Read that. The first part is stone roses but:

BAD boys of rock Guns N? Roses are making a rip-roaring UK return. A no-holds- barred tour kicks off in Nottingham on May 19 before wreaking havoc across Blighty.

Get tickets at aeglive. co.uk from March 2.

When I checked earlier this morning the seats being offered were rubbish; the block at the back corner.  I checked both Manchester and Liverpool.

And as has been said, as far as I know there is no presale code for the Amex seating option, although you do have to pay by Amex.  If you want Amex preferred seating, I think you have to enter the 11-digit 24-hr customer service line number.

The seats being offered arent great Back of block 110 and 108 for the O2, all others shows are a similar story. I got better seats in the general sale last time around and ended up selling my pre sale tickets.

08456005210 is the presale code. You MUST pay with American Express the site will accept no other form of payment

We have a 24 hour presale on all tickets, starting at 9am this Thursday (1st March) so that you can get your tickets before the general sale on Friday.

Blocks of seats are allready for sale on Viavigo... (they were exposed on Channel 4 for having 100's of credit cards and buying tickets a soon as they are released and making accounts with people's names from the office. they best not buy all the tix!!!)

Hope there is some seats left on Thursday, BTw is the planet rock presale for ALL cards? I think I did Planet Rock Last time round.
Dont know anyone with a AA card so this week is going to go slow with the wait till Thursday/Friday :(

Prices are ridiculous as ever. Fifty fucking quid. No wonder they can't sell some shows out at those prices.

Despite my complaints, I will however still stump up the cash.

So I just checked Ticketmaster and the AMEX presale gives me Floor Standing only - I think!

SectionFLOOR
Description NO UNDER 16S PERMITTED IN THE STANDING AREA
ENTRANCE F
Price Level 2
STANDING

Not bad - the missus has an AMEX card so tempted although not sure she will see anything as she's only 5'6". I was floor standing there in 2010 and is was awesome :)

I also see the O2 priority tickets go on sale on the 29th Feb

Good for you!

And some people rather choose Tesco's own ketchup over Heinz....  : ok:

You're still comparing a full arena production to something that's not...

It's like complaining that the cabs are expensive and taking the tube is cheaper.

Your idea of more value for money is a shorter set, less songs and a smaller production.

That's why the tickets cost less!

Oh and to the other guy, you clearly dont like axl so dont bother going to the show. Your the one who throws stuff or shouts "slassshhh" all night! Thus ruining it for everybody

I therefore love axl.

/jarmo

I'm not offended in the slightest, it just amuses me how you shoot down anything that you don't agree with and label it as a negative comment about the band. My comment was that ?50 is expensive; it's not exactly a fair price, especially when some people may have multiple tickets to buy. I am not using it against the band themselves; clearly they do not sit around and hold a discussion about ticket prices. But unfortunately they don't sell out every single show they put on and I imagine price has a lot to do with this.

Yes, arena shows clearly do cost more to produce than smaller venues, however my point was that I personally have enjoyed these smaller gigs considerably more than some of the large scalers. I have seen the new incarnation of Guns on numerous occasions and whilst I have enjoyed the shows, I merely pointed out that I had more fun at Slash's shows, which for the record included VR touring arenas.

Look Jarmo I know you're a devoted servant to Axl and the band

You took that as an insult? Dear me, grow up.

I'm glad you've had a fabulous times at other shows. Good for you.

Terminator has a point.

I'll be attending two GN'R shows, and I personally had more fun at the Guns show in 10' than I did any VR/Slash shows.

That said, ?50.00 is still expensive and it's not a valuation of the band that determines that conclusion.

Anything negative what-so-ever and Jarmo's on hand to bury you and your "pathetic" comment/opinion.

Completely agree with the Thin Lizzy comment. My first reaction as well.

Looks pretty cool, although I do like the white logo that was used recently, with the "GN'R" circular emblem.

Can't wait for the tour. I'm doing Manchester and then either Liverpool or Nottingham. Any thoughts on the best arena out of those two?

I'm definitely going to my hometown show which is Birmingham, and also Manchester. I'm going to try to make it to Glasgow as well, as the 2006 show was immense...

But I'm trying to focus on attending more EU shows this year, but will definitely try to make it to as many of the UK dates as I can.  ;D

Still. Is it GN'R specific?

You can complain that ?50 is too much.

Fair enough.

I still believe that discussion has very little to do with GN'R.

A band like Pearl Jam, with a very minimal production, is listed at ?44 and up for a gig in Manchester.

Anything negative what-so-ever and Jarmo's on hand to bury you and your "pathetic" comment/opinion.

Imagine that.

A thread about the first UK tour since 2010 turns into a thread about how tickets are too expensive.

Do you prefer people being excited about the shows or whining about ticket prices?

I'm sure every person who's buying a ticket could come up with a complaint about the concert before the show date if we asked them. I mean, maybe it's on the wrong weekday? Maybe the weather will suck? Maybe the venue isn't the person's favorite venue? Etc etc.

But is that really what you should focus on when your (alleged) favorite band is coming to your part of the world?

Don't worry, in about three months after the UK shows, you won't have to worry about high ticket prices for GN'R shows in the UK for a while.

Not at all, I'm telling you that if you aren't adult enough to see the comment for what it was then you need to pull your head from your backside and give it an airing.

As you might have noticed, the majority of people who post in this particular section, and in particular this thread, are the kind of people who are looking forward to the upcoming shows.

I too am looking forward to attending some shows, at no point have I said I'm not. I merely made a negative comment about the price of the tickets.

You just come across as the kind of guy who'd tell kids Santa doesn't exist because you seem the kinds excited for Christmas.  ;)

You just come across as the kind of guy who'd tell kids Santa doesn't exist because you seem the kinds excited for Christmas.  ;)

Again... grow up.

Maybe you need to start a discussion about ticket prices in The Jungle instead of trying to have one in the thread dedicated to GN'R's UK tour? Could be more constructive.

No thanks, I've made my comment and I've no interest in devoting a thread to the subject. If you feel the need to however, please do so.

Meh... Quit yer whinging.

While you're doing that, I'll be rocking Nottingham and Birmingham.

Wow, making indirect threats to ban me. That sure puts me in my place....

Banning someone for being full of themselves? Sounds like you just don't like people to have an opinion to me. This is a discussion board, people will converse around a range of different topics and move on. I thought you of all people Jarmo would know this having ran this website for so many years. People will not always agree with eachother, but that is the beauty of conversation, we can offer different arguments and agree or disagree as much as we like.

On here it seems as though nobody is allowed to have a negative comment or opinion on anything to do with the band. I get that you are very pro-GN'R, but everybody is allowed an opinion and whether or not you agree with it should not matter. If someone is slating the band for no good reason, by all means step in and defend them. However it feels as though on here it's your way or no way.

Unfortunately the only hint of democracy I can see on this board is the bands' last album.

Just said that your "act" seems familiar.

Banning someone for being full of themselves? Sounds like you just don't like people to have an opinion to me

Yeah, when somebody's so full of them self that a friendly suggestion from a moderator and/or administrator to stop the insults isn't respectec, then there'll be a problem.

Some people have a hard time with "taking orders".

It's pretty silly really. The person is a guest and the host tells him/her that he/she isn't acting in a proper way, and instead of changing their ways, they take it as an insult on their person....

I see this a lot.

"I don't take orders from someone like you." Blah blah blah.

Nothing to do with opinions.

A lot of people can express their opinion like adults.

Democracy? You go into somebody else's house and tell them about democracy. How you have the right to do as you wish.

Let me know how it goes.

I just hope my work doesn't screw me over.

However, I'm well pumped for this. Going to try and get Manc, Notts, newcastle and Glasgow. Possible London, if funds and the mrs doesn't kick off.

Yeah, ?50 is a bit steep considering 2010 was ?40, although its the beer tokens and travelling costs to each shows that really burn a whole in the pocket. if you are willing to pay for those, can't complain to much about and extra ?10.

As you'll see Jarmo, I have been a member of this board for nine years, albeit I tend to take long-term hiatuses from posting, so I hope you're not trying to allege that my "act" as you put it is linked to any other individual, past or present on this forum.

And I'm afraid to me it seems as though it has everything to do with opinions. If it wasn't, you'd respect my own personal comment regarding the ticket price, or at least agree to disagree on the matter. Hell, does it even matter that much? I'm not happy with the ticket price but I'll still buy one just so I can experience the band again.

I have a right to freedom of speech just as much as you or anybody else. Until I start becoming abusive and insulting [which thus far I have not, although you seem to have taken my comments in that way] then I seen no problem in voicing what I think.

