Title: Tower Records documentary Post by: Spirit on March 18, 2015, 03:09:22 PM A documentary about Tower Records called "All Things Must Pass - The Rise And Fall Of Tower Records" is gonna premiere soon. Axl is a former employee of Tower Video (part of the same chain), maybe the one with the most subsequent success in the music business? I'm not sure about other artists who've worked there.
Anyways, there's gonna be interviews with both former employees and artists. Axl is both, could be interesting if he is included in the movie. Here's an article about the movie (Axl is mentioned): http://www.lamag.com/citythinkblog/legendary-past-celluloid-future-tower-records-sunset-strip/ The premiere will take place at SXSW. Title: Re: Tower Records documentary Post by: Spirit on March 20, 2015, 04:43:45 PM After reading the reviews of the doc, it doesn't seem like Axl has any part in this. Elton John, Dave Grohl and Bruce Springsteen are featured though.
Still gonna see this one. Title: Re: Tower Records documentary Post by: Bodhi on March 21, 2015, 11:15:02 PM Wow! How did they manage to get Dave Grohl to be a part of this??? Someone must have really pulled some strings to land that interview.
My sarcasm is about an 11 on a scale of 1-10 with that one. I don't think Grohl has ever seen a camera he didn't like. I am looking forward to the doc though. I used to go to tower records here in jersey several times a week. Back in my day that was also one of the best places to get concert tickets when they went on sale. Title: Re: Tower Records documentary Post by: oldfan on March 22, 2015, 02:33:12 AM good reads, thanks
In Toronto we had Sam the Record man, which was kinda like tower records. Title: Re: Tower Records documentary Post by: EmilyGNR on March 23, 2015, 12:23:55 AM Wow! I caught the sarcasm about Grohl, and I agree :) I've spent many an enjoyable afternoon/evening in Tower Records when I lived in LA in my 20's, was very upset when they went out of business. March 15 at 10:30am Colin Hanks: No LA 80s rockers, but Bruce Springsteen, Dave Grohl, and Elton John are in the film. Said Axl gets a quarter second mention, in the vein of "Such famous people as blah, blah, blah, Axl Rose, blah, and blah worked there". Title: Re: Tower Records documentary Post by: jarmo on March 24, 2015, 12:26:53 PM Here's another movie, although old, with some GN'R in it. And yes, Dave Grohl!
