Title: Appetite for Demolition on eBay - Who's side is correct?
Post by: RochesterRox19 on April 23, 2012, 06:07:49 PM
So I stumbled upon this item on eBay:

 http://www.ebay.com/itm/170829576659?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

Not having any knowledge on the piece being sold, I looked it up on Google and found this website that seems to be a vinyl bootleg database for GnR:

http://www.spookeend.nl/gnr/archives/appetite-for-demolition

So I got one guy telling me it's a literal demo, purchased from the band in 86 and worth upwards of $600. Then, I got someone else saying it's worth 50 bucks and came out possibly in 1988.

What's the real story on this?

Believe the "spookend" site he knows his stuff.  the seller on eBay is just adding "marketing/sales patter" to try and generate a higher price.

Reminds me of how back in the day, when we used to have these things called record stores, you would see all kinds of "for promotional use only" and "limited edition" things.

Not exactly official.

Obviously there are promotional singles and so on, but I'm talking about bootlegs having that kind of phrases on them. :)

It's just sad to me how people try to lie and completely rip off the uninformed.

it's sad to me how the uninformed are willing to drop so much money on something they aren't sure is real

spookend is spot on in his valuation , ive seen some copies with no number above the 500 and some with numbers , theres possibly about 4 may be 5 types of appetite for demolition available and none go for $600 , most go for under $50 lately but a numbered one does go for a bit more because it seems better !!