Anyway I'm done with this now. As you've pointed out, we're ruining the thread for the others. Toys back in the pram now eh. ;)

Absoluted gutted not to be going this time, Even at ?50 per ticket, there are a whole host of other costs, hotel, ferry, time off work, car parking etc, etc that I just can't afford right now, but I will pass on a tip that will hopefully save some of you guys a few quid. Will certainly help you over-seas visiters.

Book and pay  your coach (or train) in advance @ http://uk.megabus.com/default.aspx and save a shed load of money, it has to be made with 40 days of travel, the sooner you do it the cheaper it gets  ;) this would be particularly good if you're travelling to various shows. You do have to print your ticket and show it, my daughter saw a bloke dropped off at a service station for not having his ticket and refusing to pay the full fair to continue his journey.

Oh and to the other guy, you clearly dont like axl so dont bother going to the show. Your the one who throws stuff or shouts "slassshhh" all night! Thus ruining it for everybody

I therefore love axl.

To anyone in london, can you get to kings cross if the show finishs at 12:20-25 (like last time) ?

last time around in london the tubes ran late, and not sure if it was true or not but rumour was that the gnr camp actually paid for that to happen so fans could get home.

Great news with the UK Tour,
does anyone know if there are any hotels in walking distance of the O2 Arena.
In 2010 all the trains had finished after gig and it was a nightmare,
Looking forward to it.
Any hotel suggestions welcomed.

I had the same problem last time - Waterloo was closed, ended up getting a ?110 taxi home :(

Nearest hotel I've found that seems ok is Holiday Inn Express - It's just down Millennium Way about 1 mile from the arena...and you get free breakfast. Booked yesterday for a double room = ?106

With that and Wagamamas by the Arena I'm sorted :)

In my experience, they don't offer good seats at presales. I've always assumed it's because they think that fans will buy anything in their panic to get a ticket. Try during the main sale on Friday but, sadly, I expect you'll find the best seats will pop up on the supposedly resale market within a few hours.

(I say 'supposedly resale' on purpose, as anyone who watched the Channel 4 Despatches programme last week will understand.).

Ya know, it has been said in the past by many people that it does in fact pay to wait until the general sale starts. Obviously you need to make sure you are there during the early part of the opening. But the best seats don't always end up on the pre-sale list, so wait and be patient.  :)

Saw the prices for the tour this morning, and were like 'Oh damn, I can't afford that!'. Then I remembered my parents had said if there are any gigs we want to go to they'd pay as birthday presents for me and my wife. When my wife called to talk about this, she was told they heard it advertised on the radio and were going to get us tickets anyway.

So, I'll be at the O2 Arena. Was pissed that I missed the shows in 2010 (other than Reading, which... well... y'know), and didn't want to miss them again.

Yes most presales are indeed the same, but I wasn't sure if I was required to be a member of planet rock or if I needed to text a number provided by planet rock to get a code etc. Some presales require you to have a certain credit card, or be a member of a certain network or something or another. I just wanted clarification on what exactly I needed to do.

And TBH, if you go to the website they still don't tell you exactly what to do. They just state how the presale starts on Thur at 9.00AM, but don't state where you have to go, or if you need to sign up to any kind of mailing list.

So I've registered on the site just incase, so I guess I'll just log in at 9.00AM and hope I can join in on the pre-sale.

Thanks for everyones advice though.  :)

And I don't think they need to add another 02 date to be honest, especially considering all of the other cities they are doing compared to 2010.  ;D

Think that it's almost certain that there'll be a second O2 date added. This tour is very similar to the 2006 one, except for swapping Liverpool for Sheffield.

Can someone just confirm I'm not mad! ;)

I booked the AMEX presale tickets on Tuesday which said they were floor standing and I've just logged in and checked TicketMaster. These do definitely sound floor standing don't they, even though they have seats and rows?

Section
FLOOR
Row71
Seats46 - 47

Yeah, I'm pretty sure they just have to print row/seat numbers to keep track of how many they've sold so they don't go over capacity.

I know there aren't seats in the standing section! Just wanted to make sure that I hadn't be conned into actual seats around the side of the arena as I don't recall ever seeing seat numbers on standing tickets before...I always go for standing, ever since my first concert...GnR @ Wembley '91  : ok:

I'm sitting in blk 101 because I'm old, my knees hurt to wait for Axl standing up and I'm a short arse.

