Title: Guns 'n' Roses to rock F1 post-race concert (Malaysian GP - March 24th, 2013) Post by: estebanf on January 29, 2013, 01:47:21 PM http://ecentral.my/news/story.asp?file=/2013/1/29/music/20130129175745&sec=music
IF there is one party to set your pulse racing, it is the Malaysian F1 Grand Prix 2013 post-race concert on March 24 in Sepang, Kuala Lumpur featuring legendary rock band Guns 'n' Roses. Formed in Los Angeles in 1985, Guns 'n' Roses will topline the post-race party and make it a rocking 15th anniversary celebration for the Malaysian F1 Grand Prix. It is also Guns 'n' Roses' first concert in Malaysia. The Grammy award-winning Guns 'n' Roses, which has sold more than 100 million albums worldwide, is best known for rock classics like 'Welcome To The Jungle', 'Sweet Child O' Mine', 'Paradise City', 'Patience', 'Don't Cry', 'Estranged' and 'November Rain'. The band, now led by frontman Axl Rose, 50, has kept its major hits on the current tour playlist as well as newer songs such as 'Chinese Democracy', 'Better and 'This I Love.' As the sole original member left in the band, Axl Rose is backed up by guitarists Ron 'Bumblefoot' Thal, DJ Ashba and Richard Fortus, bassist and backing vocalist Tommy Stinson, drummer Frank Ferrer and keyboardists and backing vocalists Dizzy Reed and Chris Pitman. Guns 'n' Roses was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last April. The band has included the Malaysian stop on March 24 as regional concert exclusive after its Australian tour in March. More details soon at (sepangcircuit.com). http://www.redcarpet.net.my/2013/01/guns-n-roses-u-kiss-to-rock-sepang-f1/ By Noorsila Abd Majid It?s better late than never. Legendary 90s rock band Guns N? Roses are set to rev up the Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix at the Sepang International Circuit (SIC) on March 24. Well loved for classic hits like Sweet Child O? Mine, November Rain and Welcome to the Jungle, the American rock band is still fronted by the charistmatic Axl Rose. Sadly, the reconstituted version of Guns N? Roses does not include former members Slash, Izzy Stradlin, Duff McKagan or Steven Adler. The big boys of hard rock parted ways 20 years ago due to bitter feuding ? which saw Rose refusing to join his former bandmates when Guns N? Roses were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April last year. ?So let sleeping dogs lie or lying dogs sleep or whatever. Time to move on. People get divorced. Life doesn?t owe you your own personal happy ending especially at another?s, or in this case several others?, expense,? the wild child of Guns N? Roses has infamously told the Associated Press. Over at the Petronas Twin Towers, Disney pop star Demi Lovato and K-pop biggie U-Kiss are set to keep the pre-race crowd happy with their sunny pop and nifty dance moves, under the Twin Towers @Live concert series on March 22 and 23, organised by Jojo Events. Already in its 15th year, the Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix is rewarding its loyal supporters with a One Ticket Unlimited (ITU) package this year. ?ITU is also a passport for additional privileges including premium packages for transportation with ERL or Skybus, F&B voucher, exclusive 15th years anniversary merchandise and additional discounts during the month-long 1Malaysia GP Sale 2013 for certain category of tickets,? said SIC chairman Datuk Mokhzani Mahathir at the official launch of the premier motor racing event in Esplanade KLCC on Tuesday night. With ITU, all grandstand ticket holders get to watch Guns N? Roses post-race concert for free. Hillstand ticket holders will have to add minimum RM120 to catch the must-watch rock act. The Sepang F1 is on from March 22 ? 24. For ticketing details, log on to www.sepangcircuit.com. Walk-in counters have also been set up in KL Sentral and KLCC till 24th March. Maybank Visa and Mastercard Debit or Credit card holders get 25% off. Students can purchase the wallet-friendly ?Buy 1 free 1 promotion? with Kad Diskaun Siswa 1Malaysia (KADS1M) for the Main Grandstand ticket of Topaz, Citrine, Tower North & Tower South from now until March 17th. Formula One Race A Key Contributor To Malaysia's Sports Industry http://www.bernama.com/bernama/v6/newssport.php?id=924831 KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 29 (Bernama) -- Hosting the Formula One (F1) race in Malaysia is one of the key contributors to the sports industry in the country, said Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek. "It