Post by: LIGuns on May 28, 2011, 11:38:05 AM Always loved hearing how GN'R were 1 of the only opening bands Aerosmith would watch from the side of the stage..N' how they openly talked about GN'R as the opening band being on the cover of Rolling Stone..
I wonder if GN'R influenced the sound N' song topics on PUMP.. Janie's Got a Gun is a dark tale about a girl, as is My Michelle... Monkey on My Back is about kicking drugs ala Mr. Brownstone N' is sang in a baritone voice that Steven Tyler rarely uses... It was also was darker N' sharper than Permanent Vacation and proceeding albums Living on the Edge, 9 Lives N' Just Push Play. bit o' a stretch, but it's been a slow news month... If any comparrisons can be made, I don't think there's any harm in admitting that Aerosmtih who were the veterans, were trying to put as much of GN'Rs style and vibe into their own music. Especially after they saw how Guns N' Roses just took off and exploded, leaving them the headliners, looking tired and generic....

Post by: Jdog0830 on May 31, 2011, 09:59:15 AM I think there was some influence of GN'R but I doubt that you can say that their classic songs like Janie's Got A Gun being on the album have anything to do with it. I dont know its just what I think.
