Title: 20 years for me-thanks Guns n Roses
Post by: Fingers on February 01, 2011, 07:08:05 PM
I first got into Guns n Roses when MTV showed the Rock in Rio 2 concert on MTV-I was 19 years old, and have been hooked ever since-just want to say thanks for 20 years-been to 5 GNR concerts, and numerous solo concerts by current and former members-some driving out of state to on my own-thanks, Axl and crew-I know this is a pointless thread, delete if you must, but just wanted to say this.

Its not pointless. We all have that moment when we were totally hooked on this band. For me I would say it was two things. Reading Axls first cover article in RollingStone. and seeing Live at The Ritz on MTV for the first time.

Not pointless at all.

We owe Gn'R a big thanks for what they have given us, and still does.
My "worst" period was when I was 14-15 and watched the UYIshows from Tokyo every single day. Three hours every day :)

still I listen to Chinese Democracy in full about every day, and im also thankfull to Axl for bringing in new talented members, as it has opened a whole new musical world to me, with their soloprojects :)

Similar experience here (in Belgium) ...

I was 9 years old, sitting next to a dude in the classroom who was mumbling "Take me down to the paradise city etc" he was doing that all day... at some point it was stuck in my head but still had no idea what he was mumbling about.

So I asked him and the next day he brought a small cassette player and played us the whole "AFD" record during class breaks.
That said... I was hooked and the same evening I went to the record store to buy the cassette (with mom of course) the rest is history... but ever since that moment my support has been unconditional !

Thank you GN'R and thank you Axl for sticking around !

Cheers...

i think it ended disco bringing real rock n roll back.and opened up a new eara of badass music.
down to the nitty gritty.
rocking us all out with welcome to the jungle.
makeing it clear the world can be a jungle out there.
the raw grassless abandondment was great, cause you never knew what would happen.