not only brings in tourism dollars but also acts as a catalyst in tying together all aspects of the supply chain. "From the dedicated mechanics tweaking their customers' Proton engine for their next local race to major brands like Petronas, AirAsia and Naza leveraging on the sports marketability of the F1," said Ahmad Shabery in his speech at the official launch of the 2013 Petronas Malaysian F1 Grand Prix, Tuesday night. Malaysia will host the second round of the season's 20-leg FIA Formula One World Championship from March 22 to 24 at the Sepang Circuit. The new season opens with the Australian Grand Prix from March 15 to 17 at Albert Park in Melbourne. Also present at the ceremony were former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his wife, Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali; Mayor of Kuala Lumpur Datuk Ahmad Phesal Talib; Petronas president and CEO Tan Sri Shamsul Azhar Abas and Sepang International Circuit (SIC) chairman Datuk Mokhzani Tun Mahathir. He added that a study by PricewaterhouseCoopers Capital Sdn Bhd indicated that the 2011 Malaysian F1 Grand Prix generated total economic activity of approximately RM385 million, which means a return of about three times the government's investment in F1. At the ceremony, the race title sponsor, Petronas and the event promoter and organiser, SIC launched a special 'One Ticket Unlimited' (1TU) package to provide fans with a host of privileges for them to enjoy the event in March. Earlier, Mokhzani in his welcoming speech, said apart from being a passport for additional discounts at the 1Malaysia GP Sale 2013 in March, 1TU would also provide the ticket holders a host of other privileges to enjoy the 2013 event. With the special package, all the grandstand ticket holders will have access to the F1 after the race concert featuring the legendary rock band, Guns N Roses on March 24 for free. Meanwhile, those with the hillstand tickets will have to add minimum RM120 to catch the legendary rock band performance. "The 1TU is also a passport for additional privileges including premium packages for transportation with ERL or Skybus, F&B voucher, together with an exclusive 15th years anniversary merchandise as well as additional discounts during the month-long 1Malaysia GP Sale 2013 for certain category of tickets," said Mokhzani. Carrying a promotional theme of shop, party, race and more, Mokhzani said the 2013 Petronas Malaysian F1 Grand Prix will be an exhilarating affair of world-class racing, entertainment and parties and an unrivalled experience of shopping extravaganza, enjoying Malaysia's scenic beauty and tropical weather. -- BERNAMA Guns 'n' Roses to rock F1 post-race concert http://www.allvoices.com/news/13912569-11-guns-n-roses-to-rock-f1-postrace-concert 00 PM Updated: Tuesday January 29, 2013 MYT 5:58:20 PM Guns 'n' Roses to rock F1 post-race concert Guns 'n' Roses frontman Axl Rose geared up to rock the masses at the Malaysian F1 Grand Prix 2013 post-race party on March 24 Title: Re: Guns 'n' Roses to rock F1 post-race concert (Malaysian GP - March 24th, 2013) Post by: jarmo on January 29, 2013, 01:56:34 PM Awww shit. ;D

How fucking amazing. /jarmo Right on...To be working with a quality brand like F1 and in a country they have never played is amazing. The entertainment industry is certainly changing with strategic alliances between the music and the sports industry. Read some interesting articles in how some F1 tickets add value by offering a free GNR concert experience. Great for GNR and the F1. Win...win. There will be a massive crowd for sure. I would love to be there. I thought GNR would be heading to NZ after Oz but got that one wrong. I wonder if we will see concerts in Thailand, Singapore or possibly the Philippines shortly after. Yes, he went to the British GP before the show at the Download festival in 2006. Kimi's web site had some videos a few years ago that featured Chinese Democracy tracks. Kimi was also thanked in the Chinese Democracy booklet by Axl and Chris Pitman (who wore Kimi's helmet at the 2010 show in Helsinki, Finland). /jarmo Title: Re: Guns 'n' Roses to rock F1 post-race concert (Malaysian GP - March 24th, 2013) Post by: rebelhipi on January 30, 2013, 02:07:15 AM thats my kind of weekend!

I can't imagine how to send that much power to the ground, especially with such tetchy steering and hair trigger response. I'd probably run straight into a barrier before I got out of first.
