Title: Rap & Hip Hop Thread! Post by: CheapJon on February 26, 2012, 09:32:19 AM What's your favorites lately?
I've been listening a lot to Necro for the last year or so. One of the best records of 2011 was IMO Tyler, the Creator's - Goblin This is my "gettin up and getting shit done song" Necro - Creepy Crawl http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cNrMKoqrt9U it'd be cool to share some Rap playlists on spotify or somthin! I like Dre as well but as with GNR, I've stopped waiting for new music. guess it don't have to be lately :P Title: Re: Rap & Hip Hop Thread! Post by: Layne Staley's Sunglasses on February 28, 2012, 06:09:06 AM T.I. is the shit, too.
Title: Re: Rap & Hip Hop Thread! Post by: LongGoneDay on March 01, 2012, 12:08:31 PM Not lately, but the only records that stand the test of time for me are A Tribe Called Quest and early Nas.
Huge fan of Midnight Marauders, Low End Theory etc growing up. Still dig em. Loved NWA, Wu Tang, Method Man, KRS, GangStar... Listened to a lot of hip hop growing up, and it's good for laughs now and again, but for the most part it all sounds pretty cheesy to me now. Especially today's artists. Seems they'll give record deals to anyone these days. Haven't spun a Mos Def or Talib Kweli record in a long time, but I have a feeling some of their works would hold up. Really liked the Black Star record they did together back in the day. I'm old, so that's about as current as I get. Title: Re: Rap & Hip Hop Thread! Post by: CheapJon on March 02, 2012, 07:16:50 PM Garry, you're not hating on Dre anymore?

Naw I still hate on Dre for being a fake, but I can't deny the fact that he's a good rapper and an even better producer. Title: Re: Rap & Hip Hop Thread! Just browsed Wikipedia, there are some big name producers on board as well! Metacritic reviews are overwhelmingly positive - is the album that good? Title: Re: Rap & Hip Hop Thread! I guess so :P The songs are great. only negative thing for me is the amount of skits and talking. feels like it's on almost every song. at the same time it's there to tell the story since it's a concept record, so it works. bought it yesterday :smoking: Title: Re: Rap & Hip Hop Thread!
