I didn't get this email - was it sent direct from the o2 or ticket sellers?

I've been unable to open this link too.  However, if anyone needs to get back to Waterloo after the show, you can book a seat on the Thames Clippers catamaran (?6 one-way ticket).  It departs from the QEII pier outside the O2 and goes direct to Waterloo Pier.  The first one leaves 15 mins after the show finishes but you must book in advance.

If you're looking for somewhere to hang around until the tubes start running, Bar Italia in Frith Street, Soho is open 24 hours for coffee and paninis etc.

On further investigation, the Clipper service is only until 00:40 so if the show finishes after this time, it wont be running. Just paid too.....

For those stuck in East London, if its a good night (we seem to be having good weather at the moment) then a walk back into central London, along the river will probably be quite nice.

That's ok yes, but don't take it as fact.

I paid ?25 from St Pancras to Victoria (which is much closer than the 02), when the tube was down the other weekend, after I came back from Lille. So you have to factor in traffic, and other stuff.

I am planning on getting the district line to Westminster from Victoria, then getting the Jubilee line to North Greenwich. And obviously you can reverse it for returning from the 02.


BUT just incase anything goes wrong with that first plan, I am bringing enough money for the taxi in the event it charges 30 or 40 pound for the trrip from Victoria to the 02.

You?re right this is only an indication f?r the real price for a taxi.

But  I guess you can?t catch any tube to return from O2 after the show.

If its after midnight, which it probably will be, it could end up costing you quite a bit more. I live 10 min from the O2 and in the past a Cab journey has ended up costing ?20 to ?30.

Whenever I use a cab to get home from a night out in central London it costs around ?50 to ?60 after midnight. Admittedly this is using a prepay cab account but I imagine it costs about the same for a standard fare.

I asked the taxi driver how much the journey would be from Pancras to Victoria, he said about 20 pounds. And as soon as I was inside the taxi with the doors locked, he informed me that it might be around 25 to 30 pounds now. I hate when that happens, and believe me they can alter the metre with just a touch, they know what they're doing.  ::)

As a note www.chinesedemocracy.com are using this as a meeting hole too.

I did not know about the enormous problems with taxi drivers in London.

It's a little ambiguous I agree because the e-mail from the O2 does say that it only runs until 0040, however the Thames Clipper site specifies that the first boat leaves 15 mins after the show ends.  I would hope that they'll show sense and run it later.

I wont be there till early eve tomorrow - so may not see people in the pub before hand - depends when people are heading into the venue??.  if its the same place pre-show for Thurs though - then I will!

02 told me today there will be buses, shuttles etc when the show ends - sounded very confident so we'll see.  Am happy to share a cab back to central london with like-minded folk if the need arises though. east london will not beat us!

On O2 event nights the 'special' O2 clipper runs till the vast majority of the crowd have gone. There is no finish time

Many London gig goers make use of public transport to avoid things like the Congestion Charge, traffic jams, spending money on fuel and price of parking. Also so they can have a drink.

The underground system usually has a last train around 00:00 and O2 said that tonight they would have them running until 1am so people can actually get home.

This was a problem a few years ago at the Hammersmith gig where many people left during the first few songs to get the last trains home.

It certainly was the problem at Hammersmith where they didn't finish until 1.15am - and thats why I'm not there now.

I was thinking about that possibility, but being from the US I have no idea how prevalent the use of public transportation is in London.

I can say that in my experience, I have never been to show with a curfew when it was indoors.  But, with the exception of NYC, most of the shows I've been to people have to drive to.

As for LG Arena, the NEC complex is right on the out skirts of Birmingham so public transport wont be an issue

I think they're an hour behind schedule, if those supposed start times posted on the previous page were legit.  Supposed to start at 8:40, they started at 9:40.  Not sure when exactly Baz went on and finished up though.  9:40 seems plenty early to me, though if the curfew is 11, they've only got an hour and 20 minutes to play.

Don't panic. It'll be fine.

Just got back, great show!

The band was on fire, Axl's voice was perfect. Sound at the O2 was a bit off in places, very muffled.

Funniest moment was when someone chucked a KFC bucket on stage, Axl picked it up and put it on his head and continued to sing!  :D

and to top it all off I was able to get the Tube home. Saved about ?50.... Bonus!

