It't been a matter of debate for a while.  Most think it's legit but there are some who think otherwise.  As for why make a fake - money would be the main answer I suppose.  I personally think that it's real, and I know the seller's legit and a cool person.

Does the seller have any other cool stuff like that? Looks like the cd is already $70  :crying:

I remember when this CD first surfaced in 2007, and I believe it to be legit personally... interesting front cover as well, I think it is perfect.

It's legit. Until November 2011 though, Axl had never personally seen one until he had mine in his hands.

There are a few Better cd singles and I've seen many for sale on eBay. Havent picked one up myself yet, but plan to soon along with the Chinese Democracy singles.

Did he say anything about its authenticity?

I can't remember from which developing country I bought a fake GNR best hits whatever it was.

No offense to hose of you (including Mr. Redman, a friend), but I don't think on this one that we can say with any certainty that it's legit.  Just because the item is put in a band member's hand (even Axl's), and they don't tell you it's a boot, doesn't mean it's real.  Although that is still an awesome, incredible, you lucky motherfucker story for sure.  Let's look at the evidence.  Here are pics of the Chinese Democracy UK promo cd:

Why not a UK promo cd?  There's no law or anything saying there has to be, and there's not law saying that just because there wasn't an EU promo cd for Better or Chinese that there can't be one for SOD, but the layout and design is virtually identical!  And going with a picture disc?  Although the artwork is in the alternate release booklet.  Just odd is all I'm saying.  Please bear in mind here that I am just playing devil's advocate.  I personally believe it to be real, as mentioned already, I just don't think we should say definitely legit unless someone hears from someone at the record company directly. 

In the end, just like many other awesome collectibles, even if it is a boot, it don't mean that it's not an incredibly awesome item!  Good luck to all bidders!

never heard the radio edit of sod either. still seems legit

i had mixed feelings about it been a bootleg, but when i actually had a physical copy in my hand and compared it with Chinese Democracy and Better i realised it must be legit for sure.

it may very well be a fake for all i know but the quality of the inserts, print quality, markings on the disc etc are in my opinion too perfect for it to be fake

Thanks for this post trocooli, it's nice to see all these awesome CD singles in one place for once. Yes I can see how the SOD single is totally different to the Chinese Democracy and Better ones, but I'd still say it's legit.

I'm jealous of all you GN'R collectors out there, must be awesome to have all of this stuff.  :drool: I tend to save my money for live shows and other GN'R memorbilia.  :)

A few years ago, I've sent the info of this EU version to someone from Universal Holland (who got me the CD & Better promos) and according to him, it is official (and not for sale  ;) ). Unfortunately he didn't have a copy for me... So it's one of the few promos I don't have yet...

Cool to hear.  Can you ask them if there ever was an EU or Holland promo single for Better?  I know of the UK, US, and Australia version but not a Holland or EU release for that song.  Could you also ask them if this is legit:
