Here Today... Gone To Hell!

Oprah is making her final season and ask people to suggest who they would like her to interview. Wouldn't it be cool if she got Axl in there? Most say I don't know much about the Oprah shows, other than they are huge and I think it would be great for Axl to tell his site of the story and great commercial for him.

Yes! Perhaps he can finally call her out on her weather-controlling powers which probably led to that stage collapsing last year.

I would love to see Axl do an in depth interview like that. But I'm not so sure she is the one that should do it. Still think Kurt Loder is the master of music interviews.

What's going on with all these get Axl on X show lately?  There is a Facebook page called We wanna see Axl on Larry King with people trying to rally this interview and make it happen.

I'd love to see Axl interview and lay it all out, but I think that billboard interview a couple years ago may be the best thing we ever get.  Axl doesn't like the camera we he isn't performing (and sometimes when he is, hello St Louis) and seems to prefer a printed interview where he has an open forum to address only the topics of his choosing and say what he wants without being interrupted.

I saw Mike Tyson on Larry King recently and Larry cut him off like crazy.  I know he's supposed to maintain control of the segment and try to prevent the person from rambling, but half of the time he's cutting them off before they have a chance to fully answer the question.

I wouldn't want to see Axl in that situation (neither would Larry, heh).

Yeah, I don't think Axl has the ability to do good press. That said, he used to be okay ; like in those cheesy Kurt Loder ones in the early 90's; he was very cool, calm collected and articulate. But in the brief seconds of sceen time he's had lately, he's been kinda awkward... I dont think he likes it. Like when he presented that award in 07, and even when they did that promo a few weeks ago..

I don't see this happening. I'm not that big of an Oprah fan. It would be cool to see Axl with Barbara Walters, on one of her specials, not the VIEW.

As much as I'd like to see an interview with Axl, I'm not sure Oprah would be my first choice.  But if he did appear on her show, I'd definitely watch -- especially the audience reaction. :)

60 Minutes would be better. More in depth.

If this was gonna happen, it would have happened maybe 10 years ago....  obviously Axl has no desire to throw himself to the "wolves" (i.e. media) so to speak.

I'm picturing Axl on stage answering a question designed to evoke a tearful response...mid-sentence, Axl is interrupted as Oprah shouts, "MAKEOVERRRRRRRRRR!!!!!"  The fashion police whisk Axl backstage, although this time the makeover episode ends differently.  A dozen fashion designers are found beaten down backstage...the last camera catches Axl slowly walking out the back door not looking back.

I guess some folks are seriously hard up for something to discuss here. You have seen how much press Axl has done in the last 15+ years right? He's not going on any of these fuckin shows.

And I know this may be a shock to some of you hardcore Axl fans :o........but Oprah's audience of middle aged women are probably not waiting on the edge of their seats for that Axl Rose interview.

A talk show is a talk show..could care-less which one he would go on too. Just would be cool to see some type of in depth interview. Piers morgan would be cool though.  :smoking:

If Axl was to do a TV interview, I'd much rather that it was with someone like Charlie Rose.

The questions are meaningful, the discussion is substantive and the point is to get the interviewees to have their say, not to create a scandalous or hollow hallmark moment.

I think Axl's a very engaging interview subject and the past interviews with Kurt Loder and the hangout session with Eddie Trunk etc. were all great. So I would love it if he did another long interview.

Although I know it would never happen, I would like a full length interview between Axl and Howard Stern. I'm torn between this because on one hand, I would like an interviewer who is more serious than Stern, and one that doesn't crack a joke every other second. But, I really dig the idea of Stern because he himself is a rocker, and he has lived that kind of lifestyle more than other standard tv personalities. As well as this, he goes back with GN'R from the beginning, so I'm thinking he would ask more relevant questions than say Conan, King, Oprah.

Other than him, the other obvious favourite is Kurt Loder.  ;)

We know he's been asked to come on, so that's a start. Axl seemed to have a great time on his radio show, hopefully he accepts for their next season (anyone know when that is anyway, the fall?).

If there is a album release later this year, the timing couldn't have been more perfect.

Yeah that would be a perfect scenario for everyone. I wonder why Axl hasn't taken them up on that offer because if my memory is right they love Axl a lot.

Getting Axl to do any kind of television interview is a challenge, but as one of the final guests of Oprah, he could really help with the current band's popularity. Would seem like a win/win for all involved.

The interviewer that would have been the one and only for Axl would have been Tom Snyder, on the Tomorrow show (late 70s/early 80s). Do yourself a favor-seek out the DVDs of the musical guests, AND especially seek out the jailhouse interview with Charles Manson on youtube. Too bad it would never happen now.

Given the style and nature of Axl and Guns N' Roses, such an interview must be hard-hitting, broad questioning, almost confrontational at times-much like a GNR album or concert. It also has to be live, on camera, not in print. Oprah you say? To what does her highness bring to the table in such respect of Axl? Soft questions, hand-wringing, weepy-sobbing. Let's all get warm and fuzzy and watch Axl sing "Kumbaya" for the finale.

MAYBE for a second choice would be Charlie Rose.

Forget that Oprah nonsense... We should get Axl on the Mark Hoppus show "Hoppus on Music",  He has already had Ozzy, Alice Cooper, Duff, Slash, Phil Collins, Rob Zombie and bunch of other big music names, past and present on the show.  Foo Fighters are on next week.

I think it's pretty great, and really what's the alternative these days?

It's a dying (or hurting at least) genre, and these guys are at least doing something to keep things going in the TV media. Really a relief to tune in to these guys among all the teen pop, reality r'n'b shit they're showing 99% of the time.

Not to sound negative, as nice as it would be to have Axl guest on one of these shows, the reality of it is, that is just not what Axl does, I think it would be completely strange to see Axl Rose sitting in a chair next to Oprah Winfrey, the way I see it is Axl is happy sharing his life with us threw his music and the real treat is a tour in your area, don't think he wants to be asked the same old tired quetions that have no real relevance to GNR today.

yeah also, what audience are we aiming for by getting him on Oprah?  White middle age housewives?

I like Axl in a lot of ways cause he doesn't do the norm. that helps make him unique and special so when he does talk, its a big deal and newsworthy. Same reasons i like Prince.

Yeah, and some complain about that. "He doesn't talk, whine whine whine". Others talk and talk and talk. Same things in interview after interview.

Many artists talk and do interviews because it's part of the game. They have that obligation.

It's unfortunate that some haven't learned anything from the past.

Axl has been selective regarding who he talks to, and when, for quite some time. It's nothing new.

And Ill be the first to admit, there have been times I have whined and have wished Axl would do this and this.. then i sit back, look at the current state of music and it snaps me back and makes me once again appreciate Axl for being real and not some corporate puppet.

Its easy to lose sight sometimes of what made me such a fan in the first place but I'll take someone authentic that maybe does some things I don't agree with, over someone fake who caters to me and everyone else.
