I dreamed of seeing G N' R in my hometown one day if they ever played Brooklyn again. I was too young when they played L'Amour in '87.
Unfortunately because of financial obligations (thanks to Hurricane Sandy) I couldn't afford a ticket to Governor's Ball or a trip to see the band in Buffalo. And can't afford the $150 for the gig at Brooklyn Bowl.
Wish I could work for entry - maybe as a P.A. for the band or Fernando.

I actually had a ticket and passed on it. $160 just isn't worth it for the same show I saw at Webster hall, terminal 5 and rose land last year (there was a $10 service charge, thus the $160 tag)

I kinda agree bro. I was at "the ritz" and roseland. I gave my Terminal 5 tixs away. It is alot for basically the same show... BUT, I still would like to go but for personal reasons .. I cant... But for those that havent seen them "intimate" it'll be great for them!

Well lets see, I am living with HIV, no longer can work, ...just had to buy a new fridge today before I found out about the show, only get disability .so yeah not a college kid but a person who has to take care of other things, BUT hey I did swing Vegas shows, and 25 other GNR shows since 87, I think I'll be ok not seeing this one.asshole! oh I mean that most affectionately!

I agree with WAR41 but I think he didn't mean people in a situation such as yours Jazjme. You are a huge fan but have a lot going on. I assume WAR41 meant people who always complain they have no money or it's too expensive but then have no problem wasting $50 or $100 in drinks at a bar on a regular basis. I know several  people like that.

I'm glad the band is giving us the opportunity to see them in such a small venue (website says 600 people capacity) unlike the previous private events where we couldn't go.

I enjoyed all line ups, I was in a head on collision when I was 22 yrs old Dec. 1992 , by that time I had seen GNR 8-10 times.. while in the hospital as it was near Christmas all I wanted was the GNR VHS shows that were just released from Tokyo shows. Since then I saw them every time I could in NYC, from MSG 2002 and every show pretty much till my last shows in Vegas last yr. I loved every show . They keep me alive for sure. And yeah Im doing good health wise, so long as I do the things I need to. I have no doubt that I'll see them again some point later in the future. :)

Actually it's not on the spot..Next credit card bill is in about 1 month..Biggest obstacle is clearing the calendar..

I think it shows that in the US with the band playing smaller shows etc, that they can do cool things like this. Adding a show here and there as they please, making the "tour" up as they go along essentially. Compared to anywhere else in the world where things need to be planned months in advance and a tour booked to every detail, with barely any time in between.

Well its easier if u were actually in NYC/JERSEY area. Im three hours away. Have to find babysitter. "Permission" from job. Prob spend money on Hotel cuz i hate stayin w relatives in the bronx. It all adds up. But im assuming WAR41 meant those in NYC...

Has Pitman ever done a DJ "afterparty" set after the show? That makes it sound like band members could be coming out to hang out. I would bring something to get signed just in case.

The last time GNR played Brooklyn? L'amour. Long before the hipsters took over.

Plenty of tickets on stubhub and eBay...it's rotten how so e took away the opportunity for real fans to buy tickets just to make a few extra bucks..after fees the stub hub people really aren't making much if anything..I applaud GN'R for waiting until the last minute to avoid a scalper onslaught...

I might be completely wrong... but I would think GNR has very little to do with setting the price for a night like this

the venue usually charges 10 bux cover charge to get in on a random Thursday to see see whatever local band is playing

GNR dont set our tix price, but they have set amount of money they demand per show. The venue sets "our" tix price according to what the band/artist charges them. Obviously to pay them and make a profit. A friend of mine is a promoter here in RI and ive seen him negotiate deals. There was this spanish singer tht ask for 40k. So he set the price for $40/tix. The place holds 1500. So in tix alone it was $60k. Plus drinks n stuff... He made 15k tht night.

Basically my girl is sick and gotta look after our kids. But enjoy the show. The smallest venue ive been to for a GNR is the "Ritz" last February. But this one is like playing Mardis Gras in Cranston!!!! UNREAL!!!!

For me, it's a work night and the cost. If they were playing in Manhattan or the Barclay Center  and it was  a bit cheaper then I would go. However, that's not the case.  That's an easy $250 night if not more considering tickets, parking and tolls (NJ Transit stops running at 1am), dinner, and a beer or two.  At this stage of my life, I have other priorities other than GNR (despite the fact that I would like to go).