Plus, When I've been on the floor at the o2 (McCartney and Prince), the sound has been terrible. Only place in there where there is poor sound quality.

What are peoples thoughts about another 02 show being added?. I personally don't think they will do another one this time around, as they have added alot more cities than last time. And I don't think they need to add another 02 date to be honest, especially considering all of the other cities they are doing compared to 2010.  ;D

Think that it's almost certain that there'll be a second O2 date added. This tour is very similar to the 2006 one, except for swapping Liverpool for Sheffield.

Cyllan, how are you my touring friend... ;D

Me and Cyllan always managed to bump into each other in Europe during the 2010 GN'R tour. We need to organise some serious pre-show meets for the UK shows and the European dates. Should be cool meeting back up again..... ;)

I never understood how these guest lists work. Each member has x amount the can invite, lets say 20, but chances are Dizzy reed doesn't know 20 people from newcastle... so do roadies just hand them out to their friends under a band members name? Someone explain.

Just because you don't use all your allocated comps for a show, doesn't mean tickets get handed out freely to the left and right.

A guest list is just what it sounds like. A list of the band's guests for the show.

And you're right in assuming that some shows have bigger lists than others.

The gigs would appear to be selling well. I couldn't get a ticket for the lower tier of the O2 seating and I tried to get better tickets for Manchester but most of the lower tier is sold out except the sections that face the stage at the back. I know some people on here really don't give a shit if the gigs are sold out or half full but I do, I like to think that plenty of people will go see this amazing band.

I searched for a single standing ticket at 1pm today, and I found out that all the standing tickets had sold out as well as the lower tier. So I've just had to go on getmein and pay double the price for 1 ticket... :hihi: So you could say that GN'R have sold out 95% of the 02 London in 4 hours or so.....

I've learnt my lesson now though, I need to be there at the start of the day and not pressume there will be tickets later. Paying double the price for a ticket, is getting off lightly really, I've seen standing tickets being sold for ?190 for one.....

A couple of people on gnr.com actually bought tickets to the june 1st show before it was removed. Looks like th 02 pre sale was better than the gnr.com sale, as it went on sale the same time as the rest of the ticket outlets. Guess we have to wait and see.

No refunds, the date has just dissapeared from the site. Can't believe the fan club did'nt have a pre sale for any of the UK  tickets.  I think the best thing to do is to wait for the 02 to announce the date and then use the 02 priority pre sale for tickets. PLus if you did'nt manage to get tickets for the first London show remember that nearer the time the venue always releases more tickets to buy, usually the good seats that were reserved just in case.

Often more tickets are released once the venue has figured out the final space requirements etc. for the stage and so on.

Then you might be able to fit more people on the floor and open more sections with seats.

Still no word on the 1st June 02 London date yet?... I'm not worried or anything because of those people who managed to buy tickets, and haven't had to refund them. I'm just going to book my travelling to London, and hotels with a mindset that the 1st June date is still going ahead.....

They must be really trying to target the first date, by trying to sell every single ticket before announcing the second show.  :-\

Well it makes no sense it being the day before as they would be doing 3 shows in a row, with Manchester being on the 29th. Also there is plenty of room in between the 31st and the Rotterdam show on the 4th June, for an extra 02 date on the 1st June.

Again, the second 02 show was actually put on sale for a few hours, before getting taken down. And it was listed for the 1st June, so the chances are really strong that it will indeed be on the 1st June.

Really, that sounds like they were going to contact all of the people who purchased anything to do with the extra date, to either confirm it or start the process of refunds etc. It's also not a good sign, that ticketmaster has no idea about the extra date, seeing as you would imagine they would know "something" about the idea of an extra show.

Either way, it would be really helpful to know whats happening...  :-X

Well everytime GN'R has toured the UK, they have always closed with 2 nights in London. In 2006, it was 2 nights at the Wembley Arena, and in 2010 it was 2 nights at the 02...

So there's no reason to think they won't do this again, especially with the 2nd date actually going on sale.

I just wish there was some clarrification, to help those people who are booking time off work, hotels and coaches n' stuff...  :)

Oh yes it was...

Totally forgot about GN'R's extra show at the Cuckoo Club, the night before the last show.......or was it the night after the first.

