The 2013 Ultimate Classic Rock Bowl Finals have begun! After three weeks and 14 hard-fought battles ? with over 250,000 votes being registered in the semifinal round alone ? only two legendary bands are left to fight for the title: Guns N? Roses and Rush.

16 of rock?s biggest bands met up earlier this month in a series of single-elimination polls to determine the genre?s true champions. Each of our finalists has racked up an impressive string of victories. Rush dispatched Lynyrd Skynyrd, Aerosmith and most recently Van Halen (58 to 42%) in their three matches.

The thing is: Rush's official FB page has 1,7 million followers. GNR's has 19 million.

I don't think it's solely Rush fans voting. I think it's all the people who were pissed that we beat the Stones, Zeppelin, and the Beatles, haha. BUT, as far as hacking the site goes, Rush fans would be the ones to do it, since they listen to "intelligent music" and if you don't like them, you're just not "smart" enough.  :hihi:

Oh man, I love Tool.   But I agree with the sentiment - Rush fans are total nerds!  I only like Rush's first album (Working Man is one of my faves!), before they got all intellectual and clinical sounding.

Unless there is something wrong with the voting system,then yeah Rush is getting help from some of the defeated bands fans.

There is a lot of hate towards GNR on that site. My guess is people are voting against GNR out of spite rather than there love for Rush.

Rush sucks.  Other than Dream Theater, they might be the worst band ever at converting their musical talent(which they have loads of) into quality tunes.

We beat MAYBE the 3 most influential bands of all-time to get here and now we're losing to Rush... not taking anything away from Rush, but something isn't right here.

Yesterday for about 3 hrs I kept getting "your Vote has already been counted",  this was about the time inexplicably we got so behind, since then it seems to be working hrly again, I just thought it was weird. Classic Rock may have a vested interest for Rush , since they are going to HOF this yr?

Guaranteed GNR would be in the lead if the contest stayed fans of each band vs. fans of each band like the earlier rounds,and I bet they would have a sizeable lead.I'm still voting when I can because I doubt the people that jumped on the Rush bandwagon will stay consistent like when they voted for there favs earlier.The only problem could be at the end if its close and they get that surge of votes again.

I've heard this mentioned a few times on the local rock station.They also mention it on Sixx sense every week so its some positive press for Gnr and thats always nice.On a sidenote the co host on Sixx sense said she was seated with Bumblefoot at Namm and said he was a super nice guy and Nikki Sixx called him an amazing guitar player.

I personally think that one (or two) of the Rush fans, have found a way to rig the vote.

Remember how quick we lost all that percetage at the start of the vote, that's not normal I tell you. And even now, we've had two days of us catching them, and now we are suddenly losing ground again, and fast... don't make sense to me.

Yeah and keep in mind they were not even close in the tour of the year contest which would have had their same hardcore support voting.

Rush have posted 3 times on fb since the vote opened. Gnr only once.

One in a million - interesting theory, perhaps some people in business' or schools or some network that control multiple PC's is my guess.

It registers the IP-adress of the voter. So if you have many computers under one network, you only still can vote only once. But if you want to vote twice, you could use a proxy that changes your IP.

That's true, but I find it very strange how Rush gained almost ALL of the vote in the first day of the vote. And on top of that, the amount of fans GN'R has compared to Rush is not even funny... I honestly thought we beat the hardest band, when we beat The Beatles... compared to all of those other bands we beat, Rush are NOTHING.

We even have the casual music fan on our side, as Guns N' Roses are MUCH more well known and loved than Rush has ever been...

I think that we have a few geeky Rush fans on our hands, who (to their credit) have found a way to beat every band placed in their path... that's the truth guys.  :yes:

I think you're right.  I've been voting on 4 different devices and it's hard to believe that enough Rush fans are voting at the EXACT same time as me that the percentage for GNR goes down by 0.01% almost every time between my 2nd and 3rd votes.

I doubt what some of you are hinting. Remember, it makes us look pathetic if we start crying out about cheating and this being "rigged" when there's no proof of that. I too find it weird that Rush is our "rival" in this final, but hey, let's give their fans some cred.

I don't normally do things like this, but decided to support the band...I have voted 4 times on the same device...I think their software needs some work.  Glad GnR showed well, but this seems to be a test of who is willing to sit around and press a button multiple times rather than a valid poll.

