Yes, the membership says ''out of stock'', but if you were a member in the past (like me), after you login you are given the chance to renew your membresy, and you can go even until the last page/step in PayPal. You pay, and nothing happens. Then you come back to the site and it says there was an error, to try again later or something like that.

So...either things are about to get a lot better or a lot worse. Hmm...

Me too.  Been a Nightrain member for a while but have been having problems renewing.  I'm over here like, "hey, I'd like to give you some more of my money."  Maybe one day they'll let me again.

Oh yeah, Christ the news will spread wherever its broken. One recent photo of Axl and Slash together on Nightrain will be everywhere tomorrow. Maybe it's a 'let the diehards know first thing' (not that I believe those who pony up for the fan club are necessarily the biggest fans by any stretch...not at all).

And yup, if Jarmo knows more than he's telling it sounds like we're not getting a TV announcement. Not sure it wasn't just an off the cuff remark though. Either way if it doesn't happen it's a big missed opportunity for something that would be remembered for years to come. People still talk about Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis' reunion as one of the greatest TV moments of all time!

Funny thing about this festival is that outside of Ice Cube and Rancid Guns n Roses are the only band i know at this and their musical style i would think is much different then a majority of these artists not that im complaining just an observation.

That is how that festival has being for a very long time.  I would say ACDC was even stranger.  Silversun pickups are playing as well those dates and they are heavy guitar with lots of distortion and feedback they often get compared to early Smashing Pumpkins.  

I took a quick look at this festival when the rumour started and it is not for those on a budget unless you live in the area or are willing to travel a bit to and from the venues.  Not being negative as this has always being an expensive festival and nothing to do with GnR.  Maybe day passes are way cheaper and if one has the cash what a great show to attend.   I am just wanting people to know that this festival is expensive period doesn't matter the year or who the bands are.  So any bitching about cost is not GnR.  

Well if Slash N Duff liked it if any other members like it like Richard, Frank, Chris, Izzy, Steven, Matt or whoever i guess would give us a good idea of whoelse is involved

Coachella is ALWAYS a very eclectic lineup of acts.  They range from pop to rock, and from established heavy hitters to underground no-names.  That's what they do.  Last year AC/DC headlined, along with Jack White and Drake.

They sell out, and their capacity is 99k per weekend.  So...I'd call that a huge crowd. :)

Advance sales (which is sorta like a big presale thing) are sold out...which are only for weekend 1.

The rest of weekend 1, and all of weekend 2, should go up at 11 AM PST, tomorrow (Jan 6th).

I'm pretty sure, last year, AC/DC's fan club got a day of "early access" to (a very limited number of) Coachella tickets last year.

I'm not sure if that will hold true for GnR THIS year, but that might shed some light on what's coming today.

You'd think they'd have announced this with info on who is in the band, and a press photo of them all together or something! Unless of course it's still up in the air as to who is in the band, which could explain a Jimmy Kimmell delay?

I would bet it is more likely that Coachella signed some sort of exclusive deal to be the first to publicly debut GNR as it is or something like that.  That might be the reason for the Kimmel cancellation IMO.  Maybe Kimmel after Coachella formal press conference or something.

Slash posting the GNR coachella gig on Instagram finally made me able to accept that this is really happening.

Axl, Slash, Duff Izzy and Dizzy are GN'R. The drummer never mattered. Izzy supposedly doesn't want to be a part of it, so I'm cool with whatever lineup they've put together as long as the others are in.

It's already the most legit version of the band since 1993. 

Anyone else is really just gravy.

It's unfortunate Izzy doesn't have any interest in being in a rock band and touring anymore aside of showing up here and there for a few songs, but it is what it is.

This really feels incredible.

Last time Axl shared the stage with Slash/Duff was 23 years ago. I was 17 then. I saw them in Madrid a few weeks before their last gig in Buenos Aires.

I'm so happy they managed to mend fences in some shape or fashion so they could get back together and give it another shot.  I can't wait to see if the chemistry they once had is back.

I've been watching videos from the Illusions tour lately and man they were good. I hadn't watched The Tokyo shows in at least 15 years and shit, they were simply awesome. Paris was also pretty fucking incredible. That band was larger than life.

