i've been wanting to check this place out (the venue and the casino). it's only about an hour from my house, and they have been bringing in ALOT of acts there. sucks it's a Tuesday night, but oh well.

less than 30 minutes, closest GNR will ever play to me besides my back yard. it's happening. believe it.

What I'm doing now is waiting on gunsnroses.com to see if they are going to add a VIP option (which may or may not include early entry...hoping). 

Anyway I just checked to see what happens if I buy a regular GA ticket.  It says "Will Call" so that means if there is no VIP then I'm stuck waiting in a Will Call line, meanwhile hundreds of other people are already in another line with tickets waiting to go inside.  If I can't get a VIP ticket then I guess I'll wait till the public sale and hope to get a ticket.  In that case I will be able to show up at the venue 6-8 hours early to get in the front of the line.  Maybe there is another way..

I called the Sands hotel.  The lady said they are indeed sold out of rooms.   I don't get it..   Why are there so many rooms booked there that week?    ???

If the Sands is sold out, try Comforts Suites University which is 20 minutes away along the south side of the river, or Fairfield Suites which is north over the river, again a 20 minute walk. Historic and Hyatt are other options, along the north side, prolly 30 minutes

There are some closer places, but they are quite pokey.

The area around Comfort Suites can be a little dodgy at nightime, so be careful there.

Hotel Bethlehem and the Hyatt are nice too, they also generally provide transportation to the casino.

South side of Bethlehem has quite a few places to hang out at as well.

Thank you, fingers crossed...  Just bought a pair of GA tickets from Ticketmaster.  It cost 159.50 for two tickets and they will mail them to my house for free.  Very happy because I always like to collect my concert tickets.  :)

The casino has an anniversary going on the whole month of May. They are also having Rock week and GnR is kicking it off early. There are going to be acts everyday.

Yeah I really do love that about GNR shows.  I'm working that day in NYC but I don't have to stress about missing any of the show even if I have to work a little late.  Sure I will be a zombie the next morning at work, but who gives a shit, one day of no sleep wont kill me.  Can't wait for this show!

it will sell out.  I believe that ticketmaster said there were "not many left."  I fully expect this show to be sold out soon just based off the types of bands they have played there that do sell it out.  I think some people in the area might be waiting for something in NYC to happen.

just got my ticket on ticketmaster!

now it has the "not many left" message on there. kinda strange. maybe they added some tickets since yesterday. i would have guessed this would be about 2/3 full, which would be fine with me cause it would enable me to get relatively closer to the stage. but i hope it is sold out. if they really did sell clse to 3,000 tickets already, that tells me alot people are fired up for this show. a packed house means alot more energy, which can make for an all around better show.

It should def be sold out.  It seems that people are fired up about this show.  Ive seen a lot of people on facebook from my area saying they are going who have never seen the band before. The Sands is a pretty cool place for a show.  I was only there once for blink 182 last year, but I remember liking it.

still hope they add a VIP package.  I check everyday to see if they do.  Something new that I've seen added to SA VIP packages: A tour backstage.  That would be really cool!  Also meet some of the band.  I've met Frank and Tommy so far but it's been awhile. 

This venue looks freakin sweet. Wish we had something like it here.

yeah that would b awesome- I've only met Frank- about 3 years ago when that played with Buckcherry Halloween night- I was seated up front next to the stage & he graciously stopped for  quite a long chat when he strolled by before the show- very cool & down to earth guy-would love to meet any of the other band members

I've seen video from that show!!  What a crazy fun decorated stage!  When I met Frank it was raining super hard and he was backing up his car after a Pisser show.  Thought he was leaving so I called out "Are you coming back??" and he cracked his window and said YES asked me to stand behind his car so he could back it up without bumping anything.  Then he hung out for awhile and was very nice to talk with.   I read about Axl meeting a ton of people in Philly last time after show.  Fingers crossed!

A guy I work with said this is an outdoor venue. If so, it'll be the first time I've seen GnR outside since '92 with Metallica & Faith No More.

