world, why anyone would want to be watching a concert through their shitty cell phone when they are actually AT the concert is beyond me.. but again... thats the world we live in. Pretty fucked up really.

My impression or Coma is kinda fast paced on this one? Its a smooth change but it sounds faster to me....maybe the band needs some time playing larger venues to adjust their sound on this type of venue.

Are these shows actually being recorded? Are these pro-shot images or just a collection of crew member recordings edited together? Was wondering if we could hope to have a VEGAS release someday, and a stadium tour release?

Jarmo, are you at liberty of discussing filming in any way shape or form? Have you at least seen any pros in the tranches, holding big cameras? Other than the guys who film for the show screens? If can't discuss, totally understandable :).