I'm pretty sure now in 2016 the first few shows will feel a little bit tight, but the more the play, the more comfortable they will be playing and performing next to one another.  To me, more than the songs themselves (which I'm sure they will sound great live) it's the little things like Axl leaning against Slash on WTTJ or things like that what will be worth the price of the ticket, regardless how expensive they may be. If Axl and Slash embrace on stage I will seriously cry of happiness.

Very few outside rabid Axl Rose loyalists/supporters/apologists (pick your term) considered anything in the past 15 years to be Guns N' Roses.

This proposed line-up is going to be more recognizable as GNR, and an easier sell to the public as GNR due to the inclusion of...are you sitting down...PEOPLE THAT MADE GNR WHAT IT IS.

I ask again if you seriously didn't get that, which I do not believe.  And if this is all some trap laid so you can tell me about what your ticket stub said or what Axl said in some interview, save it.  You aren't going to change mine, or the general public's mind with that.  It hasn't worked in 15 god damn years.  Conversely, I am not about to get you to change your views on the matter.

Now, aren't we glad we rolled all this back out there on a day we got our best news in forever?  What a productive conversation.

I've been listening to live era all this morning.

In 2001 I was an Axl Rose supporter.
After 15 years, all of the struggles, with just one album that was pretty much butt-raped by the Label I don't think whether its a matter of Considering the Slashless incarnation of GNR as GNR.

I see NUGNR (I can't say New, cause now Its Old) as an egg.

Axl tried to lay a new GNR egg. It was conceived, in part with Love from Axl and the rest, in part with semen from the Rapist (The Label) ,  it was in the womb for far too long, and when it was finally hatched, we got what seemed like a abnormal twisted GNR baby bird due to the rapist's semen.


IF everything had gone peachy, and we had 5 albums released with success. Maybe more people would be calling NUGNR?. GNR.





 

In a way, your always the one who rolls it back out by continually making comments like "already the most legit band since 1993".

And the point being made is that we are already way ahead of the game with just Axl, Slash, and Duff.  And in a better spot than since 1993.

Izzy and Steven's inclusion might make it a bit more pure or ideal for some, but its not like we aren't still in real great shape after yesterday.

Jarmo is right about the main point; at the end of the day, it's just a rock band. For better or worse, regardless of who is in the band. Spend your money as you see fit, go see the shows, don't see the shows. Those who want to enjoy it, try your best to enjoy it - this band is as unpredictable as they come, you never know when is gonna be the last time you see any incarnation of the band.

You guys are a RIOT!  The guy with the web site and 35k posts tells the other guy with almost 7k posts "its just a rock band".  Lets be honest, if you post here, its not just a rock band.  Its part of who you are which gives everyone the right to feel however they want to.  That said, chicken was AFD URI era GNR, the egg was CD.  That is not up for dispute.  You simply can't have one without the other.  So if you are defending the wall for new guns, you gotta know that the roots are what made it possible.  I personally think the band was never better musically as they were around the time of RR3.  Super solid, aggressive, great stuff however i still think the chemistry that existed was one of a kind prior to that.  

I for one, don't and will never blame any member past or present for the changes that happen in this band.  Who are any of us to determine how these guys should feel.  As a rock fan, i'm just thrilled that they are open to working together again to see what it looks like today.  And as a GNR fan, i'm as excited as i ever have been about this band.  

I think this is a time to come together as a community of fans and pat ourselves on the back for sticking with it through thick and mostly thin over the past 20 years.  If you feel cheated because you don't like this particular lineup together than you are projecting the same negativity that you have ranted about for a decade or more.  Lets fuckin enjoy it, tomorrow is never promised!

Fair enough. I think it's healthy thought that most GNR fans always looked at the present/future as the best thing, and wanted to move on from past glories. Now of course, the past has become the present and (maybe) future, so god knows!

I forget the exact origin of it.  Wasn't long ago though.

We were talking about Axl's physical appearance, as I recall.  And from there things jumped to "you sure spend a lot of time thinking about other guy's looks" or some such.  That seems like the sort of thing one might hear in the recess yard.

And there have been more than a handful of times he's come back to it out of nowhere, like the crack about the shorts upthread.  So its never far off his mind when he talks to me.

This rollout has been awesome.  Coordinated, coherent, and exciting.  Its the best time to be a fan in some time.

I know a lot of people have been frustrated with TB, but I really don't think the issues people are complaining about are their fault. Sometimes people don't say anything because there isn't anything to say.

They've done a great job so far. I'm look forward to what's next.

I'm the farthest thing there is from an insider, but don't you think it's possible they were told to just keep quiet while everything was worked out? Again, I'm impatient too, but if there really isn't anything to report and they check in once a week to say "Be patient, news is coming", they are going to get roasted for that too.

Congrats Fernando and Team Brazil, Despite all the complaining i gotta say since 2010 that GN'R is a respected Rock Act regardless of who's part of the Lineup. That by itself is an amazing achievement, because every manager that walked in Before fucked over the fans and the band.

Bringing Slash and Duff and having Frank, Rich, Dizzy and Chris is a great move. I'm very happy about this and hopeful for what comes next.

I think the piece that you are overlooking is the introduction of a sober Duff back into Axl's life. When everything went down in the 90's Duff was loaded with booze and coke, Slash was strung out, and Axl's life was in shambles personally between Erin, Stephanie, and dealing with everyone practically killing themselves in his band.

Fast forward to 2010, London happens and the lines of communication are open between a healthy Duff and Axl. Duff can now start giving Axl a run down on where a healthy Slash is at personally then at some point Duff had to have put them in touch. I think Slash's divorce probably even played a part...

The Slash that Axl was bashing was an active heroine addict... even though I'm sure he's heard reports of his recovery... that level of distrust is had to fix, I think that is where Duff came in. Duff can personally say that he has more than a decade of time spent working off and on with Slash and can vouch for the fact that he has changed. At that point maybe Axl gives Slash a quick meeting and it turns into hours of reminiscing and talking what they both love... Themselves (just kidding)... Music.

What is the litmus test for how much someone can change?  Axl is a pragmatist.  The situation changed enough for him to feel like he could make it work, and he did.  He may have felt that way about slash at the time, and that's fine.  What matters is whats happening now.  CD isnt dead, its a great album that will stand as a testament to that period.   As far as this being it, what basis do you have to say that? Look at the never gonna happen reunions that have been successful for years?  VH? Goddamn AEROSMITH????

The arm chair QBing on that front has been, and will continue to be, a source of endless amusement for me.  I'm sure those much closer involved don't find it nearly as funny, but...well....Fernando does seem to have a pretty wicked sense of humor, so...maybe....

I applaud Axl for finally growing up and getting past it.  I will never understand how we are supposed to see that as a bad thing.

Gotta feel for the guy. Nobody has wanted this longer than he... But it's his own doing.

Side note: video of him playing sounds good and feels right. I don't think he still has that swing everyone talks about. Sounds like a drummer who can play a song. Nothing too extraordinary in my opinion.

OK, here's what bugs me about this....and it's actually NOT the rumor.

Ultimate guitar (and a couple other places) basically cut up an Eddie Trunk blog post, using it to source the rumor, and inserted some questions to make it look like UG interviewed Trunk.

Which isn't, remotely, what happened, here.

Sorry, I just find stuff like this annoying.  How about just cp-ing trunk's post, linking back to his site, and giving the guy all the credit for the rumor.

If I knew for a fact that it was just going to be Coachella... I'd do what I had to do to get out there...

But I'm sure the reports of the big tour to follow are true... most of the other stuff has come to fruition so far... and I'm sure NYC/Boston would be one of the big stops.

It would be awesome as hell to see all 5 play all AFD and a few EP songs. That would be fucking epic!!

I couldn't do west coast, either way.  Too far, too hard to get out there, and too hard to be away from work (esp this year) for that long.  I thought about it for about half a second til I got about 1/3 of the way through the expense tally ($$ and time) and realized it just wasn't in the cards.

But if they are anywhere within 300 miles of my front door...it's on like Donkey Kong.

I would not bat an eye at his exclusion.  I would understand and agree.

But I'm not so dug in that if the other guys were open to it, I'd still be against it.  They are the ones that have to deal with his bullshit, not us.

Im all over NYC ish area, and Met Life seems to be a sure bet!. Coachella works for me having family out there nearby already makes it just a better vacation with family and friends out there. But will only do one show out there, and save the other 400$ for later shows on their own.

I will definitely drive a few hours to add some shows... Philli.. Boston.. and my casual GNR fan friends will all be down for these.

