Good interview....although short.  Would be nice to hear more.

and the 1st residency Blu-Ray... he made it pretty clear that at oen point there was a possibility of not coming out at all...and now nothing is sure...so everyone stick to your bootlegs cause this is all we'll have seems like.

His response about the Blu-Ray didn't surprise me....its filmed and ready to go, something stalled it (legally I would imagine).  Its beyond his control.

Such a tease....

I would freak if they really launched those songs.
For me that would be icing on cake.

Guns N' Roses - DJ ASHBA Interview (April 25th)

What do you think is the future for Guns N' Roses? Is it just a touring entity that comes out every summer and does a few shows?

DJ Ashba: I think, no, I don't think that at all. I joined this band - I'm a songwriter, I'm a producer. I feel, as a songwriter producer I can bring something to the table, if I didn't, I wouldn't be in the band. I've turned down more gigs out there than I've taken. This is something where I feel very passionate about the music and passionate about the band. And I feel I personally can help bring something to the table.  You know I think our main goal is to write the next best Guns N' Roses record. That's what I'm excited about.

Have you started on that process at all?

DJ Ashba: We have tons of material. Ya' know. Before I even joined the band there was three albums worth recorded. There are tons of songs already recorded that Axl has been playing me. You know I'm a writer, everyone in the band writes songs so everybody in the band has their own piles of songs too. Lack of material isn't our problem. It's taking all the material that we have, ya' know, and making sense of it. Focusing it into what we feel would be just a kick ass album. Ya' know.

I think that's what fans obviously like myself want to hear.

DJ Ashba: Yeah, absolutely.

Axl Rose just doesn't seem keen on the new material.
How often do they play Prostitute, If The World, Riad, Scraped, Silkworms, Going Down or Checkmate?
Hell, how often do they play There Was a Time?

We've known forever that they have three albums worth of stuff recorded.  It's motivating Axl to do what needs to be done to through what's left and create a track list consisting of the best 12-14 songs that's the tricky part.  I mean, how does one even approach that conversation?  Motivating Axl to do something like this seems pretty difficult.

All of these very public kicks in the ass is just what's needed.  Long past time.

How is Ron not going on record on this?  We need a full fledged intervention at this point.

To me it is curious why there seems to be difficulty focusing on winnowing down "3 albums" worth of music into one kick ass record. Surely not every song is album worthy. Is it a lack of time, a lack of focus, a lack of desire, difficulty with the record company, one wonders what exactly is the problem?

DJ has been in the band for what -- 5 years now.  If he really feels "I feel, as a songwriter producer I can bring something to the table, if I didn't, I wouldn't be in the band."

How long will he wait?

SIXX: A.M. is releasing a new album at the end of the year. Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins will guest on the album.  Nikki Sixx says that SIXX: A.M will become his 'main project' after MOTLEY CRUE is done touring.

Is this really a new interview?   I thought I heard him say these things a few years ago.

That interviewer had a disrespectful tone.   Also he should do five minutes of homework and realize that GNR has a backlog of albums already recorded.  This is well known publicly. Also, it's not summer yet.  It's spring.  So that whole summer touring band billshit wasn't necessary either.

Maybe he is just pissed of because the band didn't released any new material since he joined jn 2009.

I'm curious if DJ will go back to Sixx Am as a full time member when they are a permanent band and not a side project.

I think he'll still do both. I don't think he'd leave guns for anything, and he's really good friends with Nikki so I can't see him leaving Sixx am, and I can't see Nikki kicking one of his best friends out of his band.
