I'm very suprised after the last time they played!

Guns 2 Roses just had an email asking us to play on the Dublin's River Liffey again prior to the GNR show same as we did in the summer of 2010 so looks like this concert is going ahead.  : ok:

Kinda ironic how this show pops up on Ticketmaster (http://bit.ly/GNR120517DUBtm) with no "we're working on getting the band here" news stories published months ahead....

Compared to the Polish gig that was "announced" quite a while ago.


It's like day and night.

I'm still a bit skeptical on it personally until I see tickets printed that is as i've not seen or heard anything official.
I'm only hoping the rest of their UK tour isn't gonna be in the month of May as thats our O2 Academy tour and GNR is one band I seriously doubt I will beat in the popularity stakes. hahahaha  :rofl:

I think aot of that is down to the venue itself and the organisers. Some just cant help starting rumours months ahead of gig and some only confirm when show is definite, like The O2. Who always seem to be able to keep things under raps.
Anyway hopefully it will be a great show. :beer:

This is the coolest thing Axl could do after what happened last time. Bringing the show back for the real fans! Hopefully we won't get any bottle hurlers this time. Looking forward to it!!

I have a feeling that Axl and GN'R want to put on an outstanding show to prove the media wrong in Dublin. Kind of like what happened at Download in 2006, I think they are going to turn it around and the crowd will be willing them on to rock the hell out the place.

Mate, don't worry about going by yourself..... That's what pre show meetings are all about, and it's just a way to talk about your love for GN'R. It's not a big deal, just turn up to the pre party, and have a drink and chances are you will come across other people who have just checked it out like yourself.

I've been to many GN'R shows alone, and sometimes it's actually better because you can do what you please. Whether it means going where you want on the floor, or just how you view the show, you can get more personal meaning if you experience the whole show individually.

As I said, I'll most likely be wearing a HTGTH shirt (if that's cool with jarmo,  :hihi:) and I'll post my FB nearer the time of the show. So if you see me, I will be glad to have a beer with a fellow fan.....love meeting fellow GN'R fans.  :)

Another legendary rock n' roll act has been added to the bill for Guns 'N' Roses upcoming gig at The O2. Thin Lizzy have been announced as support to Axl Rose and co. at the Dublin gig on 17th May.

The new Lizzy line-up is led by alumni Scott Gorham, Brian Downey and Darren Wharton and now includes the recent additions of Damon Johnson (formerly of Alice Cooper), bass player Marcus Mendoza (Whitesnake) with The Almighty's Ricky Warwick stepping in on vocal duties.

Guns 'N' Roses will surely be in a celebratory mood as the band are being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April and the Dublin gig will be 20 years and a day since the band played an electrifying set at Slane castle.

Tickets for the show are on sale now and are priced at ?64.50.

So compared to the 2010 show, we already have some big changes. There was only 1 support act in 2010, Danko Jones... where for this show there are 3, including a pretty big name one being Thin Lizzy.

I am only interested in GN'R, but will definitely turn up in the mindset to watch all openers too... should be a cool night, can't wait to fly to Dublin.  ;)

Jarmo did the Guinness factory tour, as per the diary. The smell was quite overwhelming when I went years ago. Guinness is better in Dublin though. I never drink it anywhere else, and I actually missed a flight at Dublin airport due to Guinness, and had to pay a premium to re-book a flight  :hihi:

Yes, I fly out from Birmingham Thursday morning, can't wait. I'm staying at the Clarion Dublin City Hotel, which is ?150 / 180Euros per night, but it's the cheapest hotel, I could find really close to the 02 and the river, all the others were way out of town.

At least I know I've got somewhere comfortable to chill out, after being "In The Jungle".  8)

The Guinness at the Guinness factory is actualy quite terrible for some reason. Go to a real pub in Dublin and get the good stuff. The free pint at the factory is shite.

For those who don't read Russian, the short version is that Axl was still in Moscow as of 16 May with a "small health" problem. Also something about his hip or thigh. Anyway, the article speculates that it probably is not serious and that the tour will continue.

He hurt his hip and his lips from falling of a table in russia. he'll be back on time for the dublin show.

Oh Axl you wonderful crazy fool, I love how you refuse to live by any other rules than those of your own choosing. As someone else on the wrong side of 50, you are an inspiration to me to keep on following my heart and ignore those who disapprove. Keep on dancing on those tables....but next time how about keeping a couple of young ladies on fielding duty in case you slip   ;)  ;D

It's normal procedure when you put the whole production up for the first time on a leg of the tour.