It's not outdoor. It's a small venue indoors. I saw motley crue here

definitely an indoor venue. they have an outside PNC Pavillion that gets used in the summer.

yeah the stage decorations were whack! I managed to get a headstone prop from the stage that DJ had tossed off the stage- great memento! That show was absolutely amazing- Axl voice was incredible & they played into the wee hrs. of the nite/early am- they wore out most of the fans including myself who left before the end- it was about 3am & they had already played bout 25 songs with no end in sight! I was definitely fufilled! :smoking:

That guy must've been talking about the outdoor pavilion. He saw Boston there 2 yrs ago and said it was definitely outside. Oh well, maybe they'll swing back around in the summer. Would love to see them outside again sometime. The other time was in Hershey and they got banned for life for going too late. That was a great show--Skid Row opened and I found a bag of mushrooms in my glove box I forgot about. : ok:

Wish I went to that show at Hershey!  Been to lots of concerts there.  Was a few years too young for GN'R.  Listened to the recording and the funniest part is when Axl says something about "OK we have enough T-shirts"...apparent a number of people were throwing shirts onto the stage!!

They did get banned for life but mostly due to the foul language that could be heard for a mile away.  In the days after the concerts there were a lot of angry letters that were printed in the local newspaper.  I also know that show Duff's hand was cut with a razor blade by audience member but wasn't there a knife incident involving Baz? 

When I saw Aerosmith at Hershey 2004 they showed up late and ended up paying $40,000 fine.  $1,000 a minute!!

I drove to NY a few weeks ago to go to the Jimmy Fallon show. On the way back i saw this billboard on the NJ turnpike. i believe it was around exit 14 or 15 heading southbound from NY. really cool to see this show being advertized like this. especially since this is about 75 miles away from bethlehem.

Still no rooms that night at the Sands.  My friend might driving his camper there so I'll stay in the parking lot if need be. 

There are plenty of nice but inexpensive hotels very close by- done it plenty of times before

I really thought there would be more shows added around this one. It is pretty weird that it's a stand alone show. But... it is only an hour & a half from my house, so i'm psyched! Plus, it'll be me and my girlfriend's first GnR concert together!

It's probably a warm up show for their Vegas stint. To try out their setup.

You could bring the bare essentials to the show (production wise) and the festival, and then have something completely different built up in Vegas for the residency.

They have professionals that could setup anything without testing. Just speculation on my part. This casino brings in a lot of big acts and GnR is just one of them. I hope they do something like last years residency.

I'd be fine with no pyro and nothing fancy.  I don't think pyro adds very much.   However I don't mind it either.   This show is getting closer by the day.  I am ready.  I have been ready!

Very true. Especially in computer software we see professionals releasing anything without testing. And it all ends up in tears.

The staging and production at the last residency was unlike anything the band has traveled with on tour. So I think it's not unlikely that we will see something different in Las Vegas later this month.

But for the two shows prior, it might be scaled down... Maybe something similar to last year's US shows. Who knows.

It would be very cool but I doubt it.  I'm sure whatever band it was would be promoting it online by now.  I was kind of hoping for D Generation,Manitoba, or Toilet Boys since they opened other shows as I'm a fan..especially D Generation and Manitoba.  Anyway, doors at 9pm and my guess is that GN'R will probably start sometime between 10:30-11:30pm.  Might need a winter coat and hat to wait after the show in hopes of meeting Axl.

Not very far from me, probably less than an hour.

But...I would need this to be on a weekend.  I can't be going to a concert an hour away for a band that won't even hit the stage until 11 (maybe).

I'd have probably sucked it up and just been dog tired on Wednesday if this was something new.  But I've already seen this tour live in person, and have more than enough bootlegs of the same set of songs.

Give me something new, I'm all over it.

Yes I was.  I was one of the first on the waiting list.  If you look at the Sands vacancy on their website, that week is starting to open up for some reason.   When the concert was announced the entire week was sold out.  I think they are having other events in the area.   

Every show is new to me and I had a great time so far..  With this show I don't know when we are showing up or when we are leaving.  Maybe by 3 or 4am we might check out the casino.  I like staying up all night anyway so driving 2 hours to get home at 5am is no big deal.
Hope they play Shackler's because they had not played it in a couple years until the recent tour it was played 5 times.  Anyone remember back in 2011 at a show out west...some people were leaving during show because it was too "late"?  Axl told them to enjoy their Lady Gaga records.  Then energy drinks were passed out to people in the front.  HA!

I'm not even showing up to the sands until 10 PM.  There is a Lehigh Valley AAA baseball game so I might catch that until 9:45 PM and then head over.  Beats standing up for over 7 hours like last time in Atlantic City waiting until midnight.  We have GNR that night, Bruce Springsteen in Hershey the next night and then back to the Sands for the Killers concert the 15th.  Gonna be an intense week of shows.

