Musical Collective Hits Havana For A Week Visiting The Country As Guests Of The Cuban Ministry Of Culture, Institute Of Music & Cuban Rock Agency (https://photos.prnewswire.com/prnvar/20150210/174653LOGO) NEW YORK, Feb. 10, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Dynamic musical collective The Dead Daisies head to Cuba as guests of the Cuban Ministry of Culture, Institute of Music and the Cuban Rock Agency. The rock band will be in Havana from February 22 to March 1 as part of a cultural exchange. While in Cuba they will be performing shows as well as recording tracks for their upcoming album and jamming with Cuban musicians Yasek Manzano, Carlos Miyares, Michel Herrera, Alejandro Martinez, Harold Lopez and Yaimi Karel. The group will also visit schools and conduct workshops with students and local musicians. The trip will conclude with the Cuba Rocks for Peace concert at the legendary Salon Rosado de la Tropical on Saturday, February 28. The Salon Rosado de la Tropical is one of the most important venues in Cuba and is considered a cathedral for Cuban popular music. Joining The Daisies on the 28th will be Cuban artists, David Blanco y su grupo and Anima Mundi. The trip is the first for a rock band since Obama loosened travel and trade rules for the country. The band for this excursion includes Richard Fortus (Guns N' Roses), Marco Mendoza (Thin Lizzy), Dizzy Reed (Guns N' Roses), David Lowy (Mink) and Brian Tichy (Ozzy Osbourne). Also along for the ride are friends Darryl Jones (The Rolling Stones), John Corabi (Motley Crue) and Bernard Fowler (The Rolling Stones). Guitarist Richard Fortus says, "As an American, playing in Cuba is an incredible opportunity. To work and learn from Cuban musicians, and to experience their unique musical character is a dream of mine. I know this will be one of my greatest experiences yet!" "I'm really looking forward to a first visit and experience in Cuba," says Mendoza. "It's always been on my list of places to visit, being a fan of Afro-Cuban history and artists and the fact that I speak the language is also going to help. It will be a fantastic time with The Dead Daisies, it's sure to be something very special and memorable; A Rock'n Roll Buena Vista Social Club! VIVALAROCK!!" Following their diplomatic summit of rock, the band will join KISS in June for European dates. http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/the-dead-daisies-head-to-cuba-as-part-of-cultural-exchange-300033771.html Title: Re: The Dead Daisies Head To Cuba as Part of Cultural Exchange Post by: HBK on March 03, 2015, 11:39:41 AM Excelent Concert, Pics:

Don't we have to go one way or the other? A band featuring two GN'R members, versus a band featuring a person who wants to focus on his solo career without making a clear statement on his status in GN'R, and a singer who distanced himself from this band before the first single was out.... It's fine, people are free to do what they feel is best for them. :) /jarmo Title: Re: The Dead Daisies (Dizzy & Richard) Post by: Ja5oN on April 17, 2015, 03:46:53 PM Jarmo, what is the piece of evidence, that best displays this "distancing" you talk about. Title: Re: The Dead Daisies (Dizzy & Richard) Post by: FunkyMonkey on May 07, 2015, 01:37:55 AM Are you looking at this project as a one-off ? record the album, do the tour and then that?s it, or are you hoping this might extend out and be a bit more of a band for a bit longer?
John Corabi: ?Well, at this point it?s been an incredibly enjoyable experience for me,? he says guardedly, ?but again I?m the new guy walking into something that was already rolling so I don?t know how this is going to play out, [just] as I didn?t know how it was going to play out with Motley. Right now, my main focus is on writing the best songs that we can, recording them, giving them the best vocal performance, and then just going out and kicking ass on the road. If they want me to come back and do another record, I?ll be more than happy to because this has been fun. Everybody that?s involved in this thing, they?re all great players and just genuinely nice people. You know what I mean? So I?m having a blast. If they want me to come back, I will. You know what I mean?? Corabi says the album will definitely be out by the time the tours get underway ?I can?t be sure but I think I overheard the manager, David Edwards, I thought he said that they were shooting for an early June release, kind of in sync with when we split to go [to Europe]. We?re doing Europe with Kiss and we?re doing quite a few huge festivals, Download and some festivals in Austria, Germany, just all over Europe. I think they wanted to have the record out around that time.? It certainly makes sense to have the album available for the tour! Im still a bit confused, apparently none of the gnr guys play on the first album but 4tus and Dizzy plays on the ep and new album? and Frank plays on nothing? Singer isint the same? Do they only release music on Itunes? Does Darryl Jones play on any release? How about Bernard Fowler? Anyways i could check the daisies out again. They describe themselves a musical collective created by a rotating line-up. The constant seems to be David Lowy who I think founded the band with original singer Jon Stevens. John Corabi has taken over vocal duties since the bands trip to Cuba earlier this year. I think this was initially because Stevens was charged with assault (which has since been dropped)..But I could be wrong. I don't think Darryl Jones or Bernard Fowler play on the albums.