As long as remembering old quotes and stuff, we can go on and on about things said by every band member (or employee, if u will), but that doesn't change the fact that this is actually happening right now.

I still remember Axl saying in 91 that he couldn't see himself trying to duplicate what GNR was... In 94 he said the next album would take a shorter direction (compared to "Illusions")... and then BOOM! Everything changed overnight.

Other bands have made the exact same thing and no one receives such negativity.

I just selectively quoted one line I agreed with, because I know how upset you can get if I point out how you're often adding negativity in many of your posts.

I will say, that was a trademark Costanza move, last line was positive, so you left on a high note.

I am actually holding off on Coachella.  In the history of the band since the release of the Illusions there have been multiple instances of a big show/tour announced that a few weeks later announced 'warm up' shows that preceded them.  Think the UYI tour (club tour), Rock in Rio 3 (Vegas), 2006 European tour (Hammerstein shows).  I just feel like GNR would not make their big comeback at a festival show with a shortened set list, but I could of course be very wrong.  

Yeah...life's hard.

On Adler, I still say if he's involved, it's for 2-3 songs tops if they can work out some kind of ironclad deal.  Let's say he was the drummer, it'd just be an hour show...Because that's all he can play. There's 3.5 other albums worth of songs to consider. He couldn't handle it, and you can bet the the three of them know it.

Axl once said that with someone as desperate as Steven, even doing just a few songs could result in years of legal aftermath.  There's also that to consider.

So color me Team Frank.

It's been obvious to some of us for a while now. Don't worry. No need to spell out how hard your life is. :)

I bet there are warmups too but most likely in the LA area (I live in NYC) so the first "big" show I want to be there, also it doesn't hurt that's its going to be a great weekend with a group of 10 friends just partying and getting some California sun! So I say Fuck it i'll go!

Now if GNR sneaks into NYC for a warm up show well then.......

Thanks!  I saw the initial blog post, actually...that's how I recognized what UG had done.  I just find that kind of "reporting" to be icky.  They're trying to make it look like they somehow extracted the info from Trunk, when, really, they didn't do anything other than visit his blog page.

Yeah I live in NYC also (Lower East Side represent!).  I am definitely in for a NYC or LA 'warm up' show or whatever you want to call it.  I will be flying, driving or walking to wherever that show is.  I am thrilled that GNR is reuniting for Coachella, but being that I am 34 now the idea of baking in the California sun all day only to see GNR play to 200K people (80% of which are only casual/non-fans) is just not appealing to me.  

Listen, ya young whippersnapper....when I was younger, we were GREATFUL to stand outside in the sun, waiting to see our favorite bands.  It was free Vitamin D, for cripes sake. 

Hell, when I first saw Guns n Roses, at the Orange County Fairgrounds in Middleton, New York...we had to wait 18 hours, in the scorching sun. It was 103 degrees, the entire time...and we were standing on a HILL.  We had to drink our own PEE to stay hydrated.  And that was just to see GnR OPEN for Aerosmith.  Crimeny's sake, I just don't understand the youth of today.  *SHAKES FIST* NOW GET OFF MY DAMN LAWN!!

Seriously, though, same boat.  Give me a stadium show....even if it's GA on the field...where there's reasonable bathrooms, food options, beer sales and the like.  I'll pay whatever they want.  And if it includes a padded seat to use during the opening acts, all the better!

There's so much happening with Guns N' Roses its hard to keep up with all the rumours and teasers. I would love to hear some straight talking from Axl, Slash or Duff to hear what they've got in mind for their performance at Coachella and a possible tour. Hey, this news is all very exciting. It's something we never thought we'd see.

But you know what I hope for more than anything as a fan? I hope that there is a catharsis for the old band on a personal level. Harboring feelings of resentment or hate is unhealthy. I say this without any understanding as to what happened when these guys parted ways, but I hope this means there has been forgiveness and that it's a good thing for their emotional well being.

I hope this reunion is an outward sign of some inward happiness for these guys I've idolized since I was a teenager. They've provided me a lot of joy through the years, and I think they deserve some as well.

I found buying a hotel package 8.6 miles from the venue did the trick... One man going two tickets flying! Over time here I come ...

I don't really get how some people (few though they be) can be upset that someone they respect has managed to get over a grudge with someone he used to be close with. 