 :)

And regarding the the 02 dates in 2010, yes you got me again..... :o

The London 02 dates actually took place before the Birmingham and Manchester shows. So they were the first shows of the UK tour, obviously not counting the Reading and Leeds shows earlier in the year as well.  ;)

I don't think June 1st is going to be a show. I mean, I've just bought another Newcastle ticket, so the UK tour hasn't sold out.

The o2 has nearly sold out, but is it worth risking putting on an event for 22,000 the following day?  Maybe if it was Wembley Arena (12,000) or another smaller sized venue, but not the o2. I hope they do, but I can't see it.

That's what I mean, you've got people who have paid alot of money for VIP packages for the extra date. So if they knew for sure they was pulling it, they would have to let those people know as soon as possible.

As I said, they've got a few months left until the shows..... so my guess is that they are waiting, so that they sell as many tickets for the 31st show as possible. I'm not going to book a hotel until GN'R announces the extra date, and it goes on sale for everyone. So I just know that I'm going to be paying absolutely loads for a hotel around the 02 area, as it's even expensive at the present time.

That's why I just wish they announce it soon, because Canary Wharf and Greenwich is not the kind of place to find cheap accomadation as it is. Let alone, having to wait even longer because your not sure if your going to need 2 nights at a hotel or just the one.

Got my tickets for Newcastle & Birmingham... Can't wait (gutted to miss London this time though).

Does anybody have any idea how many VIP tickets tend to be sold on average? Only asking because I tend to get there early and wait around to get a great spot at the front, and I'm wondering how many VIPers will be in front of me (I'd go VIP myself but there's no way I can afford it at the moment!)

Can't wait to hear Estranged & Civil War!!!  ;D  I wonder if You're Crazy will stick around or if that's especially for the UCAP shows (I reckon it'll be dropped after UCAP... Seems like a smaller venue song... Hope I'm wrong...)

Personally I don't think there will be a June 1st date, You can still search for a maximum 6 tickets together and get block 416, which although upstairs are still fairly good seats. Also, when tickets get to the last 1000 or so, they tend to allow you to pick exactly where you want to sit using this map thingy.

I went both times to the o2 in 2010, and they curtained off the upper deck which is about 7,000 seats in the place. Seeing it wasn't 2 sellouts, it's only been a year and a half since we last saw them (most bands tour in 3 year cycles or more), and quite a few lesser fans weren't exactly happy to wait for Axl (on the 2nd night I saw a few people leave before he arrived!), I think it would be optimistic to think the numbers would call for a 2nd show.

Sorry, but just how I see it!  :(

The first night the top deck was definitely open, I remember looking up there and being amazing how high and steep it looked.  there were people literally dancing in the aisles and it looked really precarious!  I'm sure that was just the perspective I had from where I was though!

The second night was obviously less packed, and they may well have curtained off certain parts of the upper deck, but it was still at least 3/4 full - which for an added date in a 20,000 capacity venue is outstanding!

I'm sure the place doesn't have to be 100% sold out for them to consider a second show.

Think about it. If you only have the seats high up available, how many people will decide not to buy them because they don't wanna sit too far away from the stage?

So you put another date on sale and all those people now have the option of getting lower tier seats o standing tickets...

I just hope that people won' t be put off going to the second show, when it eventually get's announced. Simply because the gap between the announcement of the first show, and then the second would be so long, that people would have already made arrangements for hotels, travel etc.

If I'm not mistaken, in both cases of 2006 and 2010, the second London show was announced literally a few days after the tickets went on sale for the first. So people had the opportunity to make their plans based on the presumption that 2 shows were going ahead.

At the moment, only us the hardcore fans have an idea that it's a strong possibility that GN'R will add a second date, and that's only because we are "in the loop".... and seen it on the official site.

Casual fans might think that this time it's only 1 show at the 02, and book hotels and time off work based soley on the idea of one 02 show.

So I just hope GN'R don't leave it too long to announce it, as it could be counter-productive to the ticket sales for the 2nd date.  :-\

I don't think the majority of people who attend shows at the O2 need to make huge travel arrangements.

The London area is pretty huge...

Edit: It's not like a festival in the middle of nowhere where people have to travel from the outside...

It's a London area gig. Mainly aimed at people living in that area....

Yeah, I only live about 20 miles from London, so it isn't that much of a journey. Most people will be coming from Bedfordshire, Surrey and Essex. That's why so many people play London so often. It's got so many places surrounding it that it's really easy to get to from that the majority of the audience will not even be Londoners.

