GN'R should be significantly higher on the list in my opinion, and yes it's just my opinion.  :D

Just watching some of the show now.  Throughout they ask artists/celebrities their all time favorite artists.  Surprisingly, Chili from TLC had Guns N' Roses in her top 5.  She always was my favorite girl in TLC, no disrespect to Lisa "Left Eye" Lopez, RIP.  She was the hottest one though, and still looks fine today.

Anyway her top five went like this.  GNR sort of sticks out in the group, as which one doesn't belong.  I like it.  You go Chili.

5. Pointer Sisters
4. Marvin Gaye
3. Guns N' Roses
2. Prince
1. Michael Jackson

I just watched the Guns N' Roses part, and I found it a little odd that the 2 songs they played during the session were two cover songs, and live versions of "Live and Let Die" and "Knockin' On Heaven's Door" to boot.  I mean, for most of the other artists they played their biggest hits and no offense to LALD or KOHD, but I expected WTTJ, SCOM, PC, etc.  Maybe they couldn't get the rights to the original recordings?

It's not the rights on the original recordings aka masters. It's the pubilshing rights. When clearing rights for songs used in a tv show such as this, you have to clear (usually) two things: 1) publishing rights and 2) master recording.

McCartney wrote LALD and Dylan wrote KOHD, compositions NOT written by Axl or any other member of GNR. Therefore, if Macca or Dylan's publishing says ok, as well as the label (Universal) saying okay on the masters, then that's why those songs were used.

Perhaps the publishers for GNR said 'no' on songs you would think of hearing (WTTJ, SCOM, PC, etc.). As to why...... ???

LOL I really don't think Axl is that big of a VH-1 fan after watching Behind The Music "Slash's Story".

Sucks to be an Eagles or Rod Stewart fan.

And yes Guns N Roses deserves to be higher.

And I am not asking for top ten....

Just higher than Velvet Underground, Radiohead, Neil Young, The Clash.

I also think Prince is way high.