As has been said, when the classic band imploded it was in a situation where Duff was an alcoholic (burst pancreas, anyone?), Slash was a drug addict and Axl's mental health was in a poor state (with bipolar disorder).  Matt had problems with drink and drugs.  Steven was sacked from Guns N' Roses (from Guns N' Roses!) because he took too many drugs and could not get his shit together.  How fucked up do you have to be for Guns N' Roses to decide it's too much to deal with?  I read an interview with Izzy some years back - he said that when he filled in for Gilby during the UYI tour, he didn't even bother to say goodbye when he left, because the others were so whacked out on drink, drugs, medication and paranoia that they hardly knew he was there at all.  And this was going on for years.  For all the fame and money, that sounds like a pretty fucking unbearable situation to be in.  All the stories of wild, youthful rock n' roll excess may look fun from the outside, but you can bet it all gets pretty loathsome. 

Have any of you had anyone in your life, someone you care about - a friend, a brother, a partner, whoever - who had some kind of addiction, or some kind of serious mental health condition?  If you haven't, take it from me, it can be pretty hellish.  However much you love them, it is fucking exhausting.  They say and do terrible things, often barely in control of themselves, often hating themselves for doing it.  It can be hard not to hate them back. 

So you need to bear that in mind when pulling up quotations from band members from however many years ago.  You should never speculate about other people's mental health, but the fact is that we simply don't know what kind of place any of these guys were in when they said some of the things that have been said.  Add to all that the lawsuits, the need to prove that they could make it without the other guy (Lennon and McCartney had a similar thing in the 1970s)... it all gets out of hand.  And we should be glad, shouldn't we, that they've gotten past that?  Why should we prefer that people who used to be such close, close friends should live in bitterness and estrangement for the rest of their lives?  Why should the mistakes, regrets and bad choices of men in their twenties rule those men decades later?  Should we not rather be glad that now, older, wiser, sober, healthier and against all odds all still alive, they can get together and rock again?  That they (and we) can relive, in part, the good ol' days, but without all the bullshit that turned it sour?

And even if this is a cash grab, even if they aren't really bosom buddies and are doing this as a cynical top-up to their rock-star pension funds, so what?  It's their music, they've earned the right to make a buck from it, haven't they?

Los Angeles (AFP) - Tickets quickly sold out Wednesday for the Coachella music festival where hard rockers Guns N' Roses will reunite after more than two decades.

Passes for the three-day festival in the southern California desert went on sale online at 11 am (1900 GMT) and one hour later Coachella social media accounts said that all tickets were gone.

Coachella, which has become one of the world's best-known festivals, draws more than 180,000 people a year over two consecutive three-day weekends with identical lineups.

Guns N' Roses, whose 1987 album "Appetite for Destruction" remains the top-selling US debut ever, are scheduled as headliners on the two Saturdays -- April 16 and April 23.

The festival will mark the first time that singer Axl Rose and guitarist Slash play together since 1993 when they ended a tour in Argentina amid personality disputes.

Other prominent acts at Coachella this year will include LCD Soundsystem, the influential New York electronic band from the 2000s that is also reuniting, as well as pioneering gangsta rapper Ice Cube and singers Ellie Goulding and Sia.

In fairness, I am old as dirt, so I am not current with this stuff.  I'm just curious what the crowd predominantly is.  Lollapalooza was mainly an indie rock crowd, at least in the beginning, but what is Coachella?  This young generation scares and confuses me.

It would be a no brainer for me from a GNR stand point just would be a question of coachella allowing it and how you split the money made from it but no doubt i think it would make lots of money. I would pay what they were charging for the pacqiou vs mayweather fight for this event and i know id get my moneys worth lol unlike the fight did.

Coachella doesn't sell day passes.  Full weekend, only.

So you can buy passes for Weekend 1 and/or weekend 2, but not any single day.

Millenials, primarily. 18 to 30 year olds (heavy on the 18 to 25 groups).  And a TON of celebrities.  Generally they are an appreciative and friendly audience from what I've seen.  They're a happy (sometimes chemically :)  ) crowd, for sure.

It has sort of a "woodstock" vibe, but with a much more commercial presence.  It's kind of hard to explain. 

It's a very different vibe than, say, Reading, Leads, or Rock in Rio, though, which seem a little more "hardcore".

