Title: Re: Macho Man Died!! Post by: GypsySoul on May 20, 2011, 08:03:35 PM Very sad news :'(
God bless his soul. RIP Title: Re: Macho Man Died!! Post by: gnr-4-ever on May 21, 2011, 03:52:43 AM Very bad news, I remember him as a kid when I watched wrestling. But then my brain developed and I became a 6 year old and stopped watching wrestling.
Title: Re: Macho Man Died!! Post by: Axl4Prez2004 on May 21, 2011, 11:56:52 AM Sad news...but a good reminder to all y'all out there. Don't do steroids.
Title: Re: Macho Man Died!! Post by: One.In.A.Million on May 21, 2011, 12:51:09 PM This is very sad news indeed, he was a legend in the wrestling world. ;)
I can't say I remember watching him as I started watching around the attitude era, and the invasion storyline. But I've obviously seen old clips of him and you can't say he wasn't one of the greats. Title: Re: Macho Man Died!! Post by: D on May 21, 2011, 06:27:27 PM Sad news...but a good reminder to all y'all out there. Don't do steroids. I think thats a bit unfair and jumping to conclusions. he was 58 years old. plenty of people that age or a bit younger have died of heart attacks. Im sure it contributed somewhat but definitely more factors went into play than just roids. Title: Re: Macho Man Died!! Im sure it contributed somewhat but definitely more factors went into play than just roids. Seriously? Fact: He died of a heart attack well earlier than the average. (from what I read, the average age for a man's first heart attack = 66) Randy was 58. Fact: The man did 'roids. Can I guarantee he died because of 'roids? Hell no. Is it "fair" to mention the fact he did steroids? and now he is dead too early? In the immortal words of Randy himself, "Ohh Yeeeah!" Title: Re: Macho Man Died!! Post by: Bodhi on May 22, 2011, 11:22:27 AM Very true Axl 4Prez, Is it possible steroids had something to do with it, sure. But it is never just steroids that kills these wrestlers, it is usually the long term effects of their lifestyle, hard drinking, coccaine, ridiculous amounts of travel, wear and tear on the body etc... I love how whenever a wrestler dies people are like "oh it was steroids" as if it was just steroids that killed them. It is always the combination of the steroids with the hard drugs/drinking. Rick Rude, Eddie Guerrero, Mr Perfect all had bad alchohol and coccaine problems.
Title: Re: Macho Man Died!! Post by: D on May 22, 2011, 12:16:54 PM Well, its way more than just steroids.
Cocaine which causes stenosis of the arteries, the lifestyle, travel, lack of sleep, super high protein/fat diet to maintain muscle mass, probably in excess of 300 to 400 grams of protein a day, roids def in there which raise cholesterol and can cause enlargement of heart, but also, we don't know his family history of CAD etc. so it is just too simple to say roids. Title: Re: Macho Man Died!! Post by: GeorgeSteele on May 23, 2011, 10:50:09 AM Sad news, definitely one of my favorites from back in the day, just never appreciated him beating the crap out of George the Animal Steele just because he had a crush on Miss Elizabeth. Title: Re: Macho Man Died!! Post by: Bridge on May 26, 2011, 02:28:15 AM Randy Savage was my favorite wrestler ever, so I am really upset by this.
I read the doctor's report.... Steroid talk is overrated and overblown, and always has been. The Wrestlemania VII match between Savage and Warrior is my all-time favorite wrestling match. Here is an emotional video interview that Ultimate Warrior just posted in which he shares some great memories of working with Randy over the years.... by far the best Savage tribute from a fellow wrestler thus far. http://www.wrestlezone.com/news/article/video-ultimate-warrior-speaks-on-macho-man-passing-130279 (http://www.wrestlezone.com/news/article/video-ultimate-warrior-speaks-on-macho-man-passing-130279) Title: Re: Macho Man Died!! Post by: GeorgeSteele on May 27, 2011, 09:39:56 AM ^He was probably misdiagnosed at first because the extent of the initial examination of Macho Man was raising then dropping his arm 3 times. Apparently, according to the coroner, he DID die of a heart attack. Or, more specifically, from coronary artery disease. Tox screen was generally clean...looks like he was on cough/cold medicine with codine (which would account for pretty much everything in the tox screen...even the doxylamine, which can be found in over the counter night time cold medicine), but otherwise had nothing remarkable going on. Title: Re: Macho Man Died!! Post by: tim_m on July 01, 2011, 04:12:56 PM That's sad. This is why its so important to get check ups regularly especially the older you get.