Is there any type of early admission line? Or is it first come first get in for all?

Great question, my guess is that the line will form for general admission whenever the 1st one wants to stand there. I saw a similar type show at the Borgata and it was that way. Anyone have any other opinion?

Not sure what time i'm heading in. with no shows lately, we don't have any recent trends to use to come up with an educated guess. i remember the EF show in philly, they came out a little earlier than i thought they would. in AC, i think it was later than i was guessing. 10PM is probably safe, but the whole time i'll probably be thinking "what if they decide to come on early tonight?" so i'll go in at 9 and they'll start at midnight.  :hihi:

Bummed that the newer "Suites" don't sound like they are much more than glorified boxes above the crowd to the right of the stage though.

Back at the hotel after losing $200 ugh, anyhow great show, the band and Axl were so on it tonight and thanks a million for the early start... Gonna appreciate that tomorrow haha. Anyhow great show and I wanna give credit to the fans in the crowd tonight. Everyone was cool, no drunken dickheads near us like in Atlantic City where I had to punch a guy in the face for shoving my girlfriend.  My favorite part of the night...this I love. He absolutely nailed it.

So many awesome moments to share from last night.
First of all, fuck the haters...seriously, they're delusional.  The band was REALLY good last night.
Axl sounded great.
My absolute favorite moment of the night was Mr. DJ Ashba's class.
Me and my bro-in-law were close to the stage (left side facing the stage)...and to our left in the front row of the elevated seating area section there was a physically handicapped chick in a wheelchair.  She had to be there pretty early, was obviously into the show...and fucking DJ just really gave her extra special attention.  Early in the show he went over to her and that was cool.  Then later, even cooler he kind of got behind her and let her have the guitar in front of her.  I'm not explaining it well, but it was a CLASSY fucking thing to do.  

Other show highlights:
This I Love (my fav off of CD) was awesome.
Nightrain was great.  DJ got right into the audience.  My bro-in-law was pattin' him on the back as he was playing.
Axl was moving like a man possessed during "Seeker" towards the end.  Very cool tune that Axl and the band nailed.
Funny moment, Ron acknowledged his mom was in the audience...proceeded to dedicate the next tune to her...and proceeded to start screaming a song that included lyrics that included "fucking bitch."  I couldn't understand most of the lyrics, but we definitely got a kick out of that.  :)
I loved DJ's solo La Bella Vita? name?  I just really dig his solos.  Tommy and Richard were doing a bit of clowning during DJ's solo if I am recalling correctly.
On some of the tunes Axl did some of those really long-held notes.  Love that shit.

My bro-in-law won $50 bfore the show at the casino.
We got to say hi to and shake hands with Tommy before the show at one of the restaurants.
I'm pretty sure Pittman was there too.

Your exactly right.  I was amazed at how friendly but exuberant the crowd was & we were right in front where it can be the worst as in Atlantic City as stated above which was horrific! Only 1 idiot drunk that what dealt with swiftly by security. It was great to hear from so many fans that appreciate & love "this" line-up & not only the classics but the songs off Chinese as well- especially the 14-year old girl we helped have the concert experience of her life! Also great having the band start at a reasonable time & finally looked like just a handful left before the end- still 1ish am.

 Some things I noticed: familiar, but very well-flowing set, Axl's pure power is not what it was compared to a couple years back but he had moments of absolute brilliance like on very tricky vocal songs like "TIL', "Dont CRY', "Catcher" & "Chinese" was the best I've heard him sing it, but he didn't have the power & stamina I've previously heard on "JUNGLE", L&LD, & especially YCBM which he normally tears thru. His voice prolly just needs to warm-up after a several week lay-off cause as others mentioned he did sound amazing overall & seemed to come back to life after I thought his voice was wearing out on KOHD & Nightrain which was insane! His energy & mood were terrific all the way thru- the band is tite as ever & DJ plays an integral role as the heart of the band- man knows how to work a crowd! At 1 point even had an exchange with my wife who was giving him shit about no drumstick for her & he motioned to "Call Him"-lol. Also noticed the GNR screen was way to low on stage just sitting on the ground where we could only see the top half of it- Axl poked fun at it at 1 point & his onstage charisma & showmanship remain second to none & I dont know why but all members but DJ are way stingy with Picks!  :peace:

Same experience here...  Although this was the earliest I think I've ever seen the band go on, 10:35pm, with a short intermission between bands.