For those going, have fun! I'm glad to say that at least I started this thread.

Nice setlist, cool how they've adapted it to a more intimate feel and shorter show. Opening with Your Crazy is a must at these types of shows.  :D

Great show..a total experience to catch a top notch band in a 600 person capacity club err bowling alley!! The UCP show was better but this was still incredible!! I'd do it again in a second..I almost feel,although it was $150.00, this was GNR being gracious a giving the fans a treat..

Yes, during KOHD he announced he was suffering 'truck stop revenge' and it was all he could do not to throw up during the song.  Earlier he said he had the shits just before getting there.  He mentioned it again later and apologized for shortening the show.  No matter-it rocked, we were Right in front , shook hands, got pics, touched guitars!  Great time!!  Wife driving us home now.  Fucking work awaits.....

Words cannot describe how magical last night's show was. I arrived at the show at 8pm wearing an outfit that Paris Hilton would love. People in line were looking at me like I was really weird. That made me happy cuz I figured I wouldn't have to worry about any more stalkers. Although some guys I  met after the show said that logic could have easily backfired and just led to more stalkers. :hihi:

I could not believe how close we were to the band. Axl was gorgeous and hit every note. Dj's swarvoski crystal covered guitar was magical. Bitty Ted rocked the night away. he was so hot that Tommy wanted me to give him to Axl, but Bitty Ted is my baby and we cannot be separated. That would be like trying to keep Bella and Edward apart in TWILIGHT, :hihi:

The only bad thing was that alot of the security people were obnoxious. They wouldn't let sexkitten in because they said she was too fucked up. What BS.  If any of you have had the good fortune to meet sexkitten she is one of the most stunningly beautiful women that you will meet in real life, and a total sweetheart. She said her fiancee saw the security guy give her ticket to his friend. That was just plain wrong! :rant:

Oh my God that is hysterical.  Why would you get that wasted before a show even starts, let alone before you even enter the venue.  I don't think I've done that since I was 17.  Well at least sexkitten and her fiancee donated $300 to Axl.  She should at least be happy about that!

How could he stop himself from throwing up, not something you can control.  ???  How horrible to feel like that but still get up & sing & move around, kudos to him & hope he's feeling heaps better. Maybe needs to take enough home cooked meals when on the road rather than buy from dodgy places  :-\

The show was amazing. Might be my favorite show so far. My first show ever they did not open with WTTJ or CD. Pretty cool to hear You're Crazy first and since it was not listed on the set list. Nice to meet a lot of you in line and inside. Another great time.  : ok:

Here staying with Sexkitten; just to let you all know, she is doing well. Yes she was f***ed up but she is back under control now and being well looked after. We are looking into rehab options.

The show was amazing. To see the band like that up close was an unforgettable experience. The venue was super cool, not quite sure what to expect from tonight's show with the line up and vibe but if anyone else is in town and wants to grab a pre show beer drop us a line.

I for one support security guards for keeping unwanted elements out of venues.  Bottom line is that if some one gets hurt or hurts some one else, it doesn't matter if the attendee funneled a gallon of vodka in the street before walking into the venue, the venue is still responsible.  In today's lawsuit happy society you need to watch your own back.  I am sure sexkitten is a nice person when sober, but she was clearly very intoxicated while trying to enter the venue.  

Nah, those security guards at the venue were just douchebags. They weren't very nice to me either and I had no alcohol that night. I wanted to call a car from the service that my hotel used but it was raining. The guys at the door made me feel so unwelcome that i just hopped into the first cab i saw. BIG MISTAKE. The driver did not know how to get to the hotel and we drove around lost. He refused to call his dispatcher. I was having a mini nervous breakdown cuz I thought he was going to leave me in the middle of the street somewhere. Fortunately I remembered a street near the hotel and when I had him drop me off I was able to find it.

I urge all the fans to please be safe when attending these concerts.  You do not have to abuse alcohol to enjoy what should be a tremendous concert.  Let the music being your escape from reality not alcohol or drugs.   

The only time I felt my safety was threatend was when that stalker followed me from Southfork to the Dallas HOB show and that cab driver in Brooklyn couldn't find my hotel.