In most other cities in the UK, the audience will be primarily be people from that city, and that's it.

Still booked a room in the Travelodge that's literally just across the river from the O2, though. Because as close as we are, I'm still not expecting to be able to get home afterwards.

Personally, I think most people will only go to one show anyway, because ?50 per ticket is a lot for most people. They're not going to pay it twice.

Only way I could afford it is because the actual tickets were paid for by my parents for both mine and my wife's birthday present. Everything else (accomodation, train tickets, etc.) are being paid by me, obviously.

Just a tip for everyone who wants to go to the Manchester show but can't be arsed paying for hotels etc.....

This is what I do... catch a national express coach to Manchester Airport, probably going to cost you ?20-30. Then hang around the airport until you want to head to the show, I usually wait until around 7.00pm-7.30pm, then just catch a taxi straight to the show. Then after the show, catch a taxi straight back to the airport, and hang around the airport again, until early morning and catch the first coach back to your city.

This method, will cost you ?50-?80 max, baring in mind the taxi fares, but hey you've saved yourself a hotel bill right?.

The airport even has a cheap store, in the car park, kind of like a gas station shop..... so you can even avoid paying the airport prices for drinks, food etc.  :D

This is what I have done for the last 2 times GN'R have played the MEN arena, but this time I want to include attending the pre-party.....which we never seem to organise for Manchester. So this time we will have to think of a place to go, that's close to the arena, for a few pre-show drinks.

Just thought I'd say, there are three Travelodges close to the Manchester Arena and the rooms for the night of the Manchester show range from ?23.50-?25.50 for a twin/double. My other half and I managed to get in there before they noticed the show announcement and got a double for ?19. Sure, it's not luxury, but it's a place to stay for the night :D

Plus, adding travel from Middlesbrough and back by train, the whole thing is only costing us ?35 each, bargain!

Massively looking forward to 1st June in London. They were amazing last time at the O2, best gig of my life!

There aren't many cheap places to stay in London, so think we're going to get some beers and drink in the park after the show and catch the early train in the morning as we did last time. The adrenaline rush from the gig makes staying up all night easy!  :)

Victoria Coach Station is quite safe at night time, despite there being some oddballs about. There are usually alot of people resting on seats, and you will normally find a seat to sit on.

Avoid Victoria train station and especially avoid Kings X train station/area during the night. They are usually ok, but you are more likely to meet trouble there. An Eastern European older lady got her bag snatched in front of me years ago at Victoria train station about midnight. I was with her and the police, as I was a witness, for about four hours before I could go home.

Be careful on the tubes too. Alot of pickpockets, especially on busy trains. The pickpockets usually get on last with their arms wide open. If you can, keep your back to a wall if you are not seated. Keep wallets in your front trouser pockets, and never carry your credit cards. Buy a prepaid mastercard if you need to carry a card with you.

Rather than do London, we're going to Nottingham : it's a smaller venue, the town centre is walking distance everywhere, so no need to worry for cabs, and a hotel is barely ?50, which is what a cab home after the London show would be (and avoiding all the hassle). I'm taking my brother - he's never seen them in 25 years!

Going to three gigs on this tour, never done that for any band before but after Manchester in 2010, I couldn't bare to go to just the one gig so going to Nottingham, Birmingham and Manchester...come on... Rock n' fookin' roll!

See you down the front. ;D

Walking back to our hotel after the GN'R gig, I saw a guy pull another guy, who obviously wasn't sober, by his arms along the pedestrian street in central Nottingham....

What are peoples setlist predictions for this? Will there be some new songs? Any old songs that this line up has not played before? Any songs that should be dropped?
I myself am hoping they stick with the setlist they played on the up close and personal tour. I will be gutted if i don't get to hear Civil War and Estranged!

I'm satisfied with my total for this year so far... planning on going to Dublin, Nottingham, Newcastle, Birmingham, Manchester, Rotterdam and Paris... that's 7, not bad.

Regarding the setlist, yes I'm sure it will be very similar to recent ones. Which is fine by me, as I can't wait to hear Estranged and Civil War, but I still hope they start playing more CD stuff like Catcher, TWAT and Prostitute.  : ok:

If you wanna see the band in a smaller capacity arena: Nottingham, Liverpool

If you are driving to the Manchester gig, park outside the Sikh temple up the road and round the corner. Google it for details. It is a 5 minute walk, if that, from the arena.

