Title: Re: STREET OF DREAMS ON EBAY Post by: troccoli on November 24, 2013, 02:18:36 AM ^As they say, fools are born every day. And why would they be a fool to pay that exactly? Title: Re: STREET OF DREAMS ON EBAY Post by: littlehon on November 24, 2013, 02:23:19 PM im sure i could find ten people that would pay that if they didnt already have it and they are far from fools ! :peace:
Title: Re: STREET OF DREAMS ON EBAY Post by: jman2000 on November 24, 2013, 06:35:01 PM Yep, what littlehon and troccoli said. If you don't like price, item, etc don't buy it! Simple as that :)
Title: Re: STREET OF DREAMS ON EBAY Post by: troccoli on November 24, 2013, 07:10:02 PM Well, I'm not trying to be a dick or anything, I am genuinely asking why they think someone would be a fool for paying that amount for that item.
Title: Re: STREET OF DREAMS ON EBAY Post by: wadey on November 25, 2013, 12:31:27 PM ?150 seems a fair price to be fair
Title: Re: STREET OF DREAMS ON EBAY Post by: JMB-GNR on November 26, 2013, 02:30:01 PM ?150 seems a fair price to be fair I bought the same single a few years ago, along with the Better single, for 20 euro ;) Title: Re: STREET OF DREAMS ON EBAY Post by: russkwtx on November 26, 2013, 11:31:10 PM Well, I'm not trying to be a dick or anything, I am genuinely asking why they think someone would be a fool for paying that amount for that item. Well, let's see, oh, I know: because it is a preposterous price to pay for one song!!!For people who don't value money, money has no value. For people who work hard to earn a pound, it is easy to see that the price is ludicrous. I understand that the market price is what the market will bear. My point is that only fools pay ridiculous prices. Like in US baseball. Or, in this case, for a song. First of all your post implies that anyone who has paid or would pay this price for this item is not a hard worker. Not sure where that deduction is coming from. I also fail to understand how you deduce that any who buys this doesn't value money. Yes, one person here found it for 20 euros or whatever but that is just luck. Secondly, they are not paying for the song. It is a collector's item. The same reason people pay over a million dollars for a comic book, or a baseball card, or a painting. Don't get me wrong here - if you knew for a fact that some person paid this price for this item simply because they wanted to hear that song and they didn't know where else they could find it, then yes, that person would be an idiot. There are many people in the world who have their own thing they spend money on. For example I don't buy sunglasses or jeans that costs hundreds of dollars. I don't think that the people that do are fools who don't work hard or value money. Title: Re: STREET OF DREAMS ON EBAY Post by: russkwtx on December 04, 2013, 11:57:39 PM ^I save and invest in stocks. Have done quite nicely thank you, am well into 7 digits because I do not waste it on frivolous things. Oh, and the wife and I have quite the nice life. We go out to eat often, and travel frequently, with 4-5 vacations a year. Just got back from Mexico and an all inclusive resort on the beach. So it is all about how you value money and the things you can do with it. You can buy collectables and hope to get your money back, or you can invest and see real appreciation (and don't lecture me about how markets go up and down, I know), or you can buy nice experiences that you remember the rest of your life.

I was merely reading your post and commenting on it. Maybe you forgot what you wrote but go back and read it again. Here is one of the lines: "For people who work hard to earn a pound, it is easy to see that the price is ludicrous." I work hard at my job that pays me money. It is not easy for me to see how the price is ludicrous. I totally understand what you're saying regarding investing money, but my question to you is.... what do you care?? People collect art, baseball cards, music memorabilia, comics, hair, Pez dispensers, posters, guitar picks and the list goes on and on. If it weren't for the collectors many jobs wouldn't exist (i.e. Topps, Donruss) and the economy would be worse off for it. Its a hobby and a form of entertainment, nothing more nothing less. No one here has mentioned that their kids aren't going to college because of their hobby so who are we to judge? I personally wouldn't spend money on that, but I really don't care if some one else does. Title: Re: STREET OF DREAMS ON EBAY Post by: littlehon on December 05, 2013, 02:29:50 PM so if you value money why risk gambling it all on stocks ? so all your hard earned money could be lost and thats ok ? lol , as for the mexico holiday , yes ive been there and its very nice indeed :)
