Title: GN'R tour design concepts Post by: Spirit on February 26, 2015, 05:13:36 PM I came across the site of the design company doing the GN'R 2006-07 tour, and they have samples of the designs used on that tour. I gotta say that this particular tour (06-07) is one of my favorites, especially because the design concept has been followed through in both the merch and the stage design.
What is your favorite GN'R tour, design-wise? Here are some samples: (http://payload275.cargocollective.com/1/8/261217/7800316/GNR8_2x.jpg) (http://payload275.cargocollective.com/1/8/261217/7800316/GNR1_2x.jpg) (http://payload275.cargocollective.com/1/8/261217/7800316/GNR3_2x.jpg) (http://payload275.cargocollective.com/1/8/261217/7800316/GNR10_2x.jpg) (http://payload275.cargocollective.com/1/8/261217/7800316/GNR7_2x.jpg) (http://i.ytimg.com/vi/-oF7sBktUsM/hqdefault.jpg) (http://nme.assets.ipccdn.co.uk/images/gallery/2006GunsNRosesDownloadPW080711.jpg) (http://bilder.vgb.no/6967/4col/img_44a403fb0f3de.jpg) http://cargocollective.com/andreagustafson/CHINESE-DEMOCRACY-GUN-N-ROSES Title: Re: GN'R tour design concepts Post by: D-GenerationX on February 26, 2015, 05:43:54 PM (http://payload275.cargocollective.com/1/8/261217/7800316/GNR8_2x.jpg) This one. Title: Re: GN'R tour design concepts Post by: ice cream sand pig on February 26, 2015, 07:06:21 PM ^^ Brilliant design wise. Almost looks like a stamp or a piece of currency.
I see influences ranging from Japanese tidal waves to the american flag. The red is not too hot so it allows the white to stand out a little, almost like the green and white of american money. As someone that studies Eastern Asian symbols (kanji and it's Chinese predecessor), I must say that I am impressed with the GNR letters in the bottom right corner in terms of mimicking that traditional Eastern style. They are actually pretty elaborate. The R has part of the portion for the Japanese character for rain it it (the bottom half of it). The N almost looks like the kanji for tsume (claws). The G almost reminds me of the kanji for horse or bird. Title: Re: GN'R tour design concepts Post by: draguns on February 26, 2015, 07:37:21 PM Really cool design!

You have more designs from 2002 or another years? thanks!! Title: Re: GN'R tour design concepts Post by: rebelhipi on February 27, 2015, 05:55:15 AM I remember when i saw guns in 2006 the first thing i saw was the amazing stage-set, it looked even better with houselights on than it looked during the show. ive never been a fan of the 2002-2014 drums and keys are upstairs look. ( in the smaller shows like vegas it looks allright when the dums are not that high. and theres some leveling between drums and keys)
But my fav tour design is Use your illusion big stage look all the way. Ala Paris 1992. with the huge illusion tissues and all the ramps and stuff, axls piano on the left, backup singers, horn players. : ok: Title: Re: GN'R tour design concepts Post by: Nytunz on February 27, 2015, 06:18:10 PM I remember when i saw guns in 2006 the first thing i saw was the amazing stage-set, it looked even better with houselights on than it looked during the show. ive never been a fan of the 2002-2014 drums and keys are upstairs look. I like the classic way GNR are written with "tall" letters.. From the new era i think the design from 2010 and 2011 was cool.. That one on a black tshirt back, with the logo on the front breast. Obviously the art is created by professional companies, but I do wonder how much of a hand Axl has in the look of the design.
