The show was just brilliant and I would say for me it was the best show I have been to this year, including Canada (Toronto). In terms of GN'R performing and crowd support, Paris is just unbeatable, the crowd was amazing. I met Cyllan also from the UK and we stood together until the lights went down, really nice lady and I'm glad I met her, made the experience even better, thanks. The show as stated was pure magic and I thought it was going to be hard to beat their show here in 2006, but I they did by miles. Chinese, Jungle, ISE and Brownstone was fast paced and rocking like usual. Axl stated at one point in the show that he was about to get arrested at the show in Paris in 2006 due to " having too much fun ". I'm glad we got to hear a great chunck of CD, like Sorry, Madagascar, Better, Shackler, This I Love and Street Of Dreams. Also want to add how wicked Shackler was, and most of the people around me knew the lyrics. Axl really put everything into this song and it was just immense, and Bumbles solo was spot on and sounded just like on the CD. The highlights for me was Whole Lotta Rosie and Don't Cry (Bumble). First time in 18 shows that I have had the pleasure of hearing GN'R perform Rosie, I used to listen to the Marquee version all the time, so this was a great bonus. What stood out at this show for me more than usual, is just how much these guys love each other. Just as This I Love was finishing and Ashba had done the solo, Bumble came over and put his arm around him, and I thought that was so heartfelt and I felt a tingling in my heart. Thank you to Paris, and most of all thank you to GN'R for delivering the best performance of this year for me. I will post more when I return to England which will be early Wed morning. : ok: Title: Re: September 13th, 2010 Paris, France (Discussion) Post by: babydolls on September 14, 2010, 07:20:43 AM great review ^ thank you. Hi O.I.A.M, thanks and it was great to meet you too - small world, eh! :D The show was amazing and the energy in the place electric. Axl was laughing and having as much fun as I've ever seen him have; his rapport with the other band members is a joy to watch. Oh and he's looking pretty good too these days... ;) It's impossible to single out anyone for extra praise because they all gel so well as a team now and yet everyone's allowed their individual moment to shine too. Suffice it to say, this band just keeps on improving and no-one deserves the audience appreciation more than they do. But with this another show your sig is already messing up for me when Im using the iPhone. (jk) :hihi: What can I do Voodoo eh. ;D About Axl during Street Of Dreams, yes I think he may have lost his footing. But as soon as he did it, he laughed and stayed on the floor until the end of the last chorus I believe. Axl was just joking, and having a good time. : ok: I love how DJ using a drumstick during the Madagascar solo, he looks so funny just tapping the drumstick against the strings, really looks cool as hell. Dizzys' solo was also another highlight for me as well, he makes complicated piano chords look so easy and effortless. Dizzy is really talented, and after his solo, the crowd gave him a really warm round of applause. :) I also have to comment on how great DJ is at moving around the stage, he was in front of me on my side of the stage for a while. Then he was back again 2 mins later, then back again and again. He really makes an effort with the fans, and for that I really know, he is the right guitarist to fill Robins' slot. Everyone was just on top form and I could go on forever. ;) I will upload my photos to my comp in the afternoon and see whether any are worth posting. Got alot so I should be able to find the best among them. Cheers guys, and thanks for all the people posting any youtube links in this thread, love watching it back. ;) Title: Re: September 13th, 2010 Paris, France (Discussion) Post by: lufiduvi on September 14, 2010, 11:26:10 PM Hello ;D I don't know if this video was already posted here... if it was, sorry :( Well, this is Rocket Queen but, the quality is amazing!!!!!!!!! And are the stones real ( that's so gay of manuel lol !!!!! ) Message N?2 from me, manuel, julien, marie : Tommy looks unwell. Message n?3 from Manuel : You have an extremely vibrant look in your eyes ( even gayer lol lmao !!!) ( considering he is into Motley usually lol) Message n?4 from Manuel : Ron, you are very humble and probably better than most guitarists i have seen ( he hasn't stopped raving about you ron, ever since Bercy ) Message n?5 From Manuel : Richard, admire you loads Message n? 6 from Manuel and Julien : DJ, are you sponsored by Malboro, you fake smoker ?( don't shoot the messenger lol) Thank you everyone. It was fantastic. Title: Re: September 13th, 2010 Paris, France (Discussion) Post by: One.In.A.Million on September 15, 2010, 09:18:52 AM I think it has to be said just how talented and tight the band seem as of late.
Chinese, Jungle, ISE and Brownstone where class, if you closed your eyes, you would swear they were the Album versions. How Bumble can do the solos in Better, Shackler and November Rain without missing a note every night is magic. I also could not believe Richards' solo in Whole Lotta Rosie, and also DJs' This I Love solo (doing Robin proud :)). And obviously Axls' vocals are top notch as always, he always delivers and I've not got a clue how Axl keeps singing like he does for 2 and a half + hours. Sometimes it's easy to forget that this is a live performance, and that the sound depends on everyones input and contribution. So how they get it this good every night is a testament to how excellent GN'R is. I was so honoured to be in Paris and see this show, and the performance left me wanting more. Title: Re: September 13th, 2010 Paris, France (Discussion) Post by: axl_78 on September 15, 2010, 09:36:13 AM Axl falling during Street of Dreams :hihi:

He tries to play off that fall as if it was planned. Even he couldn't hold back from laughing though when it was all over. I think the judges would have to deduct points for a shaky dismount and landing.

she said to me she was hoping they'll play the tune, and I said "well, I feel it, I'm sure they'll do it tonight". something like 5 seconds later, Ron began to play the song. I looked at her and said "just ask me, I'm the DJ here" :hihi: Title: Re: September 13th, 2010 Paris, France (Discussion) Post by: One.In.A.Million on September 17, 2010, 08:35:53 PM I could not believe when they started to play Whole Lotta Rosie, wasn't expecting it at all.
It was nice seeing Axl smile, just as he was singing the opening lines. And the band plays this to perfection, and Richard nails the solo. : ok: Title: Re: September 13th, 2010 Paris, France (Discussion) Post by: Spirit on September 19, 2010, 08:33:31 PM This one's from Paris, went through a little bit of photoshop... ;)

It's really a great version of the song. Without watching my watch during the show I told my buddy "this version lasted at least 12 minutes!"...I wasn't so far off lol. Title: Re: September 13th, 2010 Paris, France (Discussion) Post by: Tyson on September 27, 2010, 12:59:51 PM Hey everybody, I know this is a bit delayed but I just wanted to chime in. I live in New Jersey, USA and was fortunate enough to attend this concert in Paris. All I can really say is that the YouTube vids absolutely do NOT do this band justice. Axl's voice literally filled the arena and was so overwhelmingly powerful. 'This I Love' live was an experience to behold. It was spine tingling and stunning. Other highlights were knockin on heavens door, it's so easy, paradise city and damn near everything else. The Parisian crowd was awesome and despite a few scattered boo's prior to GNR taking stage, everyone seemed to be having a great time. The arena was practically sold out, which definetely added to the electricity.
All in all, all I can keep thinking is how great of a band this is and what a timeless talent Axl Rose really is. |