Back at my hotel after the show. Best I've heard gnr in the 4 shows I've seen. Axl sounded astounding, he was good at Leeds but tonight was something else! Shacklers was monsterous, and I'm pretty sure I heard them doing twat in the soundcheck from queuing outside, sounded pretty special. I can't explain how happy I'd be if they play it tomorrow lol. The kfc moment was pretty funny, axl took a couple of looks at the bucket like he was thinking "WTF?!?" before he put it on. The whole band seemed to hAve a great time, and I got an amazing spot at the front. Nice Boys was a highlight, but reAlly the whole show was one long highlight. I really can't praise Axl's voice highly enough, I Was Expecting good, we got great! Can't wait for tomorrows show! Will probs post my pix at the weekend when I get home

The show was amazing. The band sounded like a well oiled monster.

How long did they play for?  What time did the show finish?  (just thinking about getting home afterwards!!)

On about 21:40 finished about 00:20....  Was a brilliant night, wish I could go tonight too.... Axl sounded great and it's the first time I can recall that he actually looked like he was enjoying himself, plenty of smiles...

What a great night! Great venue, great atmosphere, great setlist, great band!

High points included:

Baz's enthusiasm (and very nervous new guitarist  :D)
The big Dizzy chant before his solo
BBF drinking the drink that got thrown on stage and then fipping the bird  8) (I think there was only one drink thrown and I would put this down to excitement/enthusiasm more than anything negative)
Axl wearing the KFC bucket
The whole band looking like they were so happy to be there (and more than happy with the response they got)
The pyros during November Rain and PC

Shacklers, NR, WTTJ and Don't Cry were the best songs for me.

Really enjoyed last night - easily one of the best concerts I've been to (and I'm not just talking GNR concerts...)

Fantastic show- I think this was GNR proving to their critics that they aren't the image potrayed at Reading.

Best moment for me was Fortus (or possibly Ashba, I couldn't tell from the other side of the arena), Jumped from the stage to the disabled enclosure and did an improv meet and greet with the fans in wheelchairs. All this crap about the band doesn't care about the fans was laid to rest last night.

What a night! Queued up to get in the arena when the doors opened and managed to get a great spot near the front,and Baz came on pretty early. He was like a demon on stage, the energy he has is unbelievable! The place wasn't that full when he started, but looked almost full by the end of his set, and everyone seemed to be really into it and having a great time. A nice surprise was how long they played for, and the stuff off Angel Down rocks pretty hard live.
We were bracing ourselves for a long wait for GnR, but they came on pretty quickly (within an hour of Sebastian finishing I think). The first things I noticed were how great Axl and the band sounded. Fucking immense! From where I was standing there were no problems whatsoever with the sound. The setlist was brilliant, and it was good to hear Nice Boys, Shacklers and IRS. Everyone on stage seemed to be having a great time, and Axl looked very happy. He remarked upon how many people were there, and thanked everyone a few times. Axls voice is magnificent, and gave me goosebumps many times. My brother knew little about the band before we went in, but they won him over very quickly. Ashba was great interacting with the crowd, and Fortus and BBF were brilliant. The KFC bucket was hillarious! The heat from the pyro was pretty intense, so it must be boiling on stage when they go off! From what I could tell, the crowd loved the whole show.
In my view, the O2 was a good venue. Everything ran smoothly, and when the show was over we walked straight out onto one of the free shuttle buses they provided which took us to a train station, and we got the train into central London easily, and didn't have to pay. We then spent ages looking for some sort of 24 hour drinking establishment in central London but couldn't find anywhere, so ended up drinking cans of lager on a bench underneath the London Eye until the first train ran out of London this morning. Have just got home, very tired, but very happy. The best show I've ever been to, and one of the greatest nights of my life! Thank you GnR!

The guy in the pic was seated close to me, along with his mates dressed as Axl, Duff & Steven Adler, complete with wigs and inflatable guitars and drumsticks.... They drew quite a lot of attention... especially from the "safety steward" who took away Adler's drumsticks away.....  ::)

Well, what can I say amazing gig! From the 8 times I've seen them this was the best. Axl was in fantastic form. I was right down the front and it sounded and looked great. It was my friends and I who had the KFC bucket, which I used in the Kerrang video I did http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q0OTvKBqCug (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q0OTvKBqCug). So pleased Axl put it on and that I managed to get it back. So many highlights. Nice Boys, rocked. Can't wait for Birmingham & Manchester now!

After the show we stayed around the O2 for a bit and had a few beers until about 2-3am then got a taxi back to our hotel, sharing the ride with a couple of guys who'd been to the GN'R show, and they said:
"I guess you guys went to the aftershow meet and greet party too? that's why you're leaving the O2 so late?"
"no!! we just stayed around for a few beers, what meet and greet party?"
"the party organised by the guns n' roses forum, we met the band after the show"

anyone know anything about this? i'm guessing it was mygnr that organised it? i'm pretty bummed I missed that, would have loved to meet the guys - but it was an awesome show. wish i was going again tonight!

