Title: Greatest Hits Tops The 5 Million Mark. Post by: MR.BROWNSTONE on June 08, 2011, 03:39:22 PM Guns N' Roses' 2004 compilation Greatest Hits tops the 5 million mark in sales this week. It's the band's second album to reach this plateau. Its 1987 debut, Appetite For Destruction, has sold 5,082,000 copies since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking sales in 1991. (It sold millions more copies in its first four years of release.)

But I have say that I think it served it's purpose really well, and I definitely feel it made millions of more people GN'R fans around 2004-2006. : ok:

It depends on when in 1991 Soundscan started monitoring sales. The UYI's came out in september of 91 and could easily have sold a couple million a few weeks ahead.
