Title: Franky Perez: 'I Was A Member Of Velvet Revolver For Six Months'
Post by: FunkyMonkey on February 10, 2011, 12:59:35 PM
From a recent interview with Franky Perez to Las Vegas Weekly:

Catching up with Franky Perez

Wed, Feb 9, 2011

On his stint as the singer in Velvet Revolver: When the first audition process came up for Velvet Revolver, I was introduced to Slash, and I wrote a couple of audition songs. They ended up loving it, and they brought me in. So I was an actual member of the band for probably a little less than six months. In those six months, we wrote, went in the studio, did a bunch of stuff. And for whatever reason, it just didn?t work out. Maybe I?m not the right singer for that band. Just because they consider me a good singer doesn?t mean I?m the right singer for that project.

I don't think I'll be classing him as VR's ex-singer just yet : ok:

He worked with Dave Kushner on DKFXP which is probably how Slash met him in the first place, and did a lot of work with Slash solo, sometimes things don't work out but if he was the new VR singer at the time and they had confidence in him they would have said so

I don't know about classifying him as VR's ex-singer.  But he says here he was an actual member of the band -- he thinks so anyway.

I think if we went by that account, there would be quite a few ex VR singers :hihi:. Just because you worked with a band in the studio for a while, it doesn't make you an ex member. So does that mean that the guy from Buckcherry is an ex member too?, because he also worked with VR for while back when the band formed.  ::)

Franky Perez is prob. VR's best option IMO.....I didn't realize he was the guy from System of a Down until recently.  I just hope its not Cory Taylor or Miles Kennedy....hope theres still a chance with Franky, too bad it didn't work out before.

Great response...you always bring it.   Better add Macy Gray to the list too lol

I'm glad they didn't go ahead with Frankie.