Yeah, you kind of do...You go back to square one.  Hopefully you at least got laid... 

I was on that side as well, saw Ashba do the samething.  Nice guy to take the time during a show and do that.

Awesome performance from Guns... really pleased to see "Estranged" live.

That said, was I the only one who thought the crowd was an utter embarrassment? Pathetic up front. I was about 8th row/center, and almost everyone around me was either standing around or taking videos on their phones. Seems like every time I go to a concert, people get more and more afraid to rock out and have a good time. I mean... pump a fist, sway to a ballad, bang your head during the heavier songs, shout the lyrics, do something.

The video-phone people drive me insane. You're yards away from Axl Rose, but you're watching him on a 3-inch screen? Really? I'm fine with snapping a picture here and there, but sticking your phone in the air and filming vast chunks of a show is a pain in the ass for those of us trying to watch and enjoy the *actual* show.

I have NEVER understood this?!... happens at every concert.  Even more mindblowing is that the people doing this are often only at the show to hear the hits of whichever artist is performing - and those are the songs they decide to record on their phone!

Seriously, does anyone seek out shitty cell phone videos from someone else's concert experience on Youtube?  No one else cares! Watch the show live!

It's an insecurity thing. People need something to brag about on Facebook. It's not enough to enjoy a show--you need visual evidence to impress all you friends.

Basically, having a good time is less important than making your friends think you had a good time.

Yeah, he tended to get drowned out under the guitars, but I've come to expect that from rock/metal shows.

Being fucking there, I can assure you Axl was only a bit down in the mix for the 1st 2 songs.  After CD and Jungle, it was smooth sailing.
I will say I was a bit concerned at first!  I was like oh no, the sound's a bit muffled where I was standing.  No worries after that.
...and yes, Axl muffed the Better outro.  Once he was off it, he kinda just let the music finish without vocals.
The positives outweighed any negatives 1000 to 1 though.
btw, I've seen a youtube clip from last night's The Seeker.  It didn't do the performance justice.  Axl was quick as fuck on the stage.  He must have had some caffeine b4 that song, he was awesome!  On the video clip I saw of it on youtube, ya can't really see Axl's motion relative to his surroundings because the camera's moving as he moves.
I am very much looking forward to seeing This I Love from last night again as it was fucking awesome live.

I didn't find that overly negative.

The reality is that no review will ever say that the current line-up is better than the originals.  But I thought this reviewer made that point without being overly derogatory or anything.  And really, no shots taken at Axl.

And I have to agree with him about the endless amount of solo spots.  It does hurt the flow of a the show a bit, viewed objectively.

Agree...the solos take a bit away from the energy and momentum build up...but that's not on the new band.  GnR's had solo spots forever.  Remember Sorum's drum solo?  At least that's been taken out.

Overall it was a great concert. Axl delivered big time.  I am ready now for Vegas this was a great tease as I expect Vegas to be even more fun. 

Oh yeah, that was brutal.  That whole band solo segment after 'November Rain'.

But...at least it was all bunched together.

Glad everyone had a good time and the band sounded good, but doesn't it feel like we have heard all this before? Meaning same set list, same songs, same clothes, same reviews etc...Ready for a new GN'R chapter to get started. Let's get something different from this band.

Here's my issue with it...he doesn't know his shit. (surprise, surprise from a music critic)
At least do your homework.  Did he even stay for the whole show?  The Seeker was on near the end of the show and Axl KILLED it!  Tremendous energy, great shift from "low to hiiiiIIGH!"  
The reviewer also said Rocket Queen was shaky.  Um, no?  
And,  the title of his review was clearly negative and derogatory.  Who would argue though...it's quite fashionable to hate on GNR.
That said, if he wanted to be critical, he could have mentioned some flubbed lines, like in Better...but why let accuracy get in the way of "good journalism," right?

I agree with you as I tend to think 'The Seeker', on average, is one of the better tunes they do.  But I don't know anyone that disagrees with you or I are automatically "wrong".  Ditto 'Rocket Queen'.  You dug it, he didn't.  Difference of opinion.

