This is why if there is another residency, I will be going to at least 2-3 shows. It's so much fun and now they're throwing in some surprises!

I am blown away by the fact that Guns paid tribute to Doc Neeson of The Angels. If anyone can remember, Doc Neeson's Angels were announced as the support for GN'R in Australia last year but had to pull out due to Doc becoming ill.

It was a very sad day yesterday, and for Axl and the boys to pay tribute to the Aus Music Legend by playing Marseilles is just beautiful.

Very cool! I hope they play both Prostitute and Yesterdays this weekend too! I really think this residency has taken it up a notch over the last one. I can see GNR doing them somewhat regularly too given how successful they are and fun for everyone involved.

Look at the reaction to both the night they did YCBM as the opener, and then 'Yesterdays' and 'Prostitute' last night.

This could be the reaction to any night they mix it up a bit.  Hope they take note.

Prostitute was fucking awesome....it is obviously a personal song so maybe he avoids playing it because it means too much to him. Anyhow, he nailed it. I also notice how much Tommy gets in to the Chinese songs more than the old stuff. He is great either way but he obviously loves to play songs he was a part of creating.  :peace:

Seems like the jam they did inspired the full song to get played?  Didn't Bumble do the same thing with "Don't Cry" back in the day?  If I remember correctly, he started playing it during his solo and got the crowd to sing along, eventually Axl would come out and sing the rest.  Very cool!

Axl's fans are loyal, and if he puts on a good show, mixes it up and sounds good...it will be acknowledged by all

I know people don't like to hear this, but when they play the same show over and over with no record in sight, it comes off as hes just going thru the motions, variety in the setlist goes a long way

And even the slightest tweak gets good reactions from everybody.  Its the way to go.

Great set by GNR but what, the hell, was Blakhat? Lit from the back, singer kept his face completely concealed the entire show. The jams, not the songs, were good but their mix was awful!

Not at the show, but based on the video, I thought Axl sounded pretty good during Yesterdays. How cool is that? Love that song.

IMO, or at least to my ear he struggled with it at the beginning but really picked it up nicely. Personally, I prefer when he drops his voice and goes with the gravel. Others can confirm or deny but I would guess he doesn't do this these days mostly to help preserve his voice. I could be wrong there, obviously. Either way, super cool for those folks in attendance.

I love "Yesterdays" but find "Prostitute" dead boring (musically, not lyrically). "Prostitute" is actually my least favourite song on CD together with "If The World".

But still, apart from that ...... the band did a great setlist and it's awesome that they put in a surprise once and a while.  : ok:

And you can't help but notice the overwhelming positive reaction across ALL the forums to the setlist variety.

There's really no reason this can't be how things are all the time.  Ultimately, fans want to see this succeed.  Its no fun having nothing to be excited about.

Is there a some kind of rule that everytime someone in the band catches you taking a picture they give you the finger? ;D

Actually it was my idea. I brought it up to Ron in an impromptu late night chat about 3 years ago. I asked him if he was going to sample another GNR classic as part of his solo and I suggested "Yesterdays". So you're welcome. It took a little while but it finally came to light.  8)

And let's not forgot that little part of "Estranged" Ron added to his Pink Panther solo, which ultimately made that song a staple in the setlist as well.

Axl sounded great on the clips I've seen.

Yesterdays got the performance it deserved by all concerned top notch stuff.
