And Izzy will saunter in a few nights and do 2-3 songs. Adler will get a chance to play a song or two, and my guess, might even be done 38 Special style. With both drummers. I’ve heard from sources Axl does not like Sorum, and he’s also said a few dumb things in recent years – so he’s not likely to be there unless he bought a ticket. This looks like a couple of cobbled together quotes pulled from here and there. Niven says "I think" and who knows if it's even accurate, Duff's wife just seems to be positive in general (which is cool, but people shouldn't read too much into it), and Sludge = whatever people over there pull out of their ass.
In all honesty I think the last thing Izzy wrote with/for GNR is likely still that Down by the Ocean song. Ive heard some songs of his, where I imagine Axl singing either the lead vocals or doing back up, as well as the rest of the gang. He's got solid songs that can become GNR Songs.

Slash in that rehearsal space already, Les Paul in hand, only adds to positive speculation regarding something "new" being cooked up. And there aren't THAT MANY songs he hasn't played live recently (Estranged & November Rain only come to mind, along with some deep cuts) that he'd need over two months to bone up on. Axl's a smart man, who rides waves of positive energy into the studio. With all the positive hype surrounding the band and whole album and then some of finished music over the past years...I could see him giving a nice handful to Slash to tear into. While Slash may play a lot of those songs fairly often, the particular combination of people who'll take the stage (assuming it is Axl, Slash, Duff, Richard, Dizzy, Chris, Frank) will need some time to get used to playing them together. It'll take a bit of work to get it to gel, and they'll be wanting a mindblowing performance for Coachella.

There is a side of me that believes Axl canceled on Kimmel because he wasn't in the best shape yet...and needs some more time. I could very well be wrong, and maybe he doesn't really give a rats ass what he looks like. However, after hearing what Slash told his brother (that Axl is rumored to be on a strict workout routine), makes me think he's working hard for all this to go well. And from that picture that we saw of Axl a week before Christmas, he didn't look to have had lost much weight yet. On another note, watching that clip of sweet child o mine ....I think that's a very hard song for him to sing anymore. That high pitch voice comes out in that song all the time.