Moscow was a little bit different because the venue was more intimate than the ones on the rest of the tour.

Dunno if this has been posted but for those wondering Guns hit the stage at 10:20, and they were walkin off around 01:10, just under a 3 hour set.
Axl said something after playing TWAT that I couldnt make out maybe something about seeing how it would go. He was in great form even joked about the last time he played Dublin.
All in all amazing show band were on fire and Axl's voice was great. The crowd were good two. Axl definitly proved Dublin wrong with that show and Im looking forward now for everyone in the press to swallow all the shit they said about him n' the new lineup since they last played.
Thin Lizzy were great aswell, and Im not sayin that cause in biased :P.

I can see why they haven't played TWAT for a quite long time because it's so difficult song to sing for Axl (you can hear it from the video), but he does the best he can do here. Good playing from the whole band  :beer:

TWAT and Civil War is amazing. Really excited now for Liverpool & Manchester.

Just woke up in Dublin and can still remember every detail of the show. I was standing on DJ's side and Richard came over a few times, and I shouted every time "Yeah, Richard rocks". And he looks at me with the biggest smile on his face ever, love Richard, he keeps everything smooth.

well that was fun :hihi: I wouldnt even know were to start if I had to try and pick out some highlights but Civil War would be one.  I was about 2 meters back from the right of the stage, were DJ spent most of the night so I was able to get some decent pics.  I'll attach a few now but I won't get a chance to upload any more till sunday evening, I also have a couple minutes footage of WTTJ and Civil War which I'll maybe upload to youtube.

Just a funny note... I was at the barrier and the security were giving out amongst themselves over the length of the setlist obviously wanting to go home. One of them had the setlist in his pocket and before Nightrain looked at it n counted to his mates how many songs were left, counting something like five songs, not to happy haha.

Apparently Frank and Tommy ended up in the Gypsy Rose after, anybody know anything about this?

OK, I'm back in Birmingham after my flight from Dublin, and still can't get over this fantastic show. There Was A Time just outdid Estranged for me in terms of the WOW factor, absolutely legendary.  : ok:  :drool:

My eyes were on Ron all through his solo, and it was like the damn CD was playing, he got it SPOT ON.

I've seen GN'R 24 times now, and I rank this show easily in the top 5....... it was surperb.

A great city, and a GREAT show from Guns N' Roses.

Richard's new solo is amazing.

It is really similar to the original version, but DJ adds a different section here and there, there's some pretty cool bends in there. What amazed me was how much the other members of GN'R contribute to the backing music while DJ is playing, thought it was mostly a backing track, but Ron, Richard, Frank and Tommy are all contributing too. It is a really nice piece of music, and it has grown on me alot since hearing it at Rock In Rio. It was my first time hearing Mi Amor too, which makes it all the more cooler!!!...  :)

I loved hearing Tommy do Motivation too, was always one of my favourites of VGH. Tommy rocked last night as well, he really get's into the music and gets better all the time.  8)

I had PM'd Jarmo and asked him if he got a chance could he send us the setlist and he was nice enough to do it.  (It's posted a few pages back.) 

When Jarmo's setlist didn't match the one already posted, I sent him another PM asking if he could confirm that Better was played and Madagascar was not.  He did confirm this hence the...

He doesn't throw them, apparently he only uses one or two, I got that from Bumblefoot - he gave it to me before the show, Tommy had already put little holes in the pick, about 8 on each side, which he uses for some kind of playing technique

I just want to point out how fit and healthy all of the guys in GN'R are, they are quite the athletes. I stand there in amazement as I see all the guys dripping of sweat, but then they go harder and hit their guitars more and more. The heat up onstage as well must be pretty awesome, but again this must make the guys sweat like hell, and it's a testament how in shape all the bandmembers are.

And Axl is just insanely healthy, the way he runs and sings with that strong, raspy voice night after night, is a sight in itself. Let alone all of the factors mentioned like, show duration, heat, loudness of music (vibration waves), stamina, keeping vocals spot on etc. I'm sure Axl is like superhuman because he never stops, and you can tell just by looking at him in person with your own eyes, that he is toned and in GREAT physical fitness shape.

I can only dream at the moment, that one day I can be as healthy and fit as the band.  :)