The review's title, hey, nothing you can do about that.  Its how 97% of the world sees it.  Those of us on GNR message boards are a niche of a niche.  I don't worry about those sorts of comments.  I would take greater issue with a guy who never got past that and let that dominate his review, populated with a lot of snarky comments.  This guy did not do that.

I thought Axl actually sounded better than many of the shows I have been to in recent years.  Granted, I was standing about 5 people deep from him which of course was an amazing experience but all in all it was a very solid show.  I am glad I got to go since Vegas wasn't in the cards for me this time around. ;D

.   Not sure bout down in the mix but his voice was at times awesome & other times not. Period. & no way in fuckin hell was he holding notes forever with hurricane force intensity as he was able to 3-4 yrs ago like the poster said previously. He either can't or won't because of the stress on his voice. Don't get me wrong- his voice is spectactular but not consistently as before- that's coming from an always supportive die hard fan just keepin it real.

That's just an honest review.

Best Axl I've seen and heard so far this year. Something has definately changed in the weeks after the awards. Seeing and hearing The Seeker from yesterday... Feels like 'The Seeker' has found his mojo back. Great energy and/in vocal performance. Really really good.

So much energy in the performance...especially the verse where he's pounding his chest then pointing at the audience:
"I'm lookin for me
You're lookin for you
Were lookin at each other and we don't know what to do..."
...and did I mention the "low to high" awesomeness?   8)

The Seeker got incredible crowd reaction. I thought Axl sounded amazing on Patience.  November Rain was great.  You don't complain about the setlist when you are actually there hearing these classic amazing songs live. 

Damn!  I though I was in line by then.  There were three others wearing the shirt I was!!  HA!

At the front of the line fences there was a sign about no pocket camera.  I got pissed but decided that since we would be up front then I wouldn't be able to take a photo anyway without getting kicked out!!  Casino's are weird and I didn't know what would happen so I took my little camera back to the car.  Since there were not too many people in line my friend and I decided to walk through the shopping center inside the building between the venue and the casino.  I saw a couple kids near the escalator and met with them for a few minutes.  I knew as soon as I saw them that it was the opening band, "Unlocking The Truth".  I got a photo with Jarad and Alec and told them they are awesome!!
I was looking around to see if I could find a cheap disposable camera but then gave up and we went back to wait in line.

Around 7pm they let us into a big lobby where there were doors where a pile of people waited to be let inside another set of doors direct into the show room.  Very cool to meet you NCrazy and your wife.  We had a great time talking.  While we waited a woman collapsed on the floor for unknown reason then they took her away.  It was right next to us and was scary!  By now there were around 500 people in the lobby drinking and buying shirts..etc.  Around 8pm a security man tried to shout over the crowd a pep talk about being respectful to each other and not trampling anyone when they open the doors.  I laughed and said to my friend.."On your mark...Get Set.."  It was awesome!!  The second they open the door EVERYONE around us made a crazy sprint to the stage.  It was a mad dash to the front barricade that reminded me of the "Estranged" music video.  With only luck I made it to the railing for the first time ever directly in front of Ron and the giant confetti cannon.  It was so cool!  Still can't believe it and said to my friend if we go again how could it be any better! 

"Unlocking The Truth" was pretty cool as expected.  Many of their songs were more instrumental.  I know part of the attraction is their age but imagine what they can do in the future..  I feel like if they would have just played 5 songs and left the audience would have been wanting more but they played a bit longer.  Towards the end of their set I was just wanting GN'R to come out and play instead of more songs but it was fun.

GN'R came out less than an hour later with minimal stage setup.  The band blasted through the songs with little or no pause.  Some people on the rail in the center commented that they could not hear Axl well but off to the left we could hear him real good even with people singing along!!  One thing I noticed and to clear things up early during the show there was a little bit of static coming from Axl's microphone.  Of course he noticed it too but it wasn't until BETTER during the end of song I was watching him sing and the mike was pretty much dead.  Instead of smashing the microphone he stepped away from it and froze like a statue.  When he stepped back over to the mike it was working again.  A couple more time during the show I notice a little static but nothing that stopped the show!  The best for me was hearing "Catcher" for the first time, Tommy's solo, and also "The Seeker" for the first time.  Hearing "Estranged" again is just so great too! 