To all the folks asking about streaming/ppv:

Last year, Weekend 1 (at least) was apparently streamed, in it's entirety, sponsored by Tmobile, on Coachellas youtube channel.  You didn't have to pay anything.  I didn't watch, live, but the quality of the stuff they have up on the channel right now, which are supposedly taken from the broadcast, is pretty good.

We'll see what the plans are this year...hopefully similar.

Rock In Rio usually have genre specific days.
You're probably not gonna see Rihanna and GN'R on the same day for example.

Yes, Coachella does seem to be more like some European festivals. But, Governors Ball had a similar mix when GN'R headlined.

Yeah, the musical mix is very eclectic....always is.  And I agree....other festivals do more "genre days".

I was more trying to get across the vibe and general demographics of the crowd.  I mean, you'll see all ages.  But you're going to see a LOT more millenials than, say...the 30 to 40 crowd. 

all I can say is when GNR headlined Gov ball in 2013 TONS of people were pissed and didn't want to see them. but I was there and it was amazing how Axl ended up basically taking over and everyone there rushed to the mainstage. it was quite a night and tons of fun to see them win over a few new fans.

I expect Coachella to be the same but this times its Axl, Slash and Duff now that is COOL

Honestly, I don't think they'll face that kind of hostility from the crowd.  That crowd are, typically, a very happy bunch looking for a reason to party, not a reason to boo the acts on stage. And the "reunited" version is going to play very well for the crowd, IMHO.

Yeah. That's true for many festivals though. You go camping with your friends and see a bunch of bands.
Then you got festivals who've realized that there's a big market in people who don't wanna sleep in a tent...  :hihi:





That's basically because they've been fed the same old stories for decades and that's all they know.
Then once they saw the band with their own eyes, it wasn't what they had been told.... It was fun!

Sometimes people ask "why would they play there?". Meaning, a festival with a totally different crowd than your usual GN'R concert.
Well, that's probably one of the reasons. Which is what festivals are pretty cool for. Lots of people get to see lots of artists they wouldn't see otherwise. Hell, some might even discover new artists they might become fans of....

It's like watching a TV series and hearing a song you like, but never heard before. So you go on iTunes and get it after...  8)

Coachella is very much the "IT" festival these days it seems as well...It gets a lot of media attention... I'm sure the big three are being paid VERY handsomely for it....


I think it's perfect... great start to this whole... whatever you want to call it reunion..regrouping..whatever.

Hopefully they just kill it those two nights... and it will just be the start of an epic run.

This is another reason why I would like to see them go out of the box with their opening acts if the Stadium Tour happens.

I just hope they rehearse, and I mean honest to god rehearse.  The Stones do warm up shows in Toronto before their tours, but before they even do that, they all get together and play in some warehouse or somewhere to decide which songs work, which don't, and in some cases...what songs they need to get reaquanited with.

That's how we got 'Memory Motel' on the 'Bridges To Babylon' tour.  A song they had never done live.

Exactly, it is certainly not a given that a fan other either of those bands was also a fan of the other. It helps open up both bands to more and more fans. That's why I would shy aware from something like Skid Row if that reunion happened, while I would love to see them, and I really like Sebastian,  I just think getting introduced to something that I'm not normally exposed to (Like even Mix Master Mike in 2002) is interesting.

I wonder if we'll hear classic Guns playing Chinese Democracy songs? Or if we'll hear Axl singing some Velvet Revolver tunes?

It would be a cool thing to hear those songs played by those guys. Slash has a certain style of playing that suits Axl's voice. To hear Axl sing those VR tuned or Slash to play some Chin Dem would be awesome. I'm just hoping to hear some Illusions tunes that weren't really played before like Dont Damn Me or Breakdown

Howard Stern talked about the GNR Coachella news the other day. He wants to interview, who doesn't these days. I think it'd be a great interview though someday, if they choose to go that route. Howard offers his guests hour long plus interviews with no commercials to speak their minds. I'd love to hear it.  :peace:

I totally forgot he worked with Ron... There is a Premier Guitar video where Ron covers his rig in a similar fashion and he meting McBob... I can here Ron saying it in that thick New York accent...

My favorite band on my favorite show. Been waiting to hear it for years. Hope we get it! But, the big hurdle has been cleared. That's the most important part.