It is free, and I have never had any problems there, and driving ot of Manchester is easy, you turn left at the end of the road and keep going towards the ring road

There are private pay parks further up the road if you want to use them. They are ok, but street parking on that road is completely fine at night time.

I'm planning to spend the day in Nottingham - any good stuff to occupy me and my friends before the gig?

There is indeed a hooters less than mile from the venue! Went there on a stag do last year. Nice place Nottingham.

Birmingham is a bit crap because the LG arena is by the airport and nowhere near any bars, pubs, etc....

Question:

Me n the missus are thinkin of upgrading to VIP for the Liverpool gig! That means we'll get 2 of all the merch but we'll only be keeping one set! Will a whole set of the merch be worth anything to sell towards funding the VIP upgrade before I go ahead n upgrade? Damn double dip recession!!!!!

I'd much prefer to keep all the merch but without tryin to sell one set we couldn't justify the upgrade!!

Cheers

I got a mail from ticketmaster today saying they are still waiting to recieve the GNR tickets for birmingham and nottingham. As soon as they do they will be posted out.  I was starting to worry. I bought tickets for the June 1st date, so it is def real. Luckily those tickets i am picking up at the venue on the day. They are leaving it late to post tickets out to people, but i'm sure they will be in our hands a few days before the shows.

I suppose it would go for something, people are always buying the guitar pics on ebay, sell it as one collection with the poster signed at the M&G, you'll get a small chunk of your money back I reckon. End of the day if they selling there services to you for they're meeting/photo/autographs, then there nothing morally wrong with listing it on ebay.

I'm going to Nottingham & Birmingham.

Edit... 1000 posts baby!!

On top of the places Jarmo mentioned, if any of you are fans of the more recent batman films, woolaton hall was used in the filming of the dark knight rises, and the grounds around it are pretty cool. It's also not too far out from the city center.

For most shows, if you do not have physical tickets, you can pick up copies from the venue, as long as you keep proof of purchase.

Again like Manchester, I have some tips for saving on hotels etc for Nottingham. I'm catching the train to Nottingham, then a taxi to the venue. But I'm not staying at a hotel after the show, I'm going to get a taxi to East Midlands airport, and then catch the first coach out to Birmingham the next morning.

It saves staying in a hotel for the night, and gets you back into your city early for the next day. This is a good tip for anyone wanting to attend mutliple shows and making quick connections between cities. National Express operate from East Midlands, and a coach isn't going to cost you alot at all...

And plus, it's a nice quiet place to chill out for the night, and you can even get sleep if you want, as East Midlands is not busy at all.  ;)

you're saying a taxi to the airport is going to save you money? if you actually are going to the airport straight after the gig, get a skylink bus, ?5 to the airport, instead of the ?30 odd you'd pay for a taxi.

Because almost nobody in the mainstream knows this band and its line up evolution. Simply as that.  The old line up become more legendary every year while new line up still have to "move on"...
You know, you'd need to put out some official videos, doing more interviews if you want to let people know about a "new" band which is the evolution of an old one which was a hard rock - mainstreaming band etc..

For example everybody still think about  Thin Lizzy = Phil Lynott or Alice in Chains = Layne staley, while those bands moved one years ago (in a good or bad way, it doesn't matter)

Anyway i think this kind of things aren't going to change

I'm still waiting for my Nottingham ticket from ticketmaster, and 2 x Birmingham tickets from eventim...

I'm hoping that this all gets sorted within the next week or so. This has got to be the latest I've ever experienced delivery for tickets, from genuine ticket companies.  :-[

I wonder why the tickets for this UK tour have been so late in getting printed, and sent out. In 2006 and 2010, I'm certain that tickets for the UK shows started to get sent out at least 6-8 weeks before showtime.  :P

It is just the way it works sometimes.

We saw The Killers, and got the tickets months before, but when we saw Tenacious D, and The Cult, we got the tickets less than ten days before the concert.

He's an interview with Dj Ashba prior to the Newcastle show.

Guns N' Roses Lead Guitarist DJ Ashba On Axl, Accents And Punctuality

Audio: http://tyneandwear.sky.com/events/video/19499

Fucking Media....... they said DJ replaced Slash WTF!!! he replaced Mr Finck, and why mention frikin slash anyway the
dumbfucks

Edit

1500 posts = Legend   : ok:

Media is lazy. They couldn't be bothered explaining to Mr Average that Slash left, then Paul, then Finck, then Bucket, then Ficnk added to a three-geetar, then Fortus joined, Bucket left, BUmble joined, Finck left, now Ashba...  They're just "Hey! This guy is Slash's replacement"..