Like some other mentioned...I noticed within the first few MINUTES of the show DJ ran over to the far side of stage past where I was at and gave the security guard a pick and pointed to the young girl in the wheelchair so he could give it to her.  That was really kind of him because how could he even see her all the way across the room and later he played guitar with his arms around her.  Ron tossed me a pick towards the end of the show and that was awesome!  Anyway...Axl and the band were full of energy and they played hard.  At some points Axl did have some trouble but it was NOT bad...in fact more awesome than not!  I'm not a huge November Rain fan but the ending he was tearing through..."Don't you think"...it was just insane!

Did Axl throw out his mike at the end of show?  If he did I totally missed it.

After the show we went to a small fence where we could see them loading the truck.  DJ waved at us but he was talking on the phone and didn't come over.  There were only around 20 of us waiting and the security guards told us that no one was coming out and we were all to leave or we would be arrested for loitering.  My friend already agreed that we could wait until 4am or maybe later so that I could meet Axl but no luck.  We went to the slot machine and played another hour and then went home.  It was really cool to be playing slot machines and see all these people walking around wearing GN'R shirts!  Anyway...kick ass show and hope they come back again!!

Sorry you didn't get to meet any of the band after waiting so long, security here also told us everyone had gone & there was no point in waiting at the gate (all 5 of us) but sure enough we told them we didn't believe them & Axl's car came out & he wound the window down & said hi to us. My biggest regret is it happened so fast I didn't get to the car in time & he didn't get out for photos.  Maybe next time.


Again thanks for sharing, it's so well written I could feel the experience with you. I felt so low after the whole experience as the adrenalin died down & I knew that it was all over. Don't you just hate it when they start playing Paradise City?  :no:  You know it's the last song.

So glad to read a positive review & that's why Axl stepped back from the microphone & stared for a while - was he getting a 'kick' from the static electricity or was it just making a static noise? It really hurts when you get a kick from static.  :nervous:

Did you see Jarmo there? He was going back & forward in front of us constantly & I wanted to tap him on the shoulder but as the music was so loud we wouldn't have been able to speak anyway.

dolphins,  I was hearing a static kind of sound but not many times, but it was definitely coming from Axl's mike.  It would be for like half a second.  Axl did laugh after "BETTER" anyway. 
This was my 3rd time seeing GN'R.  I did get some photos with my friend and then a good one of my other friend Eric where there are three of us throwing huge handfuls of confetti in the air.  After Paradise City the fun does not have to end!  Did you see all the confetti down the hallways?  hahaa
I was probably standing near you for awhile when there were maybe 15 people waiting after show.  I saw a couple people with guitars and records.  I had a print of a photo I took but maybe I'll get it signed at a future show..
I saw Jarmo down front and flashed him the peace sign and he smiled and nodded.  I saw Beta and others walking by throughout the show.  It was cool being so close that I could have helped Kat by pushing buttons on her camera. hahaa

Sorry I wasn't at your show, I went in March in Australia & we had front row & after the concert we had passes to party with the band afterwards courtesy of BBF. That was March last year & it was the best concert I've been to & at 53 I'd been to so many. We threw bras at Axl & he smiled, I couldn't believe I was so caught up I was screaming to Axl like a 16yr old  :yes:

Got home at 3am that night/day which is hard as my party days are over but still couldn't stop watching more videos of them when I got home. They really get the adrenalin going - can't wait for them to return to Australia. As long as Axl keeps on rockin' so will I  :peace: : ok:

Great meeting you too! you & JOE  really helped make this a fun concert! Did We have the perfect spot or what? couldn't get any better & You guys helped my wife who has a bad back & spend mos. in the hospital before this show be safely right up front on the rail-my legs are still sore from that mad dash run once the doors opened! that was nuts! sorry you guys didn't get to meet Axman- you prolly have better odds at at winning in the casino- but hey it's all about the thrill of the chance!  As you said DJ is all heart- playing his guitar with his strap around the girl in the wheelchair's neck was very sweet of him.

 Bumble & Fortus are perfect note for note every time but I just don't feel any personality coming from those guys on stage- DJ really is the key to connecting the band to the crowd. GnR wouldn't be the same without him- I think they would be more of just a cover band, except for AXL of course who has become much more playful in his later years. As I said, his voice is not what is was from 06'-'10 but it's still fantastic & he continues to be the most charismatic entertaining frontman out there! :smoking:

i don't have much to add to what has already been said. others have captured most of the show really well.

i am critical of this band when necessary. i don't shy away from negative comments. but there is not much to criticize from that show. the sound was amazing. Axl was in a good mood, high energy, and sounded great overall. i was sober and not just caught up in the moment. i walked around to different locations in the venue and really took everything in.

