Title: Biggest thing you did for GN'R? Post by: DarkFairy on March 29, 2014, 10:19:14 AM Personally I made a $2000 phone bill for my parents, later tricked the boss of the jail to let me go see the 2006 show, used up all my jail calling time, marked the leave as: seeing a show with my mom, which we did lol

First time I had ever left the country, with the exception of Canada which is not far from my Seattle based home.... Have never stopped thinking about that experience still today!!
Title: Re: Biggest thing you did for GN'R? Post by: AXL DEMOCRACY on March 29, 2014, 01:41:17 PM I once walked out of an audition (a call back for a commercial actually) cause one of the producers started talking shit about Axl when he saw my Illusion tattoo. I had a good shot of scoring that gig too but I wasn't about to stand there letting this bougie fatback talk a bunch of crap.
Title: Re: Biggest thing you did for GN'R? Post by: Siamese Democracy on March 29, 2014, 02:15:06 PM I flew across the country to see Axl perform in 2001 despite people telling me it was a risk he wouldn't show up. They were wrong!
Title: Re: Biggest thing you did for GN'R? Post by: westcoast_junkie on March 29, 2014, 02:36:57 PM Guess it'll have to be that we named our son William Axl. Axl must be honoured (not knowing) having such a beautiful boy named after him :-)

I was 3rd or 4th row and right next to the center walkway.Axl's glasses landed 2 meters away from me after Brownstone but that m/f security guard kept them. The Darkness kicked ass right ? :hihi: Title: Re: Biggest thing you did for GN'R? Post by: inlikeflynn420 on March 29, 2014, 06:56:06 PM Quit my job to see them open for Aerosmith at the Spectrum (RIP) in '88. I did ask for the day off a few weeks earlier, but my boss forgot about it and wouldn't let me have off, so....see ya!

As for the size and/or content of your collection - as long as you're happy, that's what matters! Title: Re: Biggest thing you did for GN'R? Post by: willow on March 30, 2014, 08:18:13 AM lets see all the money I have spent on my collection over the years. Driving with Cineater all the way too Sturgis in 2010. 900 miles! I wasn't going too miss my fav. band play at my favorite place on the planet. Actually went too Vegas in 2002 after the tour was cancelled not wanting too lose our airfare. We tried too make the best out of it but I have too admit it totally sucked when we got there and the billboard was still up on the main highway. lol
Title: Re: Biggest thing you did for GN'R? Post by: thinkaboutyou on March 30, 2014, 09:33:46 AM Spent over 12k seeing all GNR's Australia shows in 2010 and 2013
Saw one show in Melbourne 93 and 2 shows in Melbourne 2007 Spent tens of thousands on my GNR collection I spent 1k on my 5 Axl Rose Topps cards that are still pending release Title: Re: Biggest thing you did for GN'R? Post by: Conan on March 30, 2014, 10:28:36 AM Went to see them at Eastern Creek raceway in Sydney in 1993 as a 16 year old.
Caught the overnight bus (1000k journey from home) each way, stayed in a backpackers hostel for two nights and scrounged food for two days in Sydney with only $60 to my name... On the return journey I could only afford 2x 30 cent ice cream cones as a McDonalds was the only place they stopped for us to eat. Otherwise I'd probably just have nicked something... Title: Re: Biggest thing you did for GN'R? Post by: draguns on March 30, 2014, 11:02:39 AM Wow! My friends think I'm obsessed with GNR. The only thing that I have done was support them by buying their albums and going to shows when they are in the NJ/NYC area when I can afford it.