Worth a read I think, and a true insight into the casual fans perspective in my opinion.

Not sure half of his complaints should be directed at the band though - Perhaps the transport services should be the ones making people aware of their transport times.

Okay so reading the reviews I've realised that we had to leave on track 15/32..
That kinda sucks, either the train ties need to change or Guns can come on a little earlier..

Maybe when you have work the next day and a small child at home we should hang up our gig visiting days?
On a weekend fair enough, but on a week day seeing that it went in as long as it did has put a damp on this gig..
I'd still go again and expect the same but as a paying fan maybe I shouldnt?

There's not a lot I can add to the positive stuff other than from a observational point of view from the gods.

The moshing that was going on was wild, kinda sucks if your stuck around it and hate it but fuck, was that energetic and the bods who disappeared over the barrier, were they slung out, or sent to the back of the room  :hihi: Would love to see a "from the gods" video of Jungle, the place looked like an earthquake was going on, on a par with what I've seen from our Argentinian friends. :smoking:  

Axl was smiling loads and clearly out to have fun, as were the rest of the band.

Never heard a single "where's slash comment all evening, even from the many "suits" that were there, clearly knowledgeable crowd these days....

Frank was on fire, best drummer in the history of Nn'fR on that performance, cool that he wore the tee shirt of "Rock School" he visited this week.

Heads up to Axl in thanking TfL in making a late night possible, seems they made additional plans to counter-act any fans staying late instead of taking heed of their "official" advice (as if  :rofl: ) was back in the hotel (docklands Travelodge)  at 12:45 after seeing the whole of PC and taking 2 trains to get there... : ok:

Biggest moan, the drinkers who were forever getting up for a piss (why not use a bottle and dispose of it :o not drink as much beer and go for shorts instead.

All in all, the only time I've got to see a "show" of their own rather than at a festival, each time has been great for different reasons, this is the hands down best show on so many fronts.

Just as an also worth noting, I see Arnie's in town, a reunion tonight would be so special...

After listening to some of the clips on youtube from this show. I have to say this is the best I heard this band yet  :peace:

It was my 8th time seeing the band since 2002 and it was by far the best. I have been harsh in my criticism in the past, when I saw them in Bergen on the first night of this years Euro tour I was very disappointed but last night was amazing. Everyone was on a high after the gig. I'm still buzzing....Role on Sunday.

What an amazing show Axl and the guys were on top form.  Axl wore my scarf during Sweet Child O'Mine how cool is that?  It was placed on the Stage after wonder if he kept it?  A brill feeling!!! :love:

This was a superb set and my first time seeing Nice Boys live, such a great moment. At one point during the show some fan threw a KFC bucket onto the stage and Axl put it on his head. Ron was running around the stage and DJ and Richard were energetic as usual. Everything was just like a dream, really nice.

November rain was a highlight as it was such a heartfelt moment in the show, with TIL also. As I said I really thought that Guns would have a tough job to out do this show on the 14th, but they did.

An amazing 2 days for One.In.A.Million, next up Birmingham my home town.  :hihi:

Alright guys, sorry for bringing up an older thread but I was at this show and even though it was nearly a week ago now im still thinking about it.

I've been a fan of GNR since I was about 9 or 10 but never had the chance to go and see them before. The closest I ever got was watching the Channel 4 broadcast of a Paris show from the early 90's (which i still have a recorded and tucked away in the loft). My missus got me tickets for my birthday and I had mixed feelings about going. On the one hand I wanted to fulfill a dream and see/hear Axl live but on the other hand I couldnt help but think I would be let down (particualy after reading about Reading/Leeds). I decided to take my pal from school back then and we both had the same opinion after.

I'll hold my hands up and admit I was in the "original GNR rule" camp to the extent that I didnt even bother to buy Chinese Democracy when it came out! Again, my missus got this for me for my birthday and I had it on in the car for a couple of days before the show and was suprised at how good it was! This made me look forward to the show a little more.

I've seen a few acts over the past year that the "critics" seem to wank about and say how good they are. I had read loads of reviews about how good Kasabian were live and while I enjoyed them a lot, there is no doubt that thier album tracks are just that. I also saw Muse at Wembly about a month ago and despite them constantly being voted the best live act of the year I was more than a little bored during their show (There is only so much flashing lights and floating eyeballs can make up for a Twilight soundtrack). All this made me wonder if these same "critics" had been to GNR because they, without a doubt put on the best show I have ever seen!!

I am now a convert. Im no longer in "old GNR rule" but just plain old "GNR Rule". I can honestly say there was not one thing about the night I would have changed (apart from maybe Duff comming a day earlier). Axl was on top form and was as amazing as I was expecting and the rest of the band weren't the hired hands I had heard about but AWSOME musicians (Bumblefoot, what a Legend).