Seeker was definitely a highlight. they nail that song!! was great to hear it live. the first four songs were killer as always. It's So Easy especially!! Axl's voice sounded extremely strong. he was on fire! there were times where he was really pushing himself vocally and totally went for it. it was awesome. Patience stood out to me as a great moment during the show. This I Love as well. 

at one point he commented that the venue was nice and that they will come back in the future.     

i was in the back for the beginning of the show, and the sound was absolutely perfect. Axl's mix was perfect. i think with the volume that this band plays and the thickness of their songs makes it difficult, if not impossible, to get the sound perfect in all areas of an arena. when i saw them in camden, the volume was so overbearing that it took a few songs for my ears (and my brain!) to adjust. and i was close to the stage at that show and Axl was way too low in the mix. not once during this show did i think he needed to be louder.

Sounds good to me... I wonder why he sounds so much better than he has recently (by most accounts)

I don't have much to add that was not already said positive about the show. Yes the MIC was thrown.  I was close to the whistle but I missed it and I almost knocked some poor lady over.  I felt bad.  It was a few feet further than I thought when I made a move for it.   :-[  I guess I was still buzzed at that point

I was about 10 - 15 people deep right of center and the sound was perfect for me. Everyone kicked ass.   I have no complaints about the show.  It was awesome. I have been to plenty Guns shows from 91 till now and I will say without a doubt this show was one of the best shows for me.  I hope some day they come back to Sands.

Who (Was it Del) that kept flinging picks at DJ from side stage. It was funny, it went on forever.

I saw the review from the Lehigh Live News as well, I was going to email that ass wipe. Obviously he don't know shit and he must of left early. No way he had that review typed up and ready to go that quick by 1:52 am.  I think he took the boiler plate negative comment BS and ran with it.

My only complaint was the sands staff wanting to hurry the crowd away.  I have been to other shows while they start to break down the stage and the road crew hands out picks and drum sticks.  This time you could not even begin to get close enough to ask.  The Sands staff was quick to order you away.

I wish I had the funds to go to Vegas.

 

i was unimpressed with some of the SA youtube clips i had seen, and i was worried that Axl was on a Vince Neil-like decline. on the clips, i thought he seemed tired and disinterested. and the vocals were so-so.

not the case at all at this show!

and i know there's alot of debate about his voice on youtube clips vs live. and all i can say is that his weakest moments sound EXTRA weak on youtube. for whatever reason, his faults really stand out, and you just can't capture the fullness of the overall sound with a phone camera. so it all sounds worse on youtube vids.

in person, when he goes high-pitched, it sounds clean. it doesn't sound bad at all. and with the music it all fits together. i spoke to a bunch of random people (i went to the show solo), and almost everyone said they couldn't believe how great Axl sounded.

this show brought back my confidence is Axl! i was a little worried there that the end was near. now i want more music and another tour!

Don't know how I missed seeing the mic thrown but everything happened so fast and it definitely didn't end up on my side!  The guy next to me was friendly but often blocking my view with his stupid mini tablet hoisted in the air but I can't complain!  I asked him if he had a Youtube channel and he said NO...where do all these videos go...Facebook?  Told him to email me some photos. 

Anyway I saw Tom Mayhue flinging some picks WAY out into the crowd but I was on the other side!  I'll agree that Lehigh news guys sucks.  He wrote a dumb pre-show article where it was like the band might not even show up!  Maybe years and years ago but everyone should know by now that GN'R rarely cancels a show and if they do it's because of a serious problem.  Axl was even sick with flu during some of the UCAP shows and he still gave the best show he could. 

Wish I could go to at least one Vegas show too but I rarely ever get a break from everything.  At least long enough to go for a couple days.

Bethelehm was a great show.  I thought Axl was on most of the night but he definitley had his struggles.  Jungle, Better, YCBM, TIL, some lines from Heaven's Door.. he just can't seem to hit the high notes any more.

I went with two women who never saw Gn'R before, and aren't too familure with CD or the new band.  They cringed a few times when Axl was trying to hit those high notes (such as the metal breakdown in Better), but overall enjoyed the show. 