I don't know what ticketmaster are playing at, but it's 12 days until the Nottingham show and still now sign of tickets being delivered yet. Same with eventim, still no sign of the Birmingham tickets being delivered yet, in my view this is getting to the point of being rediculous.

Anyone else having problems with this, or has anyone heard anything in regards to this matter.  ::)

I'm sure it will all come right in the end, but I've never known ticketmaster and other official outlets to be so damn slow in sending out tickets.

Rather oddly, even though I am not attending, I am looking forward to the Nottingham concert. It has always been a Rock City, and the people there are just pure rock fans, with no hidden agendas and they love to stay up all night, pure Axl style.  :smoking:

I think they quote seats as to allot numbers for the floor, an elf and safety thing.  Treated the same as if it was a ballet or other event where you would expect to be seated.

Theres a story on NME.com today about the potential setlist http://www.nme.com/news/guns-n-roses/63838 They obviously have not noticed that GN'R have been doing most of these songs for the last few years. I hate that Magazine, they are always negative about axl and the band. Any story they do on the band on the website always has a link to 'fans' reaction to the Reading Festival in 2010, which is a video of posh kids that have no idea about the band slagging them off. One of them even says that they are not the same now slash and 'DUFFY' are not in the band.

Daveh, doing the whole uk except Birmingham, lucky for me I have a tolerant girlfriend.

NME can go fuck themselves, they have had it in for GNR since reading/leeds. They need to get over themselves, not being funny but there is more talent in GNR than any of the shitty indie bands the report on.

Heh... Duffy. 27 year old singer from Wales.
To be fair, they have similar hair (ie: dyed blonde), but she is more like what NME readers would be into than GN'R. Maybe they honestly think that Guns can do with some female crooning.

Bit concerned about Manchester. Just checked on Ticketmaster and you can still buy tickets in blocks 103 and 115, which are both really good seats.

Does this mean the bottom tier isnt even half full? (Never mind the upper tier)

I don't need it to be full, just full enough to avoid cancellation. And don't worry, I realise how dramatic that sounds.

Don't worry, I think the arena hold seats back and release them later, I think it will be at least 3/4 full. In 2010 it was about that. I'm off to Manchester too got some good seats and also going to Liverpool but got standing for that one.

The venue and ticketing companies hold back tickets even from general and VIP sales which they then release bit by bit closer to the date of the show.

thats how i got mine, block 102 3wk after general sale... i remember the same thing happening in 2010 so i held back in the hope of getting a decent seat.

Read duffs book, he talks about a specific hotel in london where he stays everyone he's in town, he mentioned he met Axl there.

Perhaps Axl always stays there too?

Good luck on your mission, but London is a VERY busy place.

I for one have noticed that people are generally MUCH more into the shows, compared to 2010. The difference is actually huge, and the amount of people who are rocking out to the likes of Better, Sorry, This I Love, Street Of Dreams is on comparrison now to the Appetite material.

Shows how far the band has come in a short time.  ;D

I got a theory about this.  The 2010 shows were an education into who and what Gn'R are today.  Chinese Democracy was probably off the radar for a significant number of the audience and once they heard the likes of TIL, CD, Better and SR, have since downloaded/spotifyed it and know these songs also.  2012 is seeing the benefits of this. Thanks to there being only one throwing incident has seen a decrease in the stopping of the show and as a whole the audience has "got" what the band is about and are generally tolerant of the late starts as when it does get going, they never want come down....

The stage door for the o2 is under the arena, it would be extremely difficult to get to it due to the amount of security the venue has. The outside to the arena where load in takes place is seperated by quite a large fence as well.

It's a shame modern arenas have been designed like this, but it does seem to be the way things are going nowdays.

are you telling me that i won't be able to get an autograph from axl ???

damn, now i gotta take my wire cutter and stun gun with me :/

It's always a possibility (as proven by other people). But it's always a very very slim possibility, even for those who manage it. ;)

I'm telling you that at the o2 it will be a lot more difficult than it would have been at the other venues on the tour. Of course it is possible, it's just at this venue it's highly unlikely.