Have been voting almost every hour on several computers and mobile, every day when it started. it went very well till yesterday.
You can vote each hour once but yesterday it says for two or three hours that my vote is already counted, couldn.t get thru.
and % wasn't climbing at all but it went down hill.

This is what I'm saying, it's obvious that 1 or two of the Rush fans have found out a way to keep their guys on top, WAY on top as well. A few people have said they can't name 1 Rush song, neither can I, and that's why I was saying that the casual music fan would vote for GN'R all day over Rush as well... so it doesn't add up.

I don't buy the argument about all of the other bands fans voting us down, because we beat The Beatles or Led Zeppelin. Come on, people have got lives to be living, they are not going to hang around this poll when their band is out, voting against the band who beat theirs... that's a REALLY stupid theory to be fair.  ::)

We won't win this poll, because if we had any chance, we would of been much closer (even winning) at the start... because we had the momentum of The Beatles win. Now it's becoming quite clear that we was never going to win, and Rush was going to win since round 1... open your eyes people, it's quite clear whats been happening.

God knows the fan in me has caused me to do things most people would find insane.

 These things are for fun,and actually they do help to bring some positive press to the band. When the press or radio report they don't get into details about how many times people can vote or whatever,they just bring up the contest announce the winner.It's free publicity.The only other thought I had regarding this final round"and call me crazy"is that the website itself is adjusting the vote to keep it a tight race. They could just look at the % of gnr votes in the earlier rounds to Rush and adjust it accordingly.IF gnr had 100,000 votes last round and Rush 20,000 they would know it wouldn't be close and it might open up on the last day.That would explain some of the voting problems people were reporting.SO thats my crazy nutjob theory,but hey you never know.See what happens in the last 24 hrs. :rofl:

It makes sense to me. The stones, zeppelin and the beatles are not active bands. Rush is an active touring and record releasing band. Their fans are dedicated and I bet the forums dedicated to the band is pushing this.

+ there are millions of fans like me, that don't really care for these kinds of things. I've voted once but I won't go on and on about something that does nothing for me. Oh what a bad fan I am  :P

Many bands or artists who aren't active still have active fan bases though. Michael Jackson has been dead for almost four years and I can assure you that us MJ fans are still active in everything involving him.

Ok, so GN'R posted this on their Facebook page again... but I was reading the comments and I can't believe how much hate some people have for this band. Why would you 'like' something on Facebook if you're just going to be a fucking cock sucker and talk shit about them? A lot of people in those comments have said they are voting for Rush.

It's the culture we live in. People would rather be negative than positive, whether it's politics or a gn'r message board, the majority of people that post frequently online are unhappy and feel compelled to express there negative feelings about just about anything in life to make themselves feel better.

The stones released "a bigger bang" in 2005 (compilations don't count) and toured 05-07.

Since then Rush has released 2 albums (in 2007 and 2012) and played over 200 shows on 3 tours.

All this according to wikipedia. I'm not a fan of either bands but I know Rush has millions of passionate fans.

Rolling Stones just released a new single and they're on tour now.

No they are not currently on tour, they did however play a few shows in late 2012.

No Rush is not only big in the US, I don't even know if they are big there. They're from Canada. I'm from Sweden.

Facebook means nothing in this. GN'R is a band with millions of casual fans. Rush is a band with a far smaller fan base but the average fan is probably more hardcore than the average GN'R fan.

If you like Sweet child o'mine you click on a button on facebook and there you go, you are a "fan". Most of those 20 million who likes GN'R on facebook don't give a shit about this.

I was just happy Led Zep and The Beatles were beaten because they're always at the top of lists. GNR and Rush had a nice fan battle going in the end. Dirk, Lerxst & Pratt had their"one little victory", or more GNR fans were just preoccupied watching Super Bowl.

Rush was a 70s band? Maybe that's when they began and 2112 put them on the map (although KISS did help build the Rush fanbase) , but their peak was in the 80s and went into digital overkill.

Next time round we need to vote against rush in the opening round  :yes:

I just thought with the massive difference between the 2 it really should have been more in our favour.

Because of this poll a friend dropped the book Ghost Rider on my desk.  It's by Rush's drummer.  His daughter and wife died.  He ends up leaving his life on his motorcycle for a long time traveling all over the continent.  Good story writer.  Little hard getting past page 6.