You are 110% correct Siamese.  I never understood the need to get blitzed to enjoy what should already be an incredible experience whether its GNR or someone else.  Here's to hoping sexkitten gets the help she needs

Agree 100%, out of all the times I've seen this band live I've only drank before on a few accasions and even then I've watched my limit. Getting too wasted can get you into a dreamlike state where it's impossible to pay attention to the great details you should appreciate at a GN'R show. Actually the last time I saw GN'R was in Paris last year and it was my 30th show, and I drank before the show and ended up getting to the venue just as the band was going on, we're as I usually like to check out the opener as well. Luckily I got a taxi and managed to get there just in time, was having too much fun drinking in Paris!!!...  :hihi:

Think about this too:  20 years from now you think about seeing Axl in 2013.  Do you want a vivid memory, or do you want the memory to be a blur??  There will never be another Axl Rose.

Well said, Lumen.  :) It was such a great show. I did not want it to end.  :beer: It was amazing be in the front without the stage barriers in the way and security guards in the way. 

Yes it was incredible w/out barricades..I was constantly dodging feet while leaning on the front risers..

I had DJ practically on top of me at the end when doing PC. left side of the stage that was awesome!

I think no matter how many arena shows you see from GN'R, there's always something special about a show as small as these. It's like the guys are playing in your front room, a cool treat for the fans. I still love thinking about the London Hammersmith and Las Vegas Joint shows I saw in 2006. I wonder what members of the band feel?, wonder if they prefer intimate shows over full arena dates?.

i was at all three"initmate" shows in NYC last year... and those are very special....

but the 4 Hammerstein shows in New york were even better than those

but the best of all that ive been able to attend was the MSG show of the first "new gnr" tour

that crowd was so electric ...place was packed... theres something about being in a crow of 16 thousand people going nuts.....

Unfortunately i was only 10 years old back in the days of the Illusion tour.

This concert was unique not just for the capacity, 600, but also for the no frills stage..There was no jumbotron,pyro,ramps,  risers, BARICADES or confetti and stage lighting was limited..Yet I feel privileged to have attended!!

This is soooo low and stupid. Not to mention it's totally out of contest. This should be banned. Period.

Regardless of some of these strange posts it was quite the memorable show..Loved Axl's response to the club not being what he expected when he signed on...

It really was a memorable show. I don't think anyone really know what to expect at this show even the band. It was a great time and hope to see them again one day in a small club.

When out side in line they have a sign for the Brooklyn Bowl and also the Brooklyn Brewery. Funny how a few people were in line for 30mins or more till they noticed the line was not for the brewery tour.  :hihi:     

Seeing them recently in clubs during the Hammersmith shows and UCP this club was even more intimate...Not even barricades seperating the crowd from the stage...

TIL was one of the CD songs that over time grew on me...My new found interest in tact I figured it would be a tough song to pull off live due to raged vocals accompanied by  more sentiment lyrics and music..But after hearing it live I was blown away..Following is a review of it from the Brooklyn Bowl Show.. It's an Lmost perfect summary of the CD and live versions.

Of all the massive hits they played on that stage, the most important Rose moment was during the comparatively quiet Chinese Democracy deep cut "This I Love." Without the bluster of his band, you could hear the voice of Axl Rose, 26 years past its breakthrough moment, almost unadorned. You could hear the cracks and faults of time, you could hear the moments of sheer perfection that never left, you could hear the Joplin-meets-alleycat mewl that it's hard to believe was somehow the voice of rock radio and MTV next to honey-dripped stuff like White Lion and INXS. You could hear Axl Rose, a guy who could headline a music festival if he was backed by a Discman and a sparkler. We overheard one dude saying, "Worth every penny.

This show has some of the best bootleg material..The "cameramans" view up front near Bumble is clear with a cool angle...

I was too excited to be there to try and film anything. I wish somebody had a vid of Tommy asking me to give Bitty Ted to Axl.

Doubtful because it appeared place remained open after the concert. :-)..Perhaps beforehand..

As far as I remember, they opened the lanes before the show. So people who had booked to play there came in before the GN'R show started....

Apparently Axl was a bit in the gutter..Still a great show!!

I get this mental image of Axl bowling in his full on stage gear, leather jacket with the studs in them, Ashba style jeans, cowboy hat...and a custom pair of bowling shoes to match the outfit.

either way, the videos from this sounds like an amazing time! axl sounded good and looks like a damn cool venue to see the band in.

It was a coop venue..total dive bar feel but not run down..vintage pictures hanging up and let's not forget about the giant ceiling fan possibly rattling dangerously loose with every high pitch scream..
