Title: I'll be the one to ask a nerd question...
Post by: SirTed on November 09, 2010, 01:31:03 PM
So, I'm a huge Rock Band fan. Obviously, a huge Guns fan as well. Playing Chinese on Rock Band 2 and now Rock Band 3 is a real thrill.

It goes without saying that Appetite for Destruction has to the # 1 most requested and desired album in the whole music / rhythm game genre. I'm not just saying that as a Guns fan, it just has to be. So, my question is, what do you think it would take for Axl to release AFD on Rock Band? What would be his reason for holding it out this long? Do you think he may have been turned off by the CD release (on RB)? A couple of other related questions:

Owning the rights to the name Guns n' Roses, does this give him absolute athority to release anything relating to AFD? I believe all song writting credits are to Guns n' Roses, not the individual on AFD, so would there be any other conflict with an ex band member or management? Basically, I'm asking if this comes down to Axl, and his want to pursue things like this, or if there are other factors I'm not thinking of. I realize they're touring, so I know they're busy, so you can spare me the smart ass remarks.

Last Question: This one is for fun. Let's say they made a Guns n' Roses Rock Band similar to the Beatles. What would you want included in the game? This is strictly a fantasy question, we don't need to worry about legalites for this one in paticular.

If it was up to me, I would love to create a game where the "original" members start out playing shows on the strip, etc. With really authentic Sunset venues like The Roxy, etc. Slowly as you progressed through the game, you could unlock newer members, newer songs and bigger badder venues as GNR became the biggest, coolest band in the world. All the way up to the current lineup, playing Chinese. I think that would be pretty fucking cool. Totally impossible, but cool. Any other Rock Band fans out there?

Hard to say as I think for AFD, Duff's and Slash's permission is needed and I think Axl rented his licensing rights to Sanctuary.