The solos killed it for them though, they had a good time but solo after solo just killed the momentum.  Maybe the hardcore fans enjoy it but I'm sure the casual goers feel more like the two ladies I was with did.  I expect a lot of people to leave at RotR during those long solos during the middle of the set this year.

I'll skip a review because so much has been said but it was a great time for me, Gn'R were real good and it was just an all around great night.  I didn't enjoy myself as much as I did in Camden a few years ago but any Gn'R show is going to be a good time.  I just wish the set was varied a little more (but don't we all..?).  Can't wait til next time.

I too was at Camden a few years ago as well as the Bethlehem show.
For me, the only difference in my experience was the atmosphere created by the venue.  Bethlehem was like going to a rock show in Utah (if they even have them)...no tail-gating allowed, security seemed to be on ultra-high alert.  A bit on the unnecessary level in my opinion, but whatever.  Camden was like...well...Camden!  You go to a recent murder capital of the U.S., and you get what you expect.  A homeless dude coming up to our truck asking for money was our welcome to THAT jungle for real!   :hihi:   I missed a few songs that show tending to my bro-in-law who was drunk and being tended to at the make-shift medical table.  What a night though.
Both shows were excellent in my opinion, and like I mentioned in my earlier post, at Bethlehem CD and WTTJ were really loud and Axl was a little low in the mix for where we were standing (front far left facing stage).
I heard a beautiful TIL.  And if high notes were what ya wanted, The Seeker featured several of them, all nailed (sometimes as a fanatical GNR fan, it feels like we're Olympic judges.  Axl nailing the many levels of the "goodbyyyyyyyyyye" of TIL at the end without having to take more than one breath is akin to an Olympic skater nailing a quadruple axel!)   ;D  Might I also add, Axl aced Patience and Don't Cry.  The long-held note at the end of Patience was another quadruple axel.  :)  It's So Easy's "FUCK OFF!" was a quadruple Axl. 

Did anybody else catch DJ's awesome act of respect for the girl in the wheelchair?  We were literally 5 to 10' away from it, and it was just so fucking awesome.  He MADE that girl's night (maybe year) and I'll be honest, I got a bit teary-eyed. 

There were moments during Patience were I swore Axl sounded similar to the recording on Lies.  I was surprised how into the Seeker the crowd was.   Axl does appear to be in good shape.   It was one of those nights where a lot of things went right.  Bottom line is I had a great time.  The next time I see Axl, it will be on Vegas time  :hihi:

Listen, I'll be honest, I had never heard The Seeker before in my life.  I believe the crowd had (obviously) but I loved it because a) vocally, he nailed it, and b) he was SO fucking into it.  Kind of like back when I saw them in Camden, one of my highlights was a fucking kick-ass enegetic Axl doing Whole Lotta Rosie.   You can tell when a performer feels something in the lyrics of a song.  For The Seeker he was moving faster, making demonstrative gestures, pounding his chest, etc.   Great shit.

I thought Axl sounded the most natural. His vocals were loose and airy, much more organic and not forced, stiff, and pinched sounding. This is the most raspy and soulful I've heard him in awhile.
Perhaps he was "saving his voice for the studio recordings." It seemed like Axl's voice goes in predictable patterns if one thinks back to the Chinese Democracy release date.
It is as if Axl is "saving his vocals" just before he records his studio tracks. There just seems to be something very deliberate about Axl's singing voice . . .  as if he is guarding it at times. Perhaps he is doing more recording than we realize.

Nicholas Cage's words of endearment and reverence gave Axl his moxie back-- a good confidence boost for a genius who has always struggled with his self-esteem and public perception. Axl, due to his traumatized youth, is sometime victim to his PTSD-- he has classic moments of freeze, flight, and fight. He has done them all, so it i clear that on night's where his confidence is lacking, he freezes and becomes stiff, or he is very late. Other nights the "fight" in him takes off and you never know if he will throw his mike, go on a rant, or sucker punch someone. And then there is the flight  . . . those moments where he just leaves and says fuck it.
He seems to have "loosened up" a bit. He feels the rhythm and has his old swagger and vibe going on again. When he is on fire he can sway and slither across the stage. He feels the "blues' in the rock n roll and the jive . . .

He nails it because he doesn't actually singing, he's 'talking'. It's easier. U know what i mean?

Its similar to Down on the farm.

That way he rests his voice and delivers a great performance.