Not only did the old stuff sound great but the new songs were quality too with Better being my favourite song of the moment (I also thought Chinese Democracy was a great curtain opener). I cant tell you how long i've waited to sing along to Knockin' on Heavens Door and hear Axl screech out "shan-a-na-na-knees" on Welcome To the Jungle. I was dreading Sweet Child Of Mine (I do love Slash) but I think DJ did it justice and proved what a good g-tar player he is. Also, is there a better cover version that Live and Let Die?? I think not. It made me want to jump from my VIP seat into the crowd! Another highlight was defo the KFC bucket.

A lot of the complaints from the night seem to be about the late start/no transport. Ok, im lucky that I live only a 20 min drive from the 02 (and my missus was picking us up) but i still checked their website before and knew all about the extra transport so there is no excuse for anyone there really. And as for work the next day, I got to bed about 1.30am and had to be up at 6am! I drove in still drunk with Shanklers Revenge banging out.

If I could give one tiny bit of constructive critism it would be that on occasions the 3 guitars seemed to clash a little on the older material and I think DJ chould ditch the top hat. But thats just being picky.

I can now only hope that after this tour the guys get back in the studio and bang some new material out, then tour again before Axl gets to old! Next time i might even swap my comfy VIP standing to mix it with you hardcore rockers. Anyhow, sorry for boring you all with my life story but I just had to talk about such a great show!! A childhood dream has been achieved. Rock on.

p.s anyone else thing Axl looked a little like a ginger Mickey Rourke?

Great story man! Im glad you gave the new band (and the Chinese Democracy album) a chance to see just how good they are. : ok:

There is too much prejudice towards this band. If more people get through the bad press, Im sure the album and an eventual next leg of the tour will gain more interest.

Reading your message was like writing my own experiences with Guns N Roses, although I was slightly older (14).  The first time I heard of Guns N Roses was whilst watching the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert I was blown away by them and was a huge fan from that day on.  I also have a dusty copy of the Paris concert on VHS (Oh to have had Youtube back then!) My first concert was Milton Keynes, then London 2002, 2006 and 2010. 

I thought the Oct 13 O2 concert was amazing we managed to get 2 rows from the front and I had my scarf thrown on stage during Sweet Child O Mine which Axl picked up wore for a few minutes :love:.  I was blown away by Axl's voice, sounds just like it did back in the old days.  They looked like they were enjoying themselves and having fun on stage too.  Like you I'd listen to the old stuff with a few randoms listens to Chinese Democracy but now that CD is played in my car constantly!

Regarding the issue of old band members/new band members, I am just grateful that the music is still being played/made and to be able to go to a big arena and enjoy the vibe and energy that goes with it,regardless, I think all the new guys rock especially DJ, would be great if Slash, Duff etc were to return (or would it?!?) but, it is what it is!

I have been reading numerous reviews on the net re: the UK concerts and most of them are a pile of S*** focusing on their lateness coming on stage and the apperance of Axl (he is now a 48 year old, he aint gonna look like he did in his 20's).   I have started to skip past those bits and read the rest of the review about the music!

I really hope that one day they will come back to the UK so then my Son Billy will be old enough to come and see them with me who incidently was born on 6 Feb 2004, Axl's bday!  :o

Well I ended up writing more than I thought I would so Ill stop now.  But reading your message made me start to think about my experiences sorry if I have bored anyone!! :confused:

Josketch, funny you should mention that Freddy Murcury concert, i remember watching that with my dad! My mum moved recently and I found a taped copy in an old cudbord. I dont think it had even been watched since it was recorded! I do love the performance they gave there.

On another note i forgot to mention Rocket Queen. Underrated masterpiece!

Very old thread but cheers man! I never saw this post of yours! Yeh it was an amzing experience when they came to the rock school and meeting most the band at the VIP party was brilliant. All very nice guys! Managed to chat to DJ and Chris for about half an hour and they are just very cool and interesting guys! Also spent a good bit of time with Del and he knew all about our rock school which was very surreal! All in all a great couple of days and to top it off Ron keeps in touch which is very cool! Not sure what happened to all the pics I posted! Maybe I'l repost them!

At the VIP party DJ came in and we chatted for ages and shared a beer. He was very cool and was keen to know about the day before when Ron & Frank came to our rock school. Top man.

What a man! So cool and laid back! Again we chatted for a while and had a beer!

I last met band members at Milton Keynes in 1993 so this was a very cool experience and some seriously nice guys!

Look forward to it happening again!
