i think it's kinda funny that he's looking for an investor.  seems to me like he should easily be able to afford to make an album!!!

the typical message to your bandmates when you want them to make a quick choice for a singer, right?

I think Slash and Duff know that Matt would drop that solo project like a bad habit if VR was gearing back up.

Does anyone have any info. on what this "new solo project" is all about?

From Matt Sorum:

Good day in the studio today. New project that is going to be sick

More good tunes for the new band project in Drac studios today. Most excited I've been about music in a long time.

Bandmates?

I think it's bandmate, meaning Slash.

Make no mistake, the future (or lack there of) of VR lies underneath the top hat -he's obviously the one who's been hesitant to move forward with a singer decision..

It's all getting abit silly and boring now, all of the VR members doing side projects.

I actually feel sorry for Matt more than the rest, as he is just acking to get back to work on VR as you could tell in that interview a few weeks ago. And if they are going to call it a day on VR, time to fuckin tell people.

VR were not that big of a band to begin with, so all of this stringing fans along who are waiting for a positive comment about VR, or anything is very unfortunate.

And also, I'd like to tell Slash that he needs to cut the crap and start working with Duff, Matt and Dave again. he seems to think he is God or something, the way he expects all of his bandmembers to wait for him in regards to VR.

Well, with Velvet Revolver not happening now, and I agree with what Falcon posted -- these "side projects' are "their projects."

@One.In.A.Million: Loaded is surtanly not crap that should be cut!!! Rather Loaded than VR

Apart from that, I think Matt Sorums last solo effort gave us some good songs! No point in stressing the VR-thing....

I don't believe Slash thinks he is God! And His solo work is not crap! And I don't think he cares what his VR bandmates are doing. And it is my guess that he does not expect them to wait around on him either.

Slash  is in a positive enviorment he likes working with Myles and his solo band. He has made it clear to his fans what his intentions are for the foreseeable future. If VR has a future it seems it will have to wait on Slash. I'm sure if his VR bandmates want to move on without him they can.

I think he's talking about the new project.  Regarding the project, the full quote is "we're being really quiet and mysterious, ya know. I'm not even the same guy in that band, I have a different name and everything. But I'm not going to say that yet."

It does seem a little strange.  But he said in the interview in this new band he has a new name and wears weird hats and a lot of makeup.  Then he posted that "meet Baron Von Storm" with a photo of him wearing a weird hat and a lot of makeup.

It will be interesting to see what type of project this turns out to be.

From an interview with Matt Sorum:

Guns N' Roses' Matt Sorum's Diamond Baby Releases Star-Studded Video Clip

features Jane Lynch, Juliette Lewis, Lemmy Kilmister, Verne Troyer

JULY 21, 2011

Guns N' Roses and Velvet Revolver drummer Matt Sorum has a new band ? and it's gotten off to a star-studded start. The band's first video, "The Last Rockstar," features Glee's Jane Lynch, actress Juliette Lewis, Mot?rhead frontman Lemmy Kilmister and actor Verne Troyer. (Watch below.)

"I called Verne Troyer and Lemmy and Juliette Lewis and Jane Lynch is my next-door neighbor, so I asked her to do it," Sorum says. "She?s so busy, she?s such a huge actress now, but then she said she?d love to do it because she?s never done a rock video or a music video. And when I told her she was going to play my butler, she was cool."

Diamond Baby has recorded a full album, which Sorum calls electro-rock. Sorum says the rest of the album is as visual and elaborate as "The Last Rockstar" and the band plans to use that theatricality in a variety of mediums. "We want to possibly do some graphic novel work and a digital game and all sorts of things we can do with an interesting concept. Visually we want to be very exciting, entertaining, over the top," he says.

Sorum has changed his name in Diamond Baby to Baron Von Storm. "My former name and my former musical background I probably couldn?t do as much. I wanted to kind of dabble in a different music area," he says. "So the rock side of me is the other name ? I really felt like more of a Ziggy Stardust kind of character with this."

There is currently no release date for the album, but the band is planning some things for fall, including possible tour dates.

I just watched meet the band ( on thier offical web site) and at the 1:30- 1:40 I couldn't help notice that ace moves just like Mr Scott Wieland. It was like watching Scott with a blond wig, even her pant suit reminded me of Scott.

I also watched the behinds the scene video and noticed  ace has zero  power in her voice to pull it off live.  I just wonder how long b/f matt and ace have a problem with Lisa "the Lover" and they give her the boot.

In all honesty I don't like ace at all. She has zero personality and comes across as such a flake. She's such a poser wannabe I just want to throw a cinder block at her.  Hell if she's the "Last rockstar" then there's little hope for rock music today.

Now in regards to the music I will say that some of it I heard is catchy. 80's techno rock is somewhat a guilty pleasure of mine.  But they got nothing on Christian Hansen & The Autistics, a local band here in Edmonton.

I really appreciate Matt's open-mindedness, readiness to take risks and creativity on this song. It is something truly fresh, modern, positively surprising. On the other hand it still bears some rock feeling in it and it's heavy in its own way. I liked this song a lot!

More from the Baron:

MATT SORUM On DIAMOND BABY: 'It's Time To Experiment And Have A Good Time Again' - July 28, 2011

The bands we remember are always sexy, dangerous, unpredictable, and wildly over the top. Electro-rock group DIAMOND BABY is all that and more. With their debut single, "The Last Rockstar", DIAMOND BABY are throwing the ultimate 21st century sonic soiree, and everyone is invited.

"The Last Rockstar" is quite the event. Sliding from a swaggering beat into seductive crooning, the tune resounds with an anthemic and propulsive prowess. The track officially hits iTunes in late August. However, DIAMOND BABY recently released the music video for the danceable "The Last Rockstar" online, and it immediately went viral racking up over 100,000 views in a few days.

With "Glee" star Jane Lynch, iconic actress Juliette Lewis, Verne Troyer, and MOT?RHEAD's Lemmy Kilmister showing up to the party, the video showcases DIAMOND BABY rocking in front of a packed crowd of gorgeous faces, while introducing each of the characters that make up the quintet.

There's Ace Of Diamonds (lead vocals), Lisa The Lover (keyboards), Duke Oz (guitar), Mr. Fitz (bass), and Baron Von Storm (a.k.a. Matt Sorum; drums). They're all an integral part of this elegantly entrancing electro rock bash.

"The whole concept of DIAMOND BABY is Studio 54 meets '80s decadence and New Wave," reveals Ace Of Diamonds. "We wanted to bring that glitz and glamour back. It's an experience."

That experience has already been lauded and shared online by the likes of Perez Hilton and Rolling Stone. However, it really comes to life on the group's forthcoming full-length album (exact release date to be announced).

Ace Of Diamonds goes on, "The undertone of everything is very sexy and celebratory. It's okay to escape into music. This is about accepting who you are and going for what you really want in life. You've got one shot, so take it, go for it."

DIAMOND BABY have certainly gone big on their debut tune, but with their larger-than-life alter egos and even larger theatrical panache, they're going to shine. "The visual aspect of the band is crucial," she adds. "Everyone has an alter ego, and it's all part of the show."

Von Storm echoes that sentiment, "It's time to experiment and have a good time again."

Matt Sorum Wants to Bring Back Rock Stars With Diamond Baby -- Interview

Posted on Aug 24th 2011

This is the first time I've ever played in a band under an alter ego, but to be honest, I wish I would have done it a long time ago because it would have saved me from a lot of trouble," laughs Matt Sorum. Noisecreep is on the phone with the Velvet Revolver and former Guns N' Roses drum master who is promoting Diamond Baby, the new band in which he plays under the stage name Baron Von Storm. Also featuring the sexed-up vocals of his wife Ace Harper [aka Ace of Diamonds], the quintet belt out the kind of high-energy dance rock that wouldn't sound out of place next to Blondie, T-Rex and Garbage, in your music collection.

"Diamond Baby has been a lot of fun for me because we've been able to experiment with a lot of different sounds and textures. Once we started working on the music, I hooked up with Lisa Harriton [aka Lisa the Lover] who used to play keyboards in the Smashing Pumpkins. She's got some vintage keyboards and they're sounding great on this new stuff. I've always loved groups like Depeche Mode and Ultravox, but I've never had the musical avenue to explore that kind of thing. In Diamond Baby we do some of that kind of stuff, but we also incorporate live drums, hard guitars and an overall rock feel that helps sets it apart from some of those '80s artists," says Sorum.

Diamond Baby's first single, a sleazy rave up that serves as the group's debut single and although the song has a strip club-ready groove to it, Sorum says the band's upcoming album will feature a variety of moods and textures. "The record's got everything from Kate Bush and Pink Floyd types of feel to King Crimson-like guitar stuff on it. Years ago I played with Tori Amos and we had EBow in some of the songs and on this Diamond Baby album, there's a little of that.

"It's not that I get sick of playing straight-up rock 'n' roll, but it's nice to be able to try all of these different things on this album. We didn't let anything get in the way of the experimentation. But it's all still really catchy and fun. I needed something else to challenge myself and Diamond Baby became that."

Diamond Baby recently released a video for 'The Last Rockstar' and from what Sorum is telling Noisecreep, shooting the thing was just as fun as it looked. "We sat around one night conceptualizing this party scene in our minds and that's when we came up with the alter egos. I said, "I want to be Baron Von Storm and have my two French bulldogs." So we did that [laughs]. I also wanted hot chicks dressed like military girls. A lot of times when I come up with music, I like to think of what the video would look like. I come from that '80s mindset where music videos were a lot of fun and bigger than life.

"Not enough rock bands are doing that right now with their videos. The only people doing that are rappers. They'll come up with a video before they even write the damn song [laughs]. In 'The Last Rockstar,' we ask the question, "Where are the rock stars?" Rock 'n' roll people don't even say that they're rock stars anymore. People like P!nk do it, but no one that's playing rock music does.

"When Maroon 5 comes out with a song called 'Moves Like Jagger' and I'm like, "Give me a break!" Diamond Baby, the band, and the video we made for 'The Last Rockstar' is in the spirit of what I think is missing right now in the rock world. We need our rock stars back."
