Title: What would you be more interested in?
Post by: CherryGarcia on September 04, 2015, 06:39:02 PM
If you had to pick between:

Songs from the CD sessions

or

Songs from the '93-'96 sessions with Axl's vocals and lyrics on them

What would you pick and why?

CD session songs because they supposedly are comp, tee where as 93-96 sessions we don't have an idea of the how far along the compositions are..

I' d pick 1995 songs with slash's bluesy guitar sound.

Only song Adler played on the UYI's is Civil War, and that was compromised and pieced together of many edited takes.

I honestly don't get thread topics like this, but I suppose it beats those on hairlines and other similar idiocy- Just my 2 cents.

Steven played on many UYI tracks in both demos and rehearsals.

UYI songs that have Steve on them in demo or rehearsal form:
The Garden
Garden of Eden
Locomotive
Don't Damn Me
Dust N' Bones
Back Off Bitch
Civil War
Don't Cry
Perfect Crime (played by Steven live circa 1986)

I'm quite aware of what he played on, I was speaking of the actual album tracks of UYI's, check those credits.

I think anything that hasn't been released or leaked would be an interesting listen, no matter what era and who the players are.

I sincerely hope there are no more leaks.

I meant anything that hasn't been heard period.

CD era songs hands down. Everything that has been talked about publicly by all accounts are fantastic songs. At one point there was something like 70?! different songs from that time period. Would love to hear them all someday.

The last material that Axl tweeked to perfection. That has to be the best stuff if that is his focus.
Altho it could also include stuff pre-CD.
Didn't Fortus mention some of it was a progression from when Slash was around?

Excuse my poor reference "Guitarist Richard Fortus is the latest rocker to talk about the tunes publicly, saying that some of the stuff dates back to the Slash era." 12/04

Yeah - I would presume some of the CD sessions would contain elements of 93-96.

I would rather see the more interesting ideas from 93-96 taken forward with Axl's vision, grouped together with newer tracks than to settle with the 93-96 demos.

Interesting you'd think that before Fortus's comment. Were you expecting same on CD?

I recall you said you have been on forums since around 2006. Did you stop posting or are you now using 2 screenames? I know one screenname is primarily to talk about a certain member (http://www.flayme.com/stalker/#What). I really hope you start focusing 100% on the band and not info gathering on that one member. If not, would you agree to a public flogging?

Its a no brainer for me, I am so on board, with CD era material, and whatever there is that compromises any and all of it ,before I even consider an alternative.

Agreed.

I've read the forums since 00-01.

Yes, I expected CD to have snippets of ideas from the 93-96 sessions.  Always wondered when The Blues into was first conceived.
