Title: Best of the Best GNR Proshot full concerts in existance....
Post by: Ja5oN on April 19, 2014, 05:10:14 PM
I'm new on here, so take it easy on me.
I have been reading through the boards about various full length concerts that exists (or may HOB 01) and was struck by my lack of knowledge.  A few years back I had bought a bunch of bootlegs off some website and recieved a bunch of blank dvds, some of very questionable quality.  I am finding it terribly difficult to determine what is real and available.

I have watched the crap out of the official GNR DVDs (converted them into mixed tapes from VHS before the Live release came out and everything).  Tapes & VHS ....yes I'm 39.

Lately I have been watching the O2 Arena London 2012 show and the Rock AM Ring Germany 2006.

I was wondering what else is at the top of the list for avaiable shows out there?

It would be nice if this could be a  freindly discussion  about what are the top 5 concerts avaiable and I hope it doesn't turn into a hunt for Nessy or a Collection versus Hoarding bashing (sorry in advance Jarmo if it goes the inevitable way)...LOL

Thanks for all the suggestions!

I started watching the more recent stuff.

I watched a version of 2006-09-23 KROQ Inland Invasion, but the sound and audio were off synch.  Is there a version where the sync is correct?  I find it terribly distracting.

I also watched the LA 2011, but the drums and backing vocal seam really loud.  (I am sure evertyhing at the concert was fine....i;m not complaining about that)

I know with some of these, people are compressign or converting and things get a little messed so its hard to tell if the version I have is the same as you...

Hahahahaha uhhhh, I hate to correct you after 22 years, but its Pay-Per-View.  Unless if you were talking about reading a review of the show in the newspaper the next day.

I put Ritz 1988 as my top GNR proshot.  Amazing how that really captures the AFD band real well.

I also remember seeing the Paris 92 Pay-per-view around the same time as the premiere of November Rain on MTV.

The first of two shows New Years weekend.

Re; November Rain video - could have been different countries world premieres as well. Just a thought of mine. Okay, back to lurking I go.

Re: November Rain's Release: This is taken from an MTV.com article posted on June 15, 2009:

Posted 06/15/2009 12:30:51 pm by Kyle Anderson

MTV celebrates an important moment in its history this week: 17 years ago, Guns N? Roses? ?November Rain? premiered on ?Headbangers Ball.? Since the video dropped in 1992, plenty has changed: Axl Rose has hired and fired dozens of bandmembers (finally releasing the long-awaiting Chinese Democracy last year) and Slash has gone from solo artist to Velvet Revolver axeman. One thing hasn?t changed, though: ?November Rain? is still as inexplicable as it was when it first aired on MTV. If you haven?t seen it, take the time to enjoy all 9 minutes of Axl?s magnum opus, and then check out all the things you might have missed about it.