Title: Re: Biggest thing you did for GN'R? Post by: adydas78 on March 30, 2014, 03:55:55 PM Waited for Axl to show up on stage, May 31st 2006, in Budapest Hungary. More than 3 hours worth of wait...I think he broke some record there, I was ready to wait about2 hours, 3 hours were a bit surprising...
Was a good show anyways, although a bit short. Title: Re: Biggest thing you did for GN'R? Post by: MNGS717 on March 30, 2014, 06:22:07 PM Gave Axl a rest as I helped sing heavens door at hammersmith in 2006. I never get bored mentioning that. :smoking: That is the best thing I have heard all day!!For me...Waited in line for many hours alone to get concert tickets three different mornings in 2002. Waited almost 4 hours each time and all shows were cancelled. In the weeks after the riot some people laughed at me like Nelson from The Simpsons..HA-HAA!! "I told you so" they always said. At that point I gave up on seeing the band until 2008 or so when I felt like things were getting a lot better and I believed it could be possible. I never gave up on the actual band...just had given up on seeing them live. So I guess to answer the question the biggest thing I've done is not given up! Title: Re: Biggest thing you did for GN'R? I was considering skipping my graduation to go to the Hammerstein show, but my dad had already paid money to fly down and see the graduation and stay the weekend. Luckily we had booked a flight going back to NJ early on 5/14/06. I got home, said hello to my mom for a few minutes and took NJ Transit into the city. I slept on my friend's couch for 3 nights and saw the remaining 3 Hammerstein shows which I forgot to mention to him I was doing.
I also had a job interview on that Monday 5/15/06 morning...... and I ended up getting the job : ok: Title: Re: Biggest thing you did for GN'R? Title: Re: Biggest thing you did for GN'R? Post by: w.david rose on April 02, 2014, 07:55:34 AM In 2012 the Band came for one show in Israel and the Promoter did very poor job with promoting the show on Radio, TV etc...
5 days before the show they asked me to Interview me as "the biggest Fan of GNR in Israel" to sell I guess more tickets. 2 guys from the biggest News Channel came to my home and did an Interview with me so I had to clean my "GNR TEMPLE" Room and I was very sick that moment and could barely speak cause I lost my voice for 2 days. the Interview took more than a hour and I just told good things and the way I see the Band and how much I love the new lineup vs the old one that most of the people know from the 80's and 90's. that Interview is somewhere in the net I guess, maybe I'll find it later and you can see the whole crazy temple with rare items. If I was the Guy that managing the GNR show in Israel , I'm sure it was a lot more than 15,000 people in our country. I'm doing anything I can in those 23 years being a GNR fan and trying to promote the Bands name and everything that connect to the Band. Title: Re: Biggest thing you did for GN'R? Met some cool HTGH members (can't remeber who - Kikki was one of them I remenber) in the hard rock, got blind watching an awesome GNR cover band. The Foo fighters played instead which was cool anyway. Dave Grohl did a parody of axl and thanked him for pulling out. Title: Re: Biggest thing you did for GN'R? Post by: NCrazy on April 03, 2014, 01:42:11 PM Slept in front of a garbage can from noon- 8pm to assure I was the first 1 in the door in Atlantic City in 2010 only to find out about 150 people who showed up right before the doors opened had a separate pass the line that for some reason I didn't know about until it was too late. I've also educated countless unaware Gnr Fans that they do indeed still exist (without Slash) & they have played hundreds & hundreds of kick- ass shows in since 2006 mostly which Axl not
only shows up for & sounds awesome but actually comes out pretty on time & they released a new album in 2008! Title: Re: Biggest thing you did for GN'R? Post by: Kaleigh on April 04, 2014, 10:52:19 PM Nothing on the level of others, but went to Vegas during Thanksgiving weekend 2012 to catch the last residency show. It's only appropriate that GNR received the honors of being my first concert out of state!
Title: Re: Biggest thing you did for GN'R? Post by: Z?phyr on April 06, 2014, 03:12:46 PM Heh, giving away my copy of Chinese Democracy to every douche-bag who told me that album sucks because he/she heard it from someone else without even listening through the album and deciding for themselves.
Leaves me buying a fresh copy every time though, yet the feelgood moment is priceless ;-) "Here you go, decide for yourself!" Title: Re: Biggest thing you did for GN'R? Post by: Mysteron on April 09, 2014, 02:34:26 PM Been their fan, bought their music and went to see them play. What should we have done for them? Dumb thread. It's not a dumb thread at all. Music is a big thing to alot of people. It can be the common thing between two people that marry. It can be the one thing that gets a child living a bad life from point A to point B in a good way. It can be that something that helps someone get over a divorce, a death or some other negative experience Music and bands are a big deal to alot of people, so sometimes people will want to give back in their own way. What is dumb about that? Title: Re: Biggest thing you did for GN'R? Post by: ticognr on April 10, 2014, 08:19:31 PM made a huge flag (10x10) to Rio de Janeiro gig in 2010. : ok:

but to flip it the other way gnr music has done a lot for me tho... its always there for me when I need it... so im thankful for that... I am critical of the operation, i think it leaves a lot to be desired over the years, but I am always thankful for the live era music and for the chinese democracy album |
