Title: Need help with Detroit recording!
Post by: russtcb on December 02, 2011, 03:32:34 PM
I'm really hoping one of the traders here can help me with my recording of Detroit from last night. I used a Zoom H1 recorder and got the whole show in .wav form. It's a tad low in volume but not too bad and I bet with some eq'ing, it could sound awesome.

Anyone here have any interest in trying to fix the volume and maybe eq'ing it? I can upload the whole show as one .wav file if so!

I offer myself to download the wav, raise it's volume, split into tracks, encode to FLAC, and re-upload here.

AWESOME! I had you in mind when I asked  ;D

I'll set the whole .wav to upload tonight and post a link in the morning to see if you can help  :)

The upload got interrupted over night (DAMN!) so I'm doing it again now. It's going to Megaupload at around 180k a second right now so as soon as it's done I'll post the link here.

SHIT! Megaupload fucked up again. It got about 35% into the upload and just gave an error. The file is 1.7gb, does anyone know where the best place to upload would be? I really wanna get this recording out to anyone who wants to hear it asap.

To be honest, the best thing you can do is RAR/ZIP the WAV file and split it into 2.

where it says ''split to volumes, bytes'' enter ''900 mb''. Then upload the 2 resulting files to megaupload (which has a limit of 1 gb per file).

or you can try uploading the untouched 1.7 gb to a place like depositfile.com where files are allowed up to 2gb.

OK awesome. Thank you very much for the help!  :D I'm archiving it into 2 files now then I'll get it up on Mega.

OK. I did what you said and it still only made it one file. The file is 800mb, so maybe WinRAR just compressed it that much?

In any case, here's the file on Megaupload:

Let me know if there's any problem with it and I'll be happy to try again.

downloading it :)

and yes, I thought about the possibility that RARing the file could make it smaller than 1 gb. RARing WAV files is a pretty much similar process than FLACing them. Both processes compress the files, but with the only difference (and this is the *magic* of FLACs) that you can *play* the resulting FLAC files without decoding them to WAV (the inverse process), and you cant do anything but *storing* the resulting RAR files.

gonna start working on it as soon as I finish downloading. thanks!

done. uploading now. there will be two versions:

- FLAC > 940 mb
- MP3 VBR [Helix] in maximum quality > 288 mb

The recording is good once you raise its volume. It saturates here and there, but its a more than good recording and its complete (what matter in the end...)

Will up the MP3 in a direct server and the FLAC at DIME (and then to the direct server too)
