Damn, their contest includes a spa package.  I'm getting the neighbor to enter that.  He can go gamble and I'll be at the spa.  We'll both have a good time.  :D  Will be a change for him, I think he's getting tired of the Grateful Dead channel.

I can record both shows on my Sirius Stilletto radio, but I have no idea how to share them, upload them, etc. I've tried before unsuccessfully. Sirius is supposed to have a program which allows you to access stored programs but it has never worked for me. If anyone has any ideas, I'd love to figure this out. Been trying for years.

I never used Sirius, but I guess the shows are stored somewhere on your device? It's not possible to export them? Maybe there's some info about this on Google. Maybe you need to try on a different computer/ system.

Yeah, it's weird.  I've never been able to figure it out.  I tried Sirius customer service and they were absolutely no help.  I can hook my radio up to my CPU with a USB cord and I can see the device, but I can't access anything from it.  The program from Sirius that I installed doesn't work properly.  I tried reinstalling it many times, but to no avail.  So basically the radio works properly in my car and as a portable device, but for whatever reason it doesn't seem to be compatible with any CPU I've tried it with.

I'll try and run a google search and see if I can come up with anything.  It is frustrating.  I tape The Howard Stern Show everyday and I'd love to just plug it in to my cpu and listen to it while I'm at home.  Instead I have to do all my listening in the car, and while I drive a lot for work, 15 hours a week adds up quick and is hard to stay on top of.

Is it indeed going to be soundboard?, or will it just be the radio station being given permission to transmit the sound they capture from the speakers?. I hope it is soundboard, as I really want to listen to a recent show with crystal clear sound.  :drool:

I originally thought this was for both shows this weekend, but after re-reading it looks like it's just tonight's show.  Do I have that right?

I see what I did now.  I read the 2 separate times for Eastern and Pacific on different days and mistakenly thought that meant they'd be airing both shows.  Problem solved.

I'm going to set my radio to tape.  Have they been going on pretty consistently at a certain time and ending at a certain time?  I can tape up to 6 hours, but I doubt I'll be awake for the bulk of the show so I'm just wondering what time would be the best to tape.  11-3 perhaps?  Although I might as well tape a full 6 hours just in case they decide to do a marathon.  Any chance they go on before 11 though? Or at least, have they come close in the other shows?  I know literally anything is possible in the land of GNR.  :peace:

So, a credit card is required, therefore, it's a bit too complicated to listen to in Europe. Plus you would have to cancel your subscription over the phone. That means you'd really need a US credit card and address and so on.

I plan too. Already did test to see how it would work and it recorded just fine recording the audio from my soundcard with software on my computer.

After you signup and get the email with your username and password don't just copy and paste it. It will say it doesn't exist. Physically type the password in. It took me a little while to figure out why it said my password was wrong.

Took about a minute and I'm online with a crystal clear sound from very very far away from Nevada.

At Wednesday's show, I think they went on at 10:45 PST.

It says the the show starts at 2am est on the channels website. So i would assume sometime around there.

That's 11pm though, a bit too late to start listening to?

Midnight pacific I'd assume.  I wonder how they'll broadcast this.  As in, what if Guns doesn't hit the stage right at 11 when they are supposed to start their coverage?  Which let's face it the chances of that are pretty good.

As a loyal Sirius subscriber for the last 6 years, this is awesome!  I basically listen exclusively to Stern, but this is one of the other great perks Sirius offers.  It's great for the uninterrupted music too.  I can't stand terrestrial radio with all the commercials.  It's maddeningly unlistenable to me.  Not to mention the wacky DJ's who think they're funny.  Thank god for Sirius.  Especially on nights like this.  Though I must say, I enjoyed The Boneyard more before Ozzy (or whoever) took over.  A little too much Ozzy/Black Sabbath for my taste.  Though again, that's all erased with them broadcasting the show tonight.

Surely they've got a plan and they are ready for the start whenever it is. They are just announcing some time for the sake of it.

I gotta agree with you on this,I know people complain about youtube vids,but even a good youtube recording gives a much better overall sense of the bands awesome live sound.

Sounds like a GOOD bootleg to me rather than the real deal. But could be my computer.

Well for example when the BBC broadcast live from Glastonbury or Reading festivals and I recorded it, it sounds very close to the quality of an officialy released 'live' cd (Live era for example)..This to my ear does not. It's not a big deal, I know nothing about the process of capturng live sound, I presume the BBC have a lot more money to invest.

Mine's not without glitches either. The damn stream stopped due to inactivity during Don't Cry and there's a small hiccup during patience. There can't be more than a few seconds from the whole show missing but still.

I'm uploading the recording right now. Sorry, but as a human being I need to sleep too. And the dED to split the recording into individual files and to correct some *glitches* took me some time.

The stream stopped a few seconds during SCOM due to inactivity, and had a 2/3 seconds blackout during Patience. I edited that with Adobe Audition and these things are almost unnoticeable now.

Hopefully faldor's recording doesn't have any inactivity stops. He was recording directly from a sirius radio and not from the internet like most of us were.

My recording isn't flawless either.  Nothing too bad, but there are a few minor issues.  The glitches on my end have to do with the reception going in and out.  It happens all the time, when I listen to taped shows of the Stern Show it cuts a few seconds here and there.  Again, nothing horrendous, but it isn't perfect.

Also, I have no idea how to copy it to my cpu in order to share.  I did a little research and came up empty on that subject.  Hopefully esteban's version is solid.  Sounds like he put a lot of work into it.  Thanks for that.

I didn't notice the inactivity during SCOM that some of you mentioned, though I could've missed it.  Was busy raking leaves while listening to the show, which I highly recommend.  :peace:

I think the inactivity only happened on the webstream. It stopped playing if you didn't touch the computer for a bit. No idea why it does that, kinda stupid if you ask me.

The only way you're going to be able to do it is by using a 3.5mm cable and software like audacity. You have to plug one end into the headphone jack on the radio and the other to the line in on your computer. There's a version also on gnrevolution. Its got skips but seems to pick up right where it left off. Remove the gaps with audacity and it should sound flawless.

I taped it straight off my Sirius radio and it sounded pretty damn good to me.  Maybe it sounded different online, or maybe I am easily impressed (quite possible).  But I thought the quality was quite good, and Axl and the band sounded quite good as well.

It sounded awesome live. Axl was on fire the whole night  :beer: :beer:
