The arena has a capacity of over 14,000 (standing) or 9,500 (seated).

The number will be somewhere between this.  I thought they would've done a bigger show like RDS outdoors like in 2006.  (capacity is something like 60000 for RDS).

But i prefer smaller gigs so im VERY HAPPY about this!!!

EDIT:  And its only 5 mins away from my house!

Fibber Magees on Parnell street would get my vote.  (its a rock bar).  Although its a fair bit away from the venue.
There is also a new Fibber Magees on the Quays which could be suitable.

The problem with the O2 is... there aint many good bars nearby.

The green room pub behind the o2 is a great venue before a concert and its only 5 minutes walk to the o2.

I'd be up for a pre drink in the Green Room, if we get enough people to join the Facebook site (i.e. everyone!) then we can organise something for those who want it!

http://entertainment.ie/music/news/Irish-Dates-For-Guns-N%27-Roses/44196.htm

Guns N' Roses have announced dates in Dublin and Belfast in support of their current album 'Chinese Democracy'.

The current touring line up consists of Axl Rose, Frank Ferrer, Tommy Stinson, Richard Fortus, Ron ?Bumblefoot? Thal, Dizzy Reed, Chris Pitman and welcomed guitarist Dj Ashba. This is the first Guns N' Roses tour since 2007.

Guns N' Roses play the Odyssey Arena in Belfast on August 31st (?49-?55) and The O2 in Dublin on September 1st (?65.70-?70.70). Tickets go on sale next Friday June 11th at 9am, with O2 presale beginning on Wednesday June 9th at 9am.

http://www.hotpress.com/Guns%20N%27Roses/news/Guns-N-Roses-to-return-to-Ireland/6555276.html

The band have just confirmed two dates for Ireland this autumn

Axl & Co will be bringing their unapologetically old school and iconic brand of rock n' roll to Belfast's Odyssey arena on August 31, and to Dublin's O2 on September 1.

It will see the band bringing their tour for the Chinese Democracy album to these shores.

Tickets for both shows go on sale Friday next, June 11.

http://www.herald.ie/entertainment/music/guns-nroses-coming-back-to-rock-the-o2-2207789.html

ROCKERS Guns N' Roses are set to make a triumphant return to Dublin, the Herald can reveal.

The American band will be hitting Dublin's O2 on September 1, with tickets expected to be snapped up quickly when they go on sale on Friday, July 11.

The worldwide tour promotes the band's current album, Chinese Democracy, which hit the top spot in charts around the globe. Guns N' Roses, with front man Axl Rose, last played Dublin four years ago in the RDS. During this tour, they performed 60 concerts in 26 countries, playing for more than a million fans, including some 30,000 in Dublin.

Since they formed in 1985, GNR have sold more than 100 million albums worldwide, including 46 million in the US.

Their hits include Paradise City and Sweet Child O' Mine.

Thank-you! Thank-you! I cannot put into words how much this delights me!

The O2, visually typeset in branding as The O2, is a concert and events venue in Ireland, built on the site of the former Point Theatre which opened on 16 December 2008. It is located at North Wall Quay, Dublin 1, Ireland by the River Liffey, in the Dublin Docklands.

U2 were the first band to perform in the venue, for a private audience only. The first event to take place at the arena was the ChildLine Concert on 16 December 2008. The Mighty Boosh was the first comedy act to perform and UFC 93, a mixed martial arts event, was the venue's first sporting event.

This is cool news, I'm going to try to attend the Dublin date.

A couple of days after seeing them twice at festivals (Reading & leeds), it'll be nice to see them at their own show 3 days later.  :)

I must check this out as most likely written by my cousin philly.

I am having serious trouble getting o2 presale ready, o2 ireland want accept my Northern Ireland mobile number and then when I register with o2 Uk they wont give my access to o2 Ireland...very fair on the Northern Irish GNR fans.
Anyone else have this issue or know and alternative?

I believe that the performance in Belfast will be sold-out almost instantly, the announcement came yesterday and already national radio is covered with promotional jingles for the date. I personally cannot wait until August, by the time we're finished with Guns N' Roses Axl's second name will be Mc Rose or O' Rose or something similar.

For chance to buy priority tickets, just text Roses to 51020. From O2.
They'll send you a code and you can buy your tickets tomorrow morning!

I was wondering whether I should have entered the pre-sale, but I thought I'd wait until Friday as I'm sure there are still going to be GA or good seats available.

And your post has made me all the more happier, although I don't agree with the notion of getting people to sign up for a pre-sale, when you are not offering the best seats.

Roll on friday. :)

Got standing tickets this morning, the wait begins!!
Should be great, venue should suit them a lot better than the RDS.

Sure it will sell out but maybe not straight away, so many negative people dismiss this band
with the usual "its only Axl" ah well there loss. I'll be one of the lucky ones there!! :P

Deffo !! I will be in the queue (or more accurately my other half will) for a ticket tomorrow.

Provided everything goes to plan we can discuss plans nearer the time. I will be suggesting ideas for a pre-show meet to our great leader shortly too. Love Dublin. Love Ireland.

nothing to do with gnr, its run by the venue. You pay more for better bar access and some food in an area to relax. You pay for you ticket as part of the over all price, no big deal.

Yeah.

Just something the venue came up with.

I guess these days some people are prepared to pay a little extra to make the show a bit more special.

Even if it just means they'll get some Indian food and complimentary drinks....
